VIA and PAP-Smear tests are majorly performed in India for Cervical cancer screening but have their

own disadvantages like inconvenience, less of predictive and more of confirmatory, surgical in nature.

These tests cost about US$ 16 per test.

Competition in terms of predictive technology for cervical cancer is minimal with only 2-3 players

available in the Indian market.

The demand of cervical cancer screening is about to increase with rising concern about the second most

prevalent cancer among women in the Indian government. The Government of India had launched the

program in 2012 consisted of screening and treatment of cervical cancer.

State governments are also taking initiative to curb this monster. One of the State governments in India

has formulated and implemented cervical cancer screening and treatment program with the help of

World Bank.

In a nutshell, Indian market is lucrative for cervical cancer screening with a big potential to tap, low

competition and Government’s focus.
