Prevention is always better than cureGood oral hygiene habits will keep away most of the dental problems saving you from tooth aches and costly dental treatmentsAwareness regarding the importance of oral hygiene has significantly increased in developed countries

IMPORTANCE FOR GOOD ORAL HYGIENE

Brush your teeth ( at least twice a day or after every meal)Floss your teeth regularlyProper dietOther Interdental cleansingMouth rinsesMouth wash should be used regularlyRegular dental checkups BASIC STEPS FOR MAINTAINING ORAL HYGIENE:

Always use a soft bristled tooth brushUse anti cavity fluoride tooth pastesBrush teeth for a minimum of two minutes at least twice a dayBrush gums and tongue along with teeth to remove some bacteria from tongueDont brush too hard because it causes gingival recessionTooth brush should be replaced after every three month1. BRUSHING:

Use about 18 inch of dental floss, leaving an inch or two to work withGently follow the curves of your teethBe sure to clean beneath the gum line, avoid snapping the floss on the gums2. FLOSSING METHOD

Avoid food that is rich in sugar contentCarbonated drinks are more acidic and more dangerous than non-carbonated drinks. So carbonated drinks should be avoided
