WARNINGS

DANGER! Oxygen vigorously accelerates combustion.Possible fire hazard when used with oxygenadministering equipment. Explosion hazard when usedin the presence of flammable anesthetics.

Before use, carefully read this operator's manual, sensorand accessory directions for use, and all precautionaryinformation (which is set in boldface type).

To avoid possible patient strangulation with the sensorextension cable, it is important that a health careprofessional remain with the patient at all times duringuse of the N-20/N-20P pulse oximeter.

The N-20/N-20P is intended only as an adjunct in patientassessment. It must be used in conjunction with clinicalsigns and symptoms.

The N-20/N-20P does not incorporate alarms. If alarmsare required, use an oximeter with an automatic alarmsystem.

Shock hazard. Cover to be removed only by qualifiedservice personnel. There are no user-serviceable partsinside.

Use only NELLCOR oxygen transducers. Use of otheroxygen transducers may cause improper oximeterperformance.

Safety Information

Inaccurate measurements may be caused by incorrectsensor application or use; significant levels of wdysfunctional hemoglobin (e.g., carboxyhemoglobin ormethemoglobin) or intravascular dyes such asindocyanine green or methylene blue; exposure toexcessive illumination, such as surgical lamps(especially ones with a xenon light source), bilirubinlamps, fluorescent lights, infrared heat lamps, or directsunlight; excessive movement; venous pulsations;electrosurgical interference; and placement of a sensoron an extremity with a blood pressure cuff, arterialcatheter, or intravascular line. If excessive ambientlight is a problem, cover the sensor site with opaquematerial.

Do not use the N-20/N-20P or oximetry sensors duringmagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning.Conducted current could potentially cause burns. Also,the N-20/N-20P may affect the MRI image, and the MRIunit may affect oximeter accuracy.

CAUTIONS

Do not immerse the N-20/N-20P or accessories in liquidor use caustic or abrasive cleaners.

Basic Operation

BASIC OPERATION

1. Plug in an appropriate sensor, close the sensor lock, andapply the sensor to the patient as directed.

2. Turn the N-20/N-20P on:

• For spot-check mode, press the measure button once.

• For extended mode (30 minutes), hold the measurebutton down for 4 to 5 seconds.

3. N-20P only: During the self-test, check whether PR ON orPR OFF is displayed. To turn the printer on (or off), pressthe printer ON button.

4. To turn the N-20/N-20P off before the measurement cycleends, rapidly press the measure button two times.

Installing Batteries

1. Press the battery compartment latch and remove thebattery access door.

2. Install four alkaline "C size batteries, oriented as inFigure 3. Replace the battery access door.

Note: Do not use rechargeable batteries. The low batteryindications and battery life specification would beinaccurate.

Installing Protective Boot

To maximize durability, Nellcor recommends keeping theN-207N-20P in its protective boot during use.

1. Slide the N-20/N-20P into the boot, bottom end first.

2. Stretch the top of the boot slightly to slide it over the top ofthe instrument.

N-20P: Setting Clock

The N-20P has a 24-hour, real-time clock.

1. With the N-20P on, press the D& button. The OXYGENSATURATION display shows a "t" (time) followed by aflashing display of the hour. Press —> to change the hour(Figure 4).

2. Press 11^. Press —> to change the minutes in the PULSERATE display.

3. Press D&. Press -» to change the month in the OXYGENSATURATION display.

4. Press D&. Press -» to change the date in the PULSERATE display.

5. Press fl&. Press -» to change the year in the OXYGEN

SATURATION display. Then press II& to exit.

Plug an appropriate NELLCOR sensor into the sensor port,close the sensor lock over the plug, and apply the sensor tothe patient as described in its directions for use. Ifnecessary, use an EC-4 sensor extension cable.

WARNING: During the self-test (immediately afterpower-up), confirm that all display segments light.

Turn the N-20/N-20P on:

• For spot-check mode, press the measure button once.

• For extended mode, hold the measure button down for 4to 5 seconds.

(See "Description of Modes" later in this section for moreinformation.)

After power-up, the N-20/N-20P automatically tests itscircuitry and lights the entire display. If a problem isdetected, an error message is displayed (see SectionTroubleshooting"). If ambient light is low, the displaybacklight turns on automatically.

During operation, the constant-pitch beeper sounds oncefor each pulse, and the pulse amplitude indicator reflectspulse strength at the sensor site. If no sensor is detected,dashes are displayed.

3. N-20P only: During the self-test, check whether PR ON orPR OFF is displayed. To turn the printer on (or off), press ^the printer ONbutton. If the printer wasoffat power- ^,down, it will be off at the next power-up; if it was on atpower-down, it will be on at the next power-up. ^

4. To turn the N-20/N-20P off before the measurement cycleends, rapidly press the measure button two times.

TURNING BEEPER OFF (OR ON)

Rapidly press the battery check button two times to turn theconstant-pitch beeper off (or on). The beeper is always on atpower-up. v®/

BATTERY OPERATION

To check the level of charge remaining in the battery, with theN-20/N-20P turned on, hold the battery check button down for2 seconds. The percentage of lighted segments in the pulseamplitude indicator approximates the battery charge; allsegments light with fully charged batteries.

When the LOW BATTERY indicator lights continuously, theprinter is automatically disabled. When the indicator beginsblinking, approximately one hour of battery life remains.

Spot-Check Mode

Press the measure button once to enter spot-check mode. Afterfive valid pulses, pulse rate and Sp02 are displayed for30 seconds. Then the instrument turns off automatically.Figure 8 is a sample N-20P spot-check mode printout.

To enter the extended mode:

• If the N-20/N-20P is on, hold the measure button down for3 seconds.

• If the instrument is off, hold the measure button down for 4to 5 seconds (3 seconds, plus 1 to 2 seconds for the self-test).

After five valid pulses, Sp02 and pulse rate are displayed andupdated with each vahd pulse. IfSp02 decreases by 2%, thebeeper sounds two brief, low-pitched tones (and, with theN-20P, an asterisk [*] appears on the printout). TheN-20/N-20P turns itself off after 30 minutes.

On some printouts, an asterisk may appear to identify a 1%decrease in Sp02; this is not the case. For example, if Sp02 is98% at 30 seconds, increases to 99% at 37 seconds, anddecreases to 97% at 44 seconds, the printout would show:

In this case, the asterisk appears to mark a 1% decrease, butthere was actually a 2% drop in Sp02 at 44 seconds (from 99%to 97%).

Loss of pulse is handled as follows:

• The PULSE SEARCH indicator flashes if no pulse isdetected for 3 seconds or for the period during which fivepulses would be expected (whichever is longer). The lastvalid measurement continues to be displayed.

• The displays go to zero if no pulse is detected for10 seconds.

• The N-20/N-20P turns off if no pulse is detected for3 minutes.

Changing Operating Mode

In the spot-check mode, hold the measure button down for3 seconds to change to extended mode.

Selecting a SensorCleaning and ReusePerformance Considerations

SELECTING A SENSOR

WARNING: Use only NELLCOR oxygen transducers. Useof other oxygen transducers may cause improperoximeter performance.

WARNING: Before use, carefully read sensor directionsfor use.

NELLCOR sensors are briefly described in Table 1. To selectthe appropriate sensor, consider the patient's weight, activitylevel, perfiision, which sensor sites are available, whethersterility is required, and the duration of monitoring.

CLEANING AND REUSE

Do not immerse any OXISENSOR, DURASENSOR,OXIBAND, or RS-10 oxygen transducer, or any Nellcoradhesive in water or cleaning solution. Clean DURASENSOR,OXIBAND, and RS-10 oxygen transducers by wiping with acleaning agent such as isopropyl alcohol. Do not sterilize byirradiation, steam, or ethylene oxide.

Use a new OXIBAND adhesive wrap for each patient. Do notresterilize OXISENSOR oxygen transducers.

PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS

If there is excessive ambient light, cover the sensor site withopaque material. Failure to do so may result in inaccuratemeasurements. light sources that can affect performanceinclude surgical lights (especially those with a xenon lightsource), bilirubin lamps, fluorescent lights, infrared heatinglamps, and direct sunlight.

If poor perfusion affects performance, consider using theOXISENSOR R-15 sensor; it obtains measurements from thenasal septal anterior ethmoid artery, an artery supplied by theinternal carotid. This sensor may obtain measurements whenperipheral perfusion is relatively poor. For low peripheralperfiision, consider using the NELLCOR RS-10 sensor, which is ^applied to the forehead or temple, sites that may be sparedduring peripheral vasoconstriction. w

If patient movement affects performance, determine whetherthe sensoris properly and securely apphed, move the sensor to ^a less active site, or use a new adhesive sensor. «j

w CLEANING

Dampen a cloth with a commercial, nonabrasive cleaner, and\mt lightly wipe the surfaces of the N-20/N-20P. Do not spray or

pour liquid on the instrument or accessories. Do not allow^ liquid to contact connectors, switches, or openings in the\0 chassis.

^ DETERMINING SOFTWARE VERSION

At the end of the self-test, the software version appears in the^ OXYGEN SATURATION display (e.g., 100 is version 1.0.0).

w OXIMETRY OPERATING PRINCIPLES

^ Many times each second, the N-20/N-20P passes red and^ infrared light into the sensor site and determines absorption.

Measurements that are taken during the arterial pulse reflect^ absorption by arterial blood, nonpulsatile blood, and tissue.w Measurements that are obtainedbetweenpulses reflect

absorption by nonpulsatile blood and tissue. By correcting**" "during-pulse'' absorption for "between-pulse" absorption, the^ N-20/N-20P determines red and infrared absorption by

pulsatile arterial blood. Because oxyhemoglobin and^ deoxyhemoglobin differ in red and infrared absorption, this^ corrected measurement can be used to determine the

percentage of oxyhemoglobin in arterial blood: Sp02 is the ratio*** of corrected absorption at each wavelength.

Automatic Calibration

The N-20/N-20P is automatically calibrated each time it isturned on and whenever a new sensor is connected: it sets

\ws sensor-specific calibration coefficients by reading a calibrationresistor in the sensor. Also, the intensity of the sensor's lightsources are adjusted automatically to compensate fordifferences in tissue thickness and darkness.

The N-207N-20P measures functional saturation, i.e.,*** oxygenated hemoglobin expressed as a percentage of thevgpz hemoglobin that is capable of transporting oxygen. It does not

detect significant levels of dyshemoglobins. In contrast,^ instruments such as the IL282 CO-Oximeter measure^ fractional saturation, i.e., oxygenated hemoglobin expressed as

a percentage of all measured hemoglobin, including^ dyshemoglobins.

Consequently, before comparing N-20/N-20P measurementswith those obtained by an instrument that measures fractionalsaturation, measurements must be converted as follows:

Measured and Calculated Saturation

When saturation is calculated from a blood gas measurement ofthe partial pressure of oxygen (P02), the calculated value maydiffer from the N-20/N-20P Sp02 measurement. This is becausethe calculated saturation may not have been corrected for theeffects of variables that shift the relationship between PO2 andsaturation: temperature, pH, the partial pressure of carbondioxide (PCO2), and the concentrations of2,3-DPG and fetalhemoglobin.

1. There is no response to the measure button.

• The battery access door may not be properly attached.

• The batteries may be discharged or orientedincorrectly.

2. One or more display segments do not light duringthe self-test.

• Do not use the N-20/N-20P; contact qualified servicepersonnel or Nellcor's representative.

3. The PULSE SEARCH indicator is displayed for morethan 10 seconds.

• Check the sensor directions for use to determine if

appropriate sensor is being used and if it is appliedproperly. Check sensor and extension cableconnections. Test the sensor on someone else. Tryanother sensor or extension cable.

• Perfusion may be too low for the N-20/N-20P to trackthe pulse. Check the patient. Test the instrument onsomeone else. Change the sensor site. Try another typeof sensor.

• Excessive patient motion may be preventing theN-20/N-20P from tracking the pulse. Verify that thesensor is securely apphed and replace it if necessary.Change the sensor site. Use a type of sensor thattolerates more patient movement (e.g., an adhesivesensor).

• The sensor may be too tight, there may be excessiveambient light, or the sensor may be on an extremitywith a blood pressure cuff, arterial catheter, orintravascular line.

• Excessive environmental motion or electromagneticinterference may be preventing the N-20/N-20P fromtracking the pulse.

4. The PULSE SEARCH indicator appears aftersuccessful measurements have been made.

• Check the patient.

• Perfiision may be too low for the N-20/N-20P to trackthe pulse. Check the patient. Test the instrument onsomeone else. Change the sensor site. Try another typeof sensor.

5. Dashes appear in the display.

• Check sensor or extension cable connections. Tryanother sensor or extension cable.

6. ERR followed by a number appears on the display.

• Record the number and provide that information toqualified service personnel or Nellcor's representative.

7. N-20P: PR ERR is displayed during the self-test.

• The printer is not operational, but the N-20P unit willobtain measurements normally. Contact qualifiedservice personnel or Nellcor's representative to repairthe printer.

8. N-20P: Time or date is incorrect.

• The real-time clock may be malfunctioning. Reset thetime and date. If the problem persists, contact qualifiedservice personnel or Nellcor's representative.

9. N-20P: Printer paper advances but does not print.

• The paper may be improperly loaded (e.g., the wrongside of the thermal paper may be facing up).

10. N-20P: Print is too light.

• Contact qualified service personnel or Nellcor'srepresentative to have the print intensity adjusted.

11. N-20P: Paper jams.

a. If the paper jams first try to pull the paper out bygently pulling and wiggling it back and forth. If thepaper tears more, stop.

b. If the N-20P is on, press the "ADV" button on the top ofthe instrument and repeat step a.

c. If the N-20P is off, turn it on (press the "Measure"button on the front of the N-20P) and repeat step a.

d. If the previous attempts fail to clear the jam, then firstremove the paper exit door. To do so, use both handsand firmly press down and push toward the back of theunit to remove the door (see Figure 11), taking care notto rip the paper any further. Carefully lift the dooraway from the N-20P. Repeat steps a through b.

Caution: Do not use any instrument to removeexcess paper from compartment. Do not touch theprint head.

e. After the jam is cleared, advance the paper and feed itthrough the paper exit slot in the paper exit door andreplace the door.

Nellcor warrants to the initial purchaser ("Purchaser") of eachnew NELLCOR N-20/N-20P (the "Warranted Product")purchased from Nellcor or a Nellcor-authorized distributor thatNellcor will repair or replace the Warranted Product to theextent deemed reasonably necessary by Nellcor to remedy anydefects in workmanship or materials reported by Purchaserduring the "Warranty Period." The Warranty Period is one yearfrom the date of initial shipment to the Purchaser. Thiswarranty period shall apply to all accessories and attachmentswhich are included and packaged with the Warranted Productas standard items except that: a) the warranty period for theDURASENSOR oxygen transducer is stated within the writtenwarranty provided with that product and b) no warranty isgiven as to disposable or patient-dedicated items (includingOXISENSOR oxygen transducers) or extension cables. Repairor replacement of Products under this warranty does notextend the warranty period. (Products which are not new aresubject to warranties expressly provided in connection with thesale of such products.)

To request repair or replacement under this warranty,Purchaser must contact Nellcor or a Nellcor-authorized

distributor to request a returned goods authorization. Insidethe U.S., contact Nellcor Incorporated, 1-800-NELLCOR.Outside the U.S., contact the local Nellcor office or Nellcorauthorized distributor. Nellcor offices are listed in the

beginning of this product manual.

Nellcor shall determine whether to repair or replace Productsand parts covered by this warranty and all Products or partsreplaced shall become Nellcor's property. In the course ofwarranty service, Nellcor may, but shall not be required to,make engineering improvements to the Warranted Product orpart thereof.

LOANER POLICY (U.S.A. only)

The following loaner policy applies only in the U.S.A.: If theWarranted Product is to be repaired rather than replaced,Nellcor will ship a comparable loaner product for use byPurchaser during the period that the Warranted Product orpart is at Nellcor's facility for service. Purchaser is responsiblefor any damage to or loss of any loaner equipment while it is atPurchaser's location. Purchaser must return loaner equipmentwithin 10 days after receiving the repaired or replaced Productor receiving notice from Nellcor that the Product returned byPurchaser is not covered by the warranty. IfPurchaser doesnot return loaner equipment within 20 days after the returndue date, then Purchaser agrees to pay Nellcor the reasonablevalue of the loaner equipment or a reasonable daily rental fee,whichever Nellcor selects.

SHIPPING PROCEDURES

IfNellcor reasonably determines that a repair or replacementis covered by the warranty, Nellcor shall bear the costs ofshipping the loaner Product and the repaired or replacementProduct to Purchaser. All other shipping costs shall be paid byPurchaser. Risk of loss or damage during shipments under thiswarranty shall be borne by the party shipping the Product.Products shipped by Purchaser under this warranty shall besuitably packaged to protect the Product. IfPurchaser ships aProduct to Nellcor in unsuitable packaging, any physicaldamage present in the Product on receipt by Nellcor (and notpreviously reported) will be presumed to have occurred intransit and will be the responsibility of Purchaser.

EXCLUSIONS

This warranty does not extend to any Warranted Products orparts thereof that have been subject to misuse, neglect oraccident; that have been damaged by causes external to theWarranted Products, including but not limited to failure of orfaulty electrical power; that have been used in violation ofNellcor's instructions; that have been affixed to anynonstandard accessory attachment; on which the serial numberhas been removed or made illegible; or that have been modified

or improperly disassembled, serviced, or reassembled byanyone otherthan Nellcor, unless authorized byNellcor.

Pour eviter de voir le cable d'extension s'enrouler

autour du patient, fixer le cable au chevet ou a lapotence du patient ou faire en sorte qu'un membre dupersonnel soignant soit aupres du patient pendantl'utilisation du N-20/N-20P.

Le N-20/N-20P ne genere aucun signal d'alarme. En casde monitorage necessitant un systeme d'alarme, ilconvient d'utiliser un oxymetre equipe* d'alarmeautomatique.

1. Connectez un capteur approprie, bloquez-le et appliquez-lesur le patient de la maniere indiquee.

2. Mettez le N-20/N-20P en marche:

• en mode normal, appuyez une fois sur la touche.

* en mode etendu, maintenir la touche pendant 4 a5 secondes.

3. N-20P uniquement: Pendant I'auto-test, verifiez si PR ONou PR OFF est affiche. Pour mettre rimprimante enmarche (ou a l'arret), appuyez sur la touche imprimanteON.

4. Pour arreter le N-20/N-20P avant la fin d'un cycle demesure, appuyez rapidement deux fois sur la touche demesure.

Installation des piles

1. Appuyer sur le loquet du compartiment des piles et enleverle couvercle d'acces aux piles.

2. Installer quatre piles alcalines taille "C en les orientantcomme a la figure 3. Remettre en place le couvercle d'accesaux piles.

Note: Ne pas utiliser des piles rechargeables. Le temoin"piles faibles" et la duree de vie des piles seraientalors imprecis.

Installation du boitier de protection

Afin d'ameUorer la longevity de l'appareil, Nellcor recommandede laisser le N-20/N-20P dans son boitier de protection durantson utilisation.

1. Faites glisser le N-20/N-20 dans le boitier, le fond d'abord.

2. Tirer legerement sur l'extr^mite* sup6rieure du boitier pourcouvrir la partie sup^rieure du moniteur.

N-20P: Reglage de I'horloge

Le N-20P est equipe d'une horloge, en temps r6el, de 24 heures.

1. Avec le N-20P en marche, appuyer sur la touche H^. Lecompteur numenque de la SATURATION EN OXYGENEaffiche un "t" (time [heurel) suivi de l'heure en chiffresclignotants.

Appuyer sur —> pour changer les heure (figure 4).

2. Appuyer sur 111^. Appuyer sur —¥ pour changer lesminutes au compteur numerique de la FREQUENCE DEPOULS.

3. Appuyer sur 11^. Appuyer sur —> pourchangerle mois aucompteur numenque de la SATURATION EN OXYGENE.

4. Appuyer sur HE^. Appuyer sur —> pourchanger la date aucompteur numerique de la FREQUENCE DE POULS.

5. Appuyer sur 11^. Appuyer sur —¥ pourchanger l'anneeaucompteur numerique de la SATURATION EN OXYGENE.

Ensuite, appuyer sur 11^ pour quitter cemenu.

Fonctionnement de base

1. Connecter un capteur a oxygene approprie, fermer lelocquet et appliquer le capteur au patient comme decritdans le mode d'emploi du capteur. Au besoin, utiliser uncable d'extension EC-4.

2. MISE EN GARDE: Pendant I'auto-test (directement

apres la mise en service, verifier que tous lessegments lumineux fonctionnent.

Mettre le N-20/N-20P en marche:

• en mode normal, appuyer une fois sur la touche demesure.

* en mode etendu, maintenir la touche pendant 4 a 5 s(voir le "Description des modes", pour plus derenseignements).

Apres sa mise en marche, le N-20/N-20P execute un cycled'auto-test et I'ensemble de l'affichage est alors allume. Siun probleme est detecte, un message d'erreur sera aifiche(voir le chapitre "Problemes/Causes/Solutions"). En cas deluminosity faible, la lumiere de fond s'allumeautomatiquement.

Guide de fonctionnement

Durant le fonctionnement de l'appareil, un bip sonore atonalite constante retentit a chaque pulsation et le temoind'amplitude de pouls reflete l'intensite des pulsations auniveau du capteur. Si aucun capteur n'est branche, dessegments apparaissent.

3. Durant I'auto-test, verifier si PR ON ou PR OFF est affiche\Pour mettre rimprimante en marche (ou a l'arret), appuyersur la touche imprimante MARCHE. Si rimprimante etaita l'arret au moment de l'arret de l'appareil, elle sera al'arret a la prochaine mise en marche du moniteur; si elleetait en marche a l'arret de l'appareil, elle sera en marche ala mise en marche suivante.

4. Pour arreter le N-20/N-20P avant la fin du cycle de mesure,appuyer rapidement deux fois sur la TOUCHE DEMARCHE.

MISE EN MARCHE/ARRET DU BIP

Appuyer rapidement deux fois sur la touche test des piles pourmettre le bip a tonalite constante a l'arret (ou en marche). A lamise en service, le bip est toujours en marche.

FONCTIONNEMENT DES PILES

Pour verifier le niveau de chargement des piles avec leN-20/N-20P en marche, appuyer et maintenir pendant environ2 secondes sur la touche test des piles. Le pourcentage desegments allume au niveau du temoin d'amplitude de poulsrepresents le niveau de chargement des piles; quand les pilessont chargees, tous les segments s'allument.

Lorsque le temoin piles faibles s'allume en continu,rimprimante sera automatiquement mise hors service. Lorsquece temoin commence a clignoter, la duree de vie des piles estd'une heure environ.

Pour acc^der au mode 6tendu:

• si le N-20/N-20P est en marche, appuyer 3 secondes sur latouche de marche.

• si le moniteur est a l'arret, appuyer 4 a 5 secondes sur latouche de marche (3 secondes, plus 1 a 2 secondes pourI'auto-test).

Apres la detection de cinq pulsations valables, le pouls et laSp02 du patient sont afifiches et mis a jour a chaque pulsationvalable. Lorsque la Sp02 diminue de 2%, le bip emet deux tonsbrefs de basse tonalite" et un asterisque [*] marquera cettechute a l'impression. Le moniteur s'eteint automatiquement aubout de 30 minutes.

Sur certaines impressions, un asterisque semble marquer unechute de la Sp02 de 1%.Pourtant, ceci n'est pas le cas. Parexemple, si la Sp02 est de 98% a 30 secondes, de 99% a 37secondes et 97% a 44 secondes, l'impression indique:

Capteurs NELLCOR

NETTOYAGE/REUTILISATION

Ne pas immerger les capteurs OXISENSOR, DURASENSOR,OXIBAND, RS-10 ou tout adhesif Nellcor dans l'eau ou unesolution de nettoyage. Nettoyer les capteurs a oxygeneDURASENSOR, OXIBAND, RS-10 en les essuyant avec undisinfectant comme l'isopropanol. Ne pas steriliser aux rayonsgamma, a la vapeur ou a l'oxyde d'ethylene. Utihser unenouvelle bande adhesive OXIBAND pour chaque patient. Nepas resteriliser les capteurs OXISENSOR.

PERFORMANCES

Si la lumiere ambiante est trop forte, recouvrir le sited'application du capteur d'un tissu opaque. Sans cetteprecaution, les mesures risquent d'etre faussees. Les sourceslumineuses susceptibles d'affecter les performances del'appareil sont les suivantes: scialytiques, lampes au xenon,lampes a bilirubine, lampes fluorescentes, rampes chauffantesa infrarouge et lumiere solaire directe.

Si une hypoperfusion peripherique affecte les performances,utihser un capteur OXISENSOR R-15; il reahse ses mesures apartir de Partere ethmoidale anterieure de la cloison nasale,artere alimentee par la carotide interne. Ce capteur peutreussir des mesures meme lorsque l'irrigation peripherique estrelativement mediocre. Si cette derniere est faible, envisagezd'utiliser le capteur RS-10, destine a etre applique sur le frontou les tempes.

Si les mouvements du patient affectent la performance, verifiersi le capteur est applique de maniere correcte et stable, choisirun autre site ou utihser un nouveau capteur adhesif.

Saturation mesuree et calculee

Lorsque la saturation est calculee a partir de la P02 des gaz dusang, la valeur calculee differe parfois de la Sp02 mesuree parle N-20/N-20P. Repeter les etapes a et b.

Attention: N'utiliser aucun instrument pour retirer lepapier bloque dans le compartiment. Ne pas toucher latete d'impression.

ACHTUNG! Sauerstoff beschleunigt die Verbrennungerheblich. Mogliche Feuergefahr bei Verwendungzusammen mit Sauerstoffgeraten. Explosionsgefahr beiVerwendung in der Nahe von leicht entflammbarenAnasthetika.

Vor der Inbetriebnahme des Gerates sind dieseGebrauchsan-weisuug, die Sicherheitsvorschriften furden Sensor oder das Zubehdr, sowie alle(fettgedruckten) Vorsorgematiregeln grtindlich zu lesen.

Um auszuschlieflen, dan sich der Patient mit demVerlangerungskabel des Sensors verwickelt, fixiere mandas Eabel am Bett oder der Trage. 1st dies nichtmoglich, so sollte der Patient beaufsichtigt werden.

Das N-20 /N-20P dient lediglich als Zusatzgerat bei derBeurteilung von Patienten. Das Ergebnis ist desN-20/N-20P zusammen mit anderen Anzeichen und

Symptomen zu interpretieren.

Das N-20/N-20P hat keine eingebauten Wamsysteme. Istin einer Beobachtungssituation ein Warnsystemerforderlich, empfiehlt es sich, ein Oximeter mitautomatischem Warnsystem zu verwenden.

Gefahr eines elektrischen Schlages. Der Deckel darfausschliefilich von qualiflziertem Wartungspersonalgedffhet werden. Innen im Gerat befinden sich keineTeile, die vom Benutzer gewartet werden konnen.

verwenden; die Verwendung von Sauerstoff andererHersteller kann die Ergebnisse des Oximetersbeeintrachtigen.

Ungenaue Messungen konnen entstehen durch unsach-gemafie Verwendung oder falsches Anlegen des Sensors,signiflkanten Gehalt an dysfunktionellem Hamoglobin(z.B. Kohlenmonoxyd-hamoglobin oder Methamoglobin)oder intravasalen Farbstoffen wie Indocyaningriin oderMethylenblau, ubermafiige Lichteinwirkung z.B. vonOperationslampen (vor allem Xenonlampen), Bilirubin-lampen, Leuchtstoffrohren, Infrarot-Warmelampen oderdirekter Sonneneinstrahlung, ubermafiig starkeBewegungen, venose Pulsationen, elektrochirugischeStorungen, Anlegen des Sensors an eine Extremitat mitBlutdruckmanschette, arteriellem Katheter oderintravasaler Kaniile. Wenn zu starkes Umgebungslichtzu Problemen fuhrt, den Sensor mit lichtundurchlassi-gem Material abdecken.

Keine Gerate oderiVELLCO/2-Oximetrie-Sensoren

VORSICHT

Gerat und Zuberhorteile diirfen nicht in Fhlssigkeitengetaucht werden. Gehause nicht mit scharfenReinigungsmitteln reinigen.

Bei langerer Lagerung des N-20/N-20P sind die Batterienaus dem Gerat zu entfernen.

1. Wahlen Sie den geeigneten Sensor aus, stecken Sie dasSensorkabel in die Sensorbuchse und verriegeln Sie es.Legen Sie den Sensor auf die richtige Weise am Patientenan.

Batterien einlegen

1. Driicken Sie auf die Verriegelung des Battenefachdeckelsund nehmen Sie den Deckel ab.

2. Legen Sie alle vier Batterien (Babyzellen) ein, Polaritatsiehe Abbildung 3. Setzen Sie den Deckel wieder auf.

Hinweis: Verwenden Sie keine aufladbaren Batterien. Die

Anzeigen fur niedrige Batteriespannung und dieAngaben zur Lebensdauer der Batterie stimmendann nicht.

Anlegen der Schutzhulle

Die Verwendung der Schutzhulle verlangert die Lebensdauerdes Gerats.

1. Schieben Sie das N-20/N-20P mit der Unterseite voran in

die Hulle.

2. Ziehen Sie dann die Oberseite der Hulle leicht zur Seite, sodafi Sie sie oben uber das N-20/N-20P ziehen konnen.

Das N-20P hat eine 24-Stunden-Echtzeituhr.

1. Drucken Sie bei eingeschaltetem N-20P die Taste H^. DieSauerstoffsattigungsanzeige zeigt die aktuelle Einstellung"t" (Zeit) an, sowie in blinkenden Ziffern die Stunde.

Drucken Sie —> , um die Stunde zu andern (Abbildung 4).

2. Drucken Sie die Taste fl&. Drucken Sie —> , um dieMinuten in der Pulsfrequenzanzeige zu andern.

einschalten.

4. Papier weiterhin in den Aufhahmeschlitz einfiihren und dieVorschubtaste (auf der Oberseite) gedriickt halten.

WARNUNG: Beobachten Sie bei dem Selbsttest

gleich nach dem Einschalten des Gerats dieAnzeige, so daft Sie sicher sind, daft alle Teile derAnzeige aufleuchten.

Schalten Sie das N-20/N-20P ein:

• Fur Einzelmessung drucken Sie einmal kurz auf dieStarttaste.

• Fur Dauermessung drucken Sie 4 bis 5 Sek. lang aufdie Starttaste.

Gleich nach dem Einschalten des N-20/N-20P erfolgt einSelbsttest und die gesamte Anzeige leuchtet auf. Im Falleeiner Stoning wird eine Fehlermeldung angezeigt (vgl.Abschnitt "Fehlerbehebung"). Wenn das Umgebungslichtschwach ist, wird das HintergrundHcht in der Anzeigeautomatisch eingeschaltet.

Wahrend des Betriebs ertont far jeden Pulsschlag eineinzelner Piepton in konstanter Hone, dabei zeigt diePulsamplitudenanzeige die Starke des Pulsschlags beimSensor an. Wenn der Sensor keinen Pulsschlag erfaftt,erscheinen Striche auf der Anzeige.

3. Prufen Sie wahrend des Selbsttests, ob PR ON oder PROFF angezeigt wird. Zum Ein- bzw. Ausschalten des ^Druckers drucken Sie die Taste Drucker EIN. Wenn der ^Drucker beim Ausschalten ausgeschaltet war, ist er beimnachsten Einschalten ausgeschaltet. Wenn der Drucker ^beimAusschalten eingeschaltet war, ist er beimnachsten ^Einschalten eingeschaltet.

4. Sie konnen das N-20/N-20P vor dem Ende des MeBzyklusausschalten: drucken Sie hierzu zweimal schnell dieStarttaste. W

Zum Uberprufen der Batteriespannung drucken Sie dieBatteriepruftaste 2 Sekunden lang bei eingeschaltetem Gerat.Die Pulsamplitudenanzeige zeigt uber den Anteil deraufleuchtenden Anzeigenteile die ungefahre Spannung an. Beivoll geladenen Batterien leuchten alle Teile auf.

Wenn die Anzeige BATTERIESPANNUNG NIEDRIGkontinuierlich aufleuchtet, ist die Batteriespannung niedrig.Wenn die Anzeige BATTERIESPANNUNG NIEDRIG blinkt,mussen Sie die Batterien auswechseln.

In die Betriebsart fur Dauermessung gelangen Siefolgendermaften:

• Drucken Sie bei ausgeschaltetem Gerat 4 bis 5 Sekundenlang die Starttaste (3 Sekunden, zuzuglich 1 bis 2Sekunden fur den Selbsttest).

Nach funf verwertbaren Pulsschlagen werden diePULSFREQUENZ und das Sp02 des Patienten 30 Minutenlang kontinuierlich gemessen und angezeigt. Wenn eine 2%igeAbnahme des Sp02 erfafit wird, ertonen zwei tiefe Pieptone(und, mit dem N-20P, erscheint ein Sternchen [*] auf demAusdruck.) Nach 30 Minuten schaltet das N-20/N-20Pautomatisch aus.

Tauchen Sie einen OXISENSOR, DURASENSOR, OXIBANDoder RS-10-Sensoren oder andere NELLCORSenaoren, die mitKlebeband befestigt werden, nicht in Wasser oder Reinigungs-lbsungen. Wischen Sie DURASENSOR und OXIBANDSensoren mit einem Reinigungsmittel wie 70%igem Alkohol ab.Nicht mit Gammastrahlen, Dampf oder Ethylenoxidsterilisieren.

Wenn zu starkes UmgebungsUcht zu Problemen fuhrt, miissenSie den Sensor mit uchtundurchlassigem Material abdecken.Wenn Sie das nicht tun, konnen die Messungen ungenauwerden. Dieser Sensor erzielt Mefiwertein Fallen relativ schlechter aufierer Perfiision. Bei niedrigenPerfusionsbedingungen konnen Sie den NELLCOR RS-10Sensor verwenden, der an die Stirn oder Schlafe angelegt wird,Gebiete, die moglicherweise keiner peripherenVasokonstriktion unterliegen.

Wenn die Bewegung des Patienten Probleme hervorruft,miissen Sie prufen, ob der Sensor richtig und fest sitzt. LegenSie den Sensor an einer Stelle an, die weniger starkenBewegungen ausgesetzt ist, oder verwenden Sie einen neuenselbstklebenden Sensor.

Bei jedem Einschalten des N-20/N-20P und beim AnschliefienW eines neuen Sensors erfolgt eine automatische Eichung: das

Funktionelle und fraktionelle Sattigung

Das N-20/N-20P mifit die funktionelle Sattigung, d.h. Oxi-Hamoglobin als Prozentsatz des Hamoglobins, das Sauerstofftransportieren kann. Es stellt keine signifikanten Werte von *<wDishamoglobinen fest. Gerate wie das IL-282-CO-Oximetermessen dahingegen eine fraktionelle Sattigung, d.h. Oxi-Hamoglobin als Prozentsatz alien gemessenen Hamoglobins, weinschliefilich Dyshamoglobins.

Folglich miissen Mefiergebnisse des N-20/N-20P Wfolgendermafien umgerechnet werden, bevor sie mit deneneines Gerates vergUchen werden konnen, das eine fraktionelleSattigung mifit: w

Wenn der Sattigungsgrad aus einer Blutgasmessung vonSauerstoff-Teildruck (P02) berechnet wird, kann derberechnete Wert vom Mefiergebnis des N-20/N-20P abweichen.Der Grund hierfur ist, dafi der berechnete SattigungsgradmogUcherweise nicht auf die Auswirkungen von Variablenkorrigiert wurde, die das Verhaltnis zwischen PO2 und dem ^Sattigungsgrad beeinflussen: Temperatur, pH, Kohlendioxid-Teildruck (PCO2), und dieKonzentrationen von2,3-DPG und ^fetalem Hamoglobin. ^

Verlangerungskabel probieren.

6. In der Anzeige erscheint ERR und eine Zahl.

• Notieren Sie die Zahl und leiten Sie diese Information

an das Fachpersonal oder an Ihren Nellcor-Fachhandler weiter.

7. N-20P: Wahrend des Selbsttests erscheint PR ERR in

der Anzeige.

• Der Drucker ist nicht betriebsbereit, das N-20P erhaltjedoch ganz normal seine MeBergebnisse. Wenden Siesich an das Fachpersonal oder Ihren Nellcor-Fachhandler, damit der Drucker repariert wird.

8. N-20P: Zeit oder Datum falsch.

• Batterie der Echtzeituhr mogUcherweise leer. StellenSie Zeit und Datum erneut ein. Wenn sich die Storungwiederholt, wenden Sie sich an das Fachpersonal oderIhren Nellcor-Fachhandler.

9. N-20P: Druckerpapier wird transportiert, aber keinAusdruck.

• Papier mogUcherweise falsch eingelegt (z.B. falscheSeite des Thermopapiers Uegt oben).

a. Bei einem Papierstau sollte zunachst versucht werden, ^das Papier durch vorsichtiges Hin- und Herbewegenherauszuziehen. Sobald das Papier einreiBt, die >*/Manipulation stoppen. w

b. Sofern das N-20P eingeschaltet ist, die oben auf dem ^

Gerat befindUche Taste —> betatigen und Schritt a >&wiederholen.

c. Wenn das N-20P nicht eingeschaltet ist, Gerat ^einschalten (die Starttaste an der Fronteeite des N-20Pbetatigen) und Schritt a wiederholen.

d. Wenn sich der Papierstau mit den o.g. MaBnahmennicht beseitigen laBt, den Deckel vom Papierausgangs-schlitz abnehmen. Dazu wird das Gerat in beide Hande wgenommen; dann mit den Daumen fest auf den Deckeldruckenund gleichzeitig nach hinten schieben (siehe ^Abbildung 11). Daraufachten, daB das Papier nicht ^noch weiter reiBt. Deckel vorsichtig vom N-20Pabnehmen. Schritte a und b wiederholen. **

Vorsicht: Aufgestautes Papier nicht mit Hilfe vonWerkzeug aus dem Papierfach entfernen. Druckkopf wnicht beruhren. ^

Fachhandler erworben wurde, gewahrt Nellcor demErsterwerber (der "Erwerber") eine Garantie fur die Reparaturoder den Austausch des Gerates, sofern und insoweit Nellcordies zur Behebung von Ausfuhrungs- und Materialfehlern, dieder Erwerber wahrend der "Garantiezeit" reklamiert, fiirerforderUch halt. Die Garantiezeit betragt ein Jahr gerechnetab erstmaliger Lieferung an den Erwerber. Die Garantiebezieht sich auf alle Zubehorteile, die standardmaBig zumGerat gehoren und zusammen mit diesem verpackt werden;ausgenommen hiervon sind: a) die Garantiezeit fur denDURASENSOR Sauerstoffsattigungssensor ist auf der demSensor beiUegenden schriftUchen Garantieerklarungangegeben; und b) die Garantie bezieht sich nicht auf einmalzu verwendende oder patientenspezifische Produkte(einschUeBUch OXISENSOR Sauerstoffsattgungssensoren) undVerlangerungskabel. Die Garantiezeit verlangert sich auchdann nicht, wenn das Grerat innerhalb der Garantiezeitrepariert oder ausgetauscht wird. (Fiir gebrauchte Gerategelten die im Zusammenhang mit dem Verkauf solcher Geratevorgesehenen vertraglichen Garantiebestimmungen).

Zur Geltendmachung von Garantieanspriichen im Zusammenhang mit diesen Garantiebestimmungen ist der Erwerberdazu verpflichtet, die erforderlichen Genehmigungen hierzuvon Nellcor selbst oder von einem autorisierten Nellcor

Vertragshandler einzuholen. Wenden Sie sich an Ihre NellcorVertretung oder an einen autorisierten NeUcor Vertragshandler. Eine Aufstellung der Nellcor Niederlassungenbefindet sich im vorderen Teil dieser Gebrauchsanweisung.

REGELUNG BEI VERSAND

Sofern NeUcor einer Reparatur oder einem Austausch desGerates auf Garantie zustimmt, ubernimmt NeUcor die Kostenfiir den Versand von Leihgeraten sowie von Austauschgeratenoder von reparierten Geraten. AUe anderen Versandkostentragt der Erwerber. Das Risiko eines Verlustes oder einerBeschadigung des Gerates im Rahmen dieser Garantiebedin-gungen, tragt derjenige, der den Versand veranlaBt hat. DerErwerber ist dazu verpfUchtet, alle Gerate, die er im Rahmendieser Garantiebedingungen versendet, durch geeigneteVerpakung vor Beschadigungen zu schiitzen. Wenn derErwerber die an Nellcor geschickten Gerate unsachgemaBverpackt und bei AnUeferung Schaden festgestellt werden (dienicht schon angezeigt worden sind), so wird davonausgegangen, daB diese Schaden wahrend des Transportsentstanden sind; in einem solchen Fall hat der Erwerber dieseSchaden zu vertreten.

Gerate oder Teile hiervon werden im Rahmen dieser Garantienach Nellcor s freier Entscheidung repariert oderausgetauscht; alle ausgetauschten Gerate oder Einzelteilewerden Eigentum von Nellcor. Im Rahmen vonGarantieleistungen ist Nellcor dazu berechtigt, aberkeineswegs dazu verpfUchtet, das Gerat oder Teile hiervon intechnischer Hinsicht zu verbessern.

AUSSCHLUSS VON GEWAHRLEISTUNGSANSPRUCHEN

JegUche Garantieanspriiche fur die Gerate oder fur Einzelteilehiervon sind ausgeschlossen, wenn die Schaden durchunsachgemaBe Behandlung, Fahrlassigkeit oder durch UnfaUentstanden sind, wenn die Schaden durch gerateexterneGriinde, einschUeBUchAusfall oder Storung der Spannungsver-sorgung u.a. entstanden sind; wenn die Schaden durchNichtbeachtimg der NeUcorGebrauchsanweisungen oder durchdas Betreiben mit nicht normgerechten Zusatzgeratenentstanden sind; bei Geraten, deren Seriennummer entferntoder unleserUch gemacht worden ist; wenn es sich um Schadenan Geraten handelt, die von Fremdfirmen ohne Genehmigungvon Nellcor in irgendeiner Weise modifiziert oder gewartetworden sind, bzw. falsch auseinandergebaut oder falsch wiederzusammengebaut worden sind.

Nellcor leistet keine Garantie fur (a) andere Gerate, bei denenes sich nicht um Garantiegerate handelt, (b) fur Gerate, dienicht bei Nellcor oder bei einem autorisierten Nellcor

Fachhandler gekauft worden sind oder (c) fur Gerate, die nichtunter dem Markennamen NELLCOR vertrieben werden.

Fiir die Sicherheit, Zuverlassigkeit und Leistung eines Geratesubernimmt Nellcor keine Haftung wenn: (a) Montagearbeiten,Erweiterungen, Neu-Einstellungen, Anderungen oderReparaturen von Dritten durchgefuhrt werden und nicht vonNellcor-Personal oder von Personen, die NeUcor zurDiirchfuhrung von Reparaturen im Namen von Nellcorautorisiert hat; oder (b) die elektrische Anlage nicht den jeweilsanzuwendenden nationalen oder internationalen Standards

entspricht, einschlieBlich den Anforderungen nach IEC; (c) dasProdukt nicht den Nellcor Gebrauchsanweisungenentsprechend verwendet wird.

jPELIGROI El oxfgeno acelera la combusti6n en formavigorosa. Existe el riesgo de incendio cuando se usa encombinaci6n con un equipo de suministro de oxigeno.Riesgo de explosi6n si se usara en presencia de gasesanestesicos inflamables.

Antes de utilizar el aparato, leer atentamente estemanual, las instrucciones de seguridad para el sensor ylos accesorios, asi como las precauciones por tomar(impresas en negritas).

Para evitar que el cable alargador enrolle al paciente, obien asegure el cable a la cama o Camilla, o bien procureque un profesional sanitario acompane al pacientemientras 6ste este" utilizando el pulsioximetroN-20/N-20P.

El N-20/N-20P debe ser utilizado unicamente como

instrumento complementario para juzgar la condicidndel paciente en combinaci6n con otros medios paradiagnosticar los trastornos y los sfntomas clinicos.

El N-20/N-20P no tiene alarma incorporada. En caso deque se requiera un sistema de alarma, se debera utilizarun oxfmetro provisto de un sistema de alarmaautomatico.

Peligro de choque el£ctrico. S61o las personascalificadas del servicio t£cnico estan autorizadas paraquitar la cubierta. El interior no contiene componentesque puedan ser reparadas por el usuario.

Instrucciones de seguridad

Utilizar exclusivamente los transductores de oxfgeno deNELLCOR; el uso de otros tipos de transductores deoxfgeno puede resultar en un malfuncionamiento deloxfmetro.

Mediciones imprecisas pueden ser causadas por lautilizacion o la aplicaci6n incorrecta del sensor; poraltos niveles de hemoglobina disfuncional (p.ej.carboxihemoglobina o metahemoglobina) o colorantesintravasculares como verde indocianurico o azul de

metileno; por la exposicion a una iluminacidn excesiva,como lamparas quiriirgicas (mas especiflcamente laslamparas al xenon), lamparas de bilirrubina, lamparasfluorescentes, lamparas infrarrojas, o la luz directa delsol; por movimientos excesivos del paciente; porpulsaciones venosas; por interferenciaelectroquirurgica; por la colocaci6n del sensor debajodel manguito de un esflgmoman6metro, un cateterarterial o una canula intravascular. En caso de que laluz ambiental sea excesiva, cubrir el sensor con materialno transparente.

No utilizar ni el N-20/N-20P ni los sensores oximetricos

de NELLCOR durante las sesiones de MRI (ResonanciaMagnetica). La conduccidn de la corriente puede causarquemaduras. Asimismo, el aparato puede influenciar laimagen de la MRI, y la unidad de MRI puede influenciarla precisidn de las mediciones oximetricas.

1. Conectar un sensor adecuado, bloquear la ficha en elenchufe y aplicar el sensor al paciente como indicado.

2. Poner en marcha el N-20/N-20P:

* Para mediciones instantaneas, pulsar el boton ENMARCHA una vez.

• Para mediciones continuas (seguimiento durante30 minutos), mantener presionado el boton ENMARCHA durante 4 6 5 segundos.

3. Solamente para la version N-20P: durante laautocomprobacion, verificar si la pantalla indica PR ON oPR OFF. Para poner en marcha (o apagar) la impresora,pulsar el boton impresora conectada.

4. Para desconectar el N-20/N-20P antes de haber terminado

Instalacion de las pilas

1. Presionar el enganche del compartimiento de baterfa yremover la cubierta.

2. Colocar cuatro pilas alcalinas del formato "C,orientandolas como indicado en la figura 3. Volver a colocarla cubierta del compartimiento de baterfa.

Nota: No usar baterias recargables. La indicacion"baterfa agotada" serfa inexacta, asf como laduration de vida especificada.

Colocar el estuche de proteccion

Para prolongar la vida util de su aparato, Nellcor recomiendaguardar el N-20/N-20P dentro del estuche de protecciondurante el uso.

1. Introducir el N-20/N-20P en el estuche, el fondo primero.

2. Tirar Ugeramente de la parte superior del estuche hastaque cubra el otro extremo del aparato.

N-20P: Ajustar el reloj

El N-20P esta equipado con un reloj de tiempo real de 24 horas.

1. Despues de poner en marcha el N-20P, pulsar el boton llf^.El indicador de SATURACION DEL OXIGENO indica una

"t" (tiempo) y luego, en cifras parpadeantes, la hora.

Pulsar el boton —> para cambiar la hora (figura 4).

2. Pulsar el boton 11^. Pulsar el botdn —> para modificar losminutos indicados en el display de FRECUENCIA DE LASPULSACIONES.

3. Pulsar el boton 11^. Pulsar el bot6n —» para modificar elmes indicado en el display de SATURACION DELOXIGENO.

4. Pulsar el boton II&. Pulsar el botdn —> para modificarlafecha indicada en el display de FRECUENCIA DE LASPULSACIONES.

5. Pulsar el botdn 1!^. Pulsar el boton —» para modificar elaiio indicado en el display de SATURACION DELOXIGENO.

Luego pulsar el boton D& para concluir la operaci6n.

1. Quitar la tapa del papel.

2. Sujetar el rollo como se indica, sujetando el extremo delpapel firmemente entre los dedos pulgar e fndice.Introducir el papel por la ranura hasta que avance unos2,5 cm. Seguir sujetando el papel.

3. Presionar el boton situado en el panel frontal paraencender el N-20.

4. Seguir introduciendo el papel por la ranura y manteneroprimido el interruptor de avance (en la parte superior).

FUNCIONES BASICAS

1. Enchufar un sensor NELLCOR adecuado en la puerta,bloquear la ficha con el enganche y aplicar el sensor alpaciente como se indica en el manual del usuario delsensor. Si es necesario se puede utilizar un cable deextension EC-4.

2. ADVERTENCIA: Durante la autocomprobacion(inmediatamente despues de la puesta en marcha delaparato), comprobarque todos los elementosde la pantallase encienden.

Poner en marcha el N-20/N-20P:

• Para mediciones instantaneas, pulsar el boton ENMARCHA una vez.

• Para mediciones continuas (seguimiento), mantenerpresionado el boton EN MARCHA durante 4 6 5segundos.

(Ver el aDescripti6n de los modos" para mas information.)

Despues de la puesta en marcha, el N-20VN-20Ppruebaautomaticamente los circuitos electricos y se enciendentodos los elementos de la pantalla. Si se detecta unproblema, la pantalla indica un mensaje de error (ver elcapftulo "Seguimiento de averfas"). En caso de bajaluminosidad la luz de la pantalla se enciendeautomaticamente.

Guia de operacion

Al funcionar el aparato, suena una serial acustica mondtonapor cada pulsation, y el indicador de amplitud de laspulsaciones refleja la intensidad de la pulsation debajo delsensor. Si no se detecta la presentia de ningun sensor, lapantalla indica guiones.

3. Solamente para la version N-20P: durante laautocomprobacion, comprobar si la pantalla indica PR ON 6PR OFF. Para poner en marcha la impresora (o paraapagarla), pulsar el boton impresora ON. Si la impresoraestaba desconectada al apagar el aparato, seguiradesconectada a la puesta en marcha siguiente del aparato.Si estaba funtionando al apagar el aparato, seguira enfuncionamiento a la puesta en marcha siguiente delaparato.

4. Para desconectar el N-20/N-20P antes de terminar el ticlo

de medition, pulsar rapidamente el boton EN MARCHAdos veces.

(DES)CONECTAR LA SENAL ACUSTICA

Para (des)conectar la serial acustica mondtona, pulsarrapidamente el boton de verification de baterfa dos veces. Laserial acustica siempre esta conectada a la puesta en marchadel aparato.

FUNCIONAMIENTO DE LA BATERIA

Para verificar el nivel de carga de la baterfa, con el N-20/N-20Pconectado, mantener oprimido el boton de verification debaterfa durante 2 segundos. El porcentaje de segmentosencendidosen el indicadorde amplitud de las pulsacionesindica la carga aproximada: cuando la baterfa estacompletamente cargada se encienden todos los segmentos.

Cuando el indicadorBATERIA AGOTADA permaneceencendida, la impresora es desconectada automaticamente.Cuando el mismo indicador empieza a parpadear, la carga de labaterfa alcanza para aproximadamente una hora defuncionamiento.

Los sensores de NELLCOR

LIMPIEZA/REUTILIZACION

No sumergir los sensores OXISENSOR, DURASENSOR,OXIBAND6 RS-10, ni cualquier otro sensor Nellcor provisto decinta adhesiva en agua o en una solution con detergente.Limpiar los transductores de oxfgeno DURASENSOR,OXIBAND y RS-10 frotandolos con un producto detergentecomo, por ejemplo, alcohol isopropflico. No se debe esterilizarlos sensores mediante rayos gamma, vapor o 6xido de etileno.Para cada paciente se debe utilizar un nuevo adhesivoOXIBAND. No se deben volver a esterilizar ni los Oxisensoresni los RS-10.

RECOMENDACIONES PARA UN FUNCIONAMIENTO OPTIMO

En caso de una luz ambiental excesiva, cubrir el sensor conmaterial no transparente. Al no proceder asi, las medicionespueden resultar inexactas. Las fuentes de luz que puedenafectar el funcionamiento incluyen las lamparas quirurgicas(mas especfficamente las lamparas al xenon), lamparas debilirrubina, lamparas fluorescentes, lamparas infrarrojas y laluz directa del sol.

En caso de maliuntionamiento a causa de un riego sangufneoinsuficiente, cabe considerar el uso del OXISENSOR R-15. Esterealiza las mediciones en la arteria etmoidal del tabique nasalanterior, irrigada por la carotida interna. Dicho sensor es capazde realizar mediciones incluso en caso de un riego sangufneoperiferico relativamente pobre. En caso de un riego sangufneoperifenco pobre,considerar utilizar el NELLCOR RS-10, que seaplica en la frente o en las sienes, zonas que a menudo no sonafectadas durante una vasoconstriction periferica.

Si los movimientos del patiente afectan el funcionamiento delaparato, verificar si el sensor ha sido aplicado y fijadocorrectamente, volver a colocar el sensor en una zona menosactiva, o utilizar un nuevo sensor autoadhesivo.

Evitar que los conectores o conmutadores entren encontacto con un lfquido o que cualquier Ifquido penetre en elaparato a traves de los orificios en el bastidor.

DETERMINAR LA VERSION DEL SOFTWARE

Despues de la autocomprobacion, la pantalla de SATURACIONDEL OXIGENO indica la versi6n del software (p.ej.: 100 es laversion 1.0.0.).

^ Muchasveces por segundo, el N-20/N-20P introduce rayos de\mf luz roja e infrarroja en la zona de aplicati6n del sensor y

determina el grado de absorcion. Las mediciones efectuadas^ durante la pulsationarterial reflejan la absorcion porla sangreW arterial, la sangre no pulsatil y los tejidos. Las mediciones

obtenidas entre las pulsaciones reflejan la absorcion por lasangre no pulsatil y los tejidos. Al corregir la absorcion

\& "durante la pulsacidn" por la absorcion "entre pulsaciones", elN-20/N-20P determina la absorcion de luz roja e infrarroja porla sangre arterial pulsatil. La hemoglobina oxidada y la

v^ reducida no tienen la misma absorcion relativa de luz roja einfrarroja. Esta medicion corregida puede ser utilizada paradeterminar el porcentaje de hemoglobina oxidada en la sangre

v«< arterial: Sp02 representa la relation de la absorcion corregidaen cada longitud de onda.

v^p/ Calibracion automatica

Cada vez que se enciende el aparato y que se conecta un nuevo\& sensor, el N-20/N-20P es calibrado automaticamente; lee la

resistentia de calibracion dentro del sensor para determinar loscoefitientes de calibracion especfficos del mismo sensor.

\0 Asimismo la intensidad de las fuentes luminosas de lossensores es adaptada automaticamente para compensar laoscuridad y las diferencias en espesor de los tejidos.

Saturacion funcional y fraccional

\t0 El N-20/N-20P mide la saturacion funcional, es decir lahemoglobina oxidada expresada en forma de un porcentaje dela hemoglobina capaz de transportar oxfgeno. No detecta

\& niveles significativos de hemoglobina desnaturalizada. Encambio, un aparato como el Oxfmetro CO IL282 mide lasaturation fractional, es decir la hemoglobina oxidadaexpresada en forma de un porcentaje de toda la hemoglobinapercibida, incluyendo la hemoglobina desnaturalizada.

Por consiguiente, antes de comparar las mediciones delN-20/N-20P con las de un aparato que mide la saturacidnfractional, se deben convertir los resultados de las medicionessegun la formula siguiente:

Saturacion medida y calculada

Cuando la saturacidn se calcula a partir de una medicion degas sangufneo de la presion partial del oxfgeno (P02), el valorcalculado puede ser distinto de la medicion del Sp02 por elN-20/N-20P. Esto puede ser debido a que la saturacidncalculada no ha sido corregida respecto a los efectos devariables que modifican la relation entre el P02 y lasaturati6n: temperatura, pH, presion partial del dioxido decarbono (PCO2) y las concentraciones de 2,3-DPG y dehemoglobina fetal.

Si persiste el problema, ponerse en contacto con el serviciotecnico o el distribuidor Nellcor. El manual de servicio tecnico,para uso exclusivo del personal tecnico calificado, proporcionainformaci6n complementaria.

1. El aparato no reacciona cuando se pulsa el bot6n ENMARCHA.

• La puerta del compartimiento de baterfa no esta biencerrada

• Las pilas estan agotadas o han sido puestas al reves

2. Uno 6 maa segmentos de la pantalla no se enciendendurante la autocomprobaci6n.

• No utilizar el N-20/N-20P; ponerse en contacto con elservicio tecnico o con el distribuidor Nellcor.

3. La indicacion deFUNCIONDELOCALIZACION DEL

PULSO se mantiene durante mas de 10 segundos.

• Verificar en las instrucciones de manejo del sensor si elsensor utilizado es apropiado y si ha sido aplicadocorrectamente. Verificar las conexiones del sensor y delcable de extensi6n. Probar el sensor en otra persona.Probar utilizar otro sensor u otro cable de extension.

• La movilidad excesiva del patiente puede impedir queel N-20/N-20P pueda registrar el pulso. Comprobar queel sensor esta bien fijado y sustituirlo si hace falta.Mover el sensor a otro sitio. Probar utilizar otro tipo desensor que tolere mas movimientos del paciente (p.ej.,un sensor autoadhesivo).

• Puede ser que el sensor este demasiado apretado, quela luz ambiental sea demasiado fuerte, o que el sensorse encuentre en una extremidad con un manguito deesfigmomanometro, cateter arterial o una sondaintravascular.

• Movimientos excesivos alrededor del aparato ointerferencias electromagneticas pueden impedir que elN-20/N-20P detecte el pulso.

4. La indicacion de FUNCION DE LOCALIZACION DEL

PULSO aparece despues de una medicion correcta.

• Verificar la condition del paciente.

• Puede ser que el riego sangufneo sea insufitiente paraque el N-20/N-20P pueda registrar el pulso. Verificar lacondition del patiente. Probar el aparato en otrapersona. Mover el sensor a otro sitio. Probar utilizarotro tipo de sensor.

• La movilidad excesiva del paciente puede impedir queel N-20/N-20P pueda registrar el pulso. Comprobar queel sensor esta bien fijado y sustituirlo si hace falta.Mover el sensor a otro sitio. Probar utilizar otro tipo desensor que tolera mas movimientos del patiente (p.ej.,un sensor autoadhesivo).

Segulmlneto de averias

• Puede ser que el sensor este* demasiado apretado, quela luz ambiental sea demasiado fuerte, o que el sensorse encuentre en una extremidad con un manguito deesfigmomanometro, cateter arterial o una sondaintravascular.

• Movimientos excesivos alrededor del aparato ointerferencias electromagneticas pueden impedir que elN-20/N-20P detecte el pulso.

5. La pantalla indica guiones.

• Verificar las conexiones del sensor y del cable deextension. Probar utilizar otro sensor u otro cable deextension.

6. La pantalla indica ERR mas un niimero.

• Apuntar el niimero y dar esta information al personaldel servicio tecnico o al distribuidor Nellcor.

7. N-20P: La pantalla indica PR ERR durante laautocomprobacion.

• La impresora no funtiona, pero el N-20P efectuara susmediciones normalmente. Ponerse en contacto con el

personal del servicio tecnico o el distribuidor Nellcorpara la reparaci6n de la impresora.

8. N-20P: Hora o fecha incorrecta.

• El reloj de tiempo real no funtiona bien. Volver aajustar la hora y la fecha. Si el problema recurre,ponerse en contacto con el personal del servicio tecnicoo con el distribuidor Nellcor.

9. N-20P: El papel de la impresora avanza, pero noaparece ningun texto.

• Puede ser que el papel este mal puesto (p.ej., con lacara orientada al rev6s)

10. N-20P: El impreso es demasiado claro.

• Ponerse en contacto con el personal del servicio tecnicoo el distribuidor Nellcor para hacer ajustar laintensidad de impresion.

11. N-20P: El papel queda atascado

a. Si el papel queda atascado, intentar primero sacarlotirando con cuidado y moviendolo hacia atras y haciadelante; sin que el papel se rasgue.

b. Si el N-20P esta encendido, pulsar el bot6n —> situadoen la parte superior del instrumento y repetir laoperation a.

c. Si el N-20P esta apagado, encenderlo (pulsar el botonEN MARCHA en el panel frontal del N-20P) y repetirla operacion a.

d. Si esto no da resultado, retirar primero la tapa de lasalida del papel. Para ello, coger la tapa firmementecon las dos manos, presionar sobre ella y empujarlahacia la parte posterior de la unidad para que se suelte(ver figura 11). Al hacer esto, tener cuidado de que elpapel no se rasgue mas. Levantar la tapa del N-20P conmucho cuidado y repetir las operaciones a y b.

Atenci6n: No utilizar ningiin instrumento para retirarpapel sobrante del compartimiento. No tocar la cabezaimpresora.

Nellcor garantiza al primer comprador (el "Comprador") detodo NELLCOR N-20/N-20P nuevo (el "Producto Garantizado"),adquirido a Nellcor o a un distribuidor autorizado, que Nellcorse encargara de la reparation o sustituti6n del ProductoGarantizado en la medida en que lo crea razonablementenecesario, para remediar posibles defectos de fabricacidn o demateriales que hayan sido notificados por el Compradordurante el "Periodo de Garantfa". El Periodo de Garantfa es de

uno ano, a partir de la fecha de su primer envfo al Comprador.Durante el Periodo de Garantfa estan tambien cubiertas todas

las piezas y accesorios estandar incluidos en el embalaje delProducto Garantizado, con la excepcidn de: a) el periodo degarantfa del transductor de oxfgeno DURASENSOR se haceconstar en la garantfa que acompana al producto y b) lagarantfa no cubre piezas o productos desechables, objetosdestinados al paciente (incluidos los transductores de oxfgenoOXISENSOR) ni los cables alargadores. La reparation osustitucion de productos bajo esta garantfa no excede el periodode garantfa. (Los productos que no son nuevos estan sujetos alas garantfas concedidas ex profeso con motivo de la venta detales productos.)

Para solicitar una reparation o substitution bajo estecertificado de garantfa, el Comprador debera ponerse encontacto con Nellcor o con un distribuidor de Nellcor

autorizado, a quien pedira la conformidad para devolution demercancfas. En los EEUU, se debera dirigir a NellcorIncorporated, 1-800-NELLCOR.

En otros pafses, el comprador habra de ponerse en contacto conla oficina local de Nellcor o con un distribuidor autorizado. Al

Garantfa

Nellcor detidira si procede reparar o substituir los Productos ypartes cubiertas por esta garantfa. Todos los Productos o piezassustituidos pasaran a propiedad de Nellcor. Durante el serviciode garantfa, Nellcor, sin estar obligada a ello, podra introducirmejoras tecnicas en el Producto Garantizado o parte del mismo.

PROCEDIMIENTO DE ENVIO

En el caso de que Nellcor decida razonablemente que lagarantfa cubre la reparation o substitution, Nellcor asumira losgastos de envfo al Comprador del Producto prestado y delProducto reparado o substituido. Todos los demas gastos deenvfo seran por cuenta del Comprador. La parte que envfe elProducto correra con el riesgo de perdida o deterioro durantelos envfos hechos bajo esta garantfa. Si el comprador envia aNellcor un producto mal embalado, todo desperfecto fisico queel Producto presente a su recepcidn por Nellcor (y que no hayasido notificado de antemano) se supondra ocasionado durante eltransporte y de 61 se hara responsable el Comprador.

EXCLUSIONES

La presente garantfa no cubre los Productos Garantizados opartes de los mismos que hayan sido objeto de uso indebido,negligencia o accidente; que hayan sufrido danos por causasajenas a los Productos Garantizados, como, a simple tftulo deejemplo, cortes de la corriente el6ctrica o empleo de una tensionincorrecta; que se hayan utilizado contraviniendo lasinstrucciones de Nellcor; que se hayan montado en cualquieraccesorio no estandar; de los que se haya quitado o hechoilegible el niimero de serie; o que hayan sido modificados,desmontados indebidamente, que hayan recibido asistentiat6cnica o se hayan vuelto a montar por personas ajenas aNellcor, excepto si han sido autorizados por Nellcor.

Nellcor no ofrece garantfa en relation a (a) cualquier otroproducto que no sea un Producto Garantizado; (b) cualquierproducto adquirido de una persona que no sea de Nellcor o undistribuidor de Nellcor autorizado; (c) cualquier productovendido bajo una marca comercial que no sea la de Nellcor.

AWERTENZE

PERICOLOt L'ossigeno e un ottimo comburente.Potrebbe quindi sussistere il rischio d'incendio in casodi utilizzo con apparecchi per la somministrazione diossigeno. Pericolo di esplosione se utilizzato in presenzadi prodotti anestetici infiammabili.

Prima di usare l'apparecchio leggere attentamente ilpresente manuale, le istruzioni relative ai sensori e agliaccessori, e tutti gli awertimenti (stampati ingrassetto).

Per evitare che il cavo di prolunga del sensore siattorcigli al paziente, o fissare il cavo stesso al letto oalia barella o far si che personale professionale siasempre vicino al paziente durante PutilizzodeirN-20/N-20P.

L'N-20 e N-20P devono essere considerati solo come

strumenti complementari per la diagnosi dei pazienti.Devono quindi essere usati in combinazione alio studiodei segnali clinici e della sintomatologia dei pazienti.

LrN-20/N-20P non dispongono di allarmi. Nei casi in cuiessi siano necessari, preferire un saturimetro munito diun sistema di allarme automatico.

Pericolo di scosse elettriche. La scatola pud essereaperta solo da personale di servizio qualiflcato.AlTinterno dell'apparecchio non vi sono componentisoggetti a manutenzione da parte delFutente.

Usare solo trasduttori di ossigeno NELLCOR; Fuso dialtri trasduttori di ossigeno pud provocare prestazioninon ottimali del saturimetro.

Informazioni di sicurezza

Misurazioni non esatte derivano talvolta

dall'applicazione errata dei sensori o del loro impiegonon corretto; da livelli significativi di emoglobina nonfunzionale (p.es. carbossiemoglobina o metaemoglobina)o coloranti intravascolari quali verde enocianina o blumetilene; dall'esposizione diretta a illuminazioneintensa, quale quella prodotta da lampade chirurgiche(in modo particolare quelle con sorgente luminosa alioxeno), da lampade per fototerapia, da lampadefluorescenti, da lampade a raggi infrarossi o dalla lucesolare diretta; da movimenti eccessivi; pulsazionivenose; interferenza da elettrobisturi; posizionamentodel sensore su un arto sul quale e posto il bracciale diuno sfigmomanometro o su cui sono applicati cateteriarteriosi o linee intravenose. Se l'eccessiva

illuminazione dell'ambiente costituisce un problema,coprire il sensore con materiale opaco.

Non usare FN-20 e FN-20P o i sensori saturimetrici

NELLCOR durante esami di Risonanza MagneticaNucleare (R.M.N.). Le correnti indotte potrebberoprovocare ustioni. Inoltre PN-20/N-20P potrebberointerferire sull'immagine RMN, mentre a sua volta,Papparecchio RMN potrebbe influire sull'accuratezzadelle misure saturimetriche.

PRECAUZIONI

Non immergere PN-20 e N-20P o i loro accessori insostanze liquide e non usare detergenti abrasivi ocaustici.

In caso di magazzinaggio prolungato, rimuovere lebatterie dall N-20/N-20P.

1. Collegare un sensore adeguato, assicurandone il fissaggiotramite l'apposito dispositivo di bloccaggio ed applicare ilsensore al paziente come indicate.

2. Accendere l*N-20/N-20P:

• Per il modooperativo a misura singoia, premere ilpulsante di lettura una sola volta.

INFORMAZIONI GENERALI N-20/N-20P

II saturimetro portatile NELLCOR funziona con due diversimodi operativi: misurazione singoia (spot-check) e in continuo(monitoraggio con durata di 30 minuti); lo strumento misura illivello di saturazione di ossigeno funzionale nell'emoglobinaarteriosa (Sp02) ed il polso arterioso; e inoltre dotato di unastampante incorporate (solo N-20P); e di batterie a lungadurata.

Installazione delle batterie

1. Esercitare una pressione sulla chiusura deH'alloggiamentodelle batterie e togliere il coperchio.

2. Inserire quattro batterie alcaline tipo C, (formatemezzatorcia), disponendole come mostrato nella fig. 3.Chiudere il coperchio.

Nota: Non utilizzare batterie ricaricabili. L'indicazionedel Kvello di carica e della durata delle batteriepotrebbe non essere precisa.

Applicazlone della custodia protettiva

Per aumentare la protezione dei monitor, la Nellcorraccomanda l'uso dell'apposita custodia, durante ilfunzionamento.

1. Introdurre PN-207N-20P nella custodia, inserendovi primail fondo.

2. Tirare leggermente la parte superiore della custodia perfarla passare oltre la sommita dello strumento.

L'N-20 e fornito di un orologio con funzionamento a 24 ore intempo reale

1. Premere il tasto H^, conlo strumento acceso. II display chevisualizza la SATURAZIONE DELL'OSSIGENO mostrauna "f seguita dalle cifre lampeggianti dell'ora.Premere il tasto —> per cambiare l'ora (Figura 4).

2. Premere ancora il tasto 11^. Mediante il tasto —>cambiare i minuti nel display della FREQUENZA DELPOLSO.

3. Premere il tasto I1&. Mediante il tasto —> cambiare ilmese nel display della SATURAZIONEDELL'OSSIGENO.

4. Premere il tasto D&. Mediante il tasto —> cambiare ilgiorno nel display della FREQUENZA DEL POLSO.

5. Premere il tasto H^. Mediante il tasto —> cambiareTanno nel display della SATURAZIONE

DELL'OSSIGENO. Premere II& per l'ultima volte perconcludere l'operazione di regolazione.

OPERAZIONI BASILARI

1. CoUegare il sensore piu adatto alio strumento inserendonela spina nell'ingresso apposito e bloccandola in modo sicuro,quindi applicare il sensore al paziente come descritto nelleistruzioni per l'uso del sensore. Se necessario, utilizzare uncavo di prolunga per sensori NELLCOR EC-4.

AWERTENZA: Durante lo svolgimento del test diautodiagnosi, (che awiene immediatamente dopoPaccensione dello strumento), assicurarsi che tuttigli elementi del display si illuminino!

Accendere l*N-20/N-20P:

• Premere il tasto di lettura di misura una sola volte perutilizzare il modo operativo a rilevazione singoia.

• Tenere premuto lo stesso tasto per 4-5 sec. perUtilizzare il modo operativo a misura in continuo.

(Consultare la "Descrizione dei modi operativi", perulteriori informazioni.)

Subito dopo l'accensione, TN-20/N-20P effettuaautomaticamente un test di autodiagnosi dei circuiti e tuttii display si illuminano. Se si presente. un problema, suldisplay compare un messaggio d'errore, (vedere la sezione"Elenco dei guasti piu comuni"). Se l'intensita luminosadell'ambiente e bassa: si accende la luce di fondo del

display.

Guida al funzionamento

Durante il funzionamento, viene emesso un segnaleacustico a tonalita costante per ogni pulsazione, e1'indicatore dell'ampiezza riflette I'intensita delle pulsazioninel punto di applicazione del sensore. Se il sensore non epresente verranno visualizzati dei trattini.

3. Solo N-20P: durante il test di autodiagnosi, verificare seviene visualizzato PR ON o PR OFF. Per spegnere oaccendere la stampante premere il tasto diAVANZAMENTO. Se la stampante era disinserite almomento in cui si e spento l'apparecchio, essa resteradisinserite al momento in cui si riaccendera lo stesso. Se

era accesa quando si e spento l'apparecchio, saraautomaticamente accesa anche alia riaccensione

dell'apparecchio.

4. Per spegnere rN-20/N-20P prima che il ciclo di misura siaterminate, premere rapidamente due volte di seguito ilPULSANTE DI MISURA/ACCENSIONE.

ATTIVAZIONE E TACITAZIONE DEL BEEP

Premendo rapidamente due volte il pulsante di controllo dicarica delle batterie si tacita il beep che segue la frequenza delpolso. Esso si inserisce automaticamente all'accensione delmonitor.

FUNZIONAMENTO DELLE BATTERIE

Per verificare il livello di carica della batteria, con YN-20/N-2OPacceso premere il pulsante di controllo per circa 2 secondi. IInumero di barre che si illuminano nelFindicatore di ampiezzadel polso daranno un idea della carica; quando tutte le barresaranno illuminate, le batterie saranno completamente cariche.

Quando I'indicatore di carica della batteria si accendera, lastampante verra autematicamente disinserite.; quando inizieraa lampeggiare lo strumento potra funzionare ancora per 1 ora.

• Se FN-20/N-20P e acceso, tenere il tasto di misura premutoper 3 secondi.

• Se lo strumento e spento, tenere il tasto di misura premutoper circa 4-5 secondi (3 secondi, piu 1-2 secondi necessariper il test di autodiagnosi)

Dopo cinque pulsazioni valide, Sp02 e Frequenza del Polsovengono visualizzate e aggiornate ad ogni pulsazione valida. Sel'Sp02 diminuisce del 2% un cicalino emettera due brevisegnali acustici a bassa tonalite (e, nel modello N-20P,comparira un asterisco [*] sullo stampato). UN-20/N-20P sispegne automaticamente una volte trascorsi 30 minuti.

Talvolte e possibile che compaia erroneamente un asterisco perindicare una diminuzione dell'1% di Sp02. Se P Sp02 raggiungeil 98% dopo 30 sec, aumente fino al 99% dopo 37 secondi ediminuisce poi fino al 97% dopo 44 secondi, lo stampatoriportera:

Sensori NELLCOR

PULIZIA/RIUTILIZZO

Non immergere i sensori OXISENSOR, DURASENSOR,OXIBAND o RS-10, oppure i cerotti adesivi Nellcor in acqua oin liquidi detergenti. Pulire i sensori d'ossigenoDURASENSOR, OXIBAND e RS-10 con un detergente tipoalcool isopropilico. Non sterilizzarli irradiazione, vapore oossido di etilene.

Usare un cerotto OXIBAND nuovo per ogni paziente. Nonristerilizzare gU OXISENSOR.

PER UN IMP1EGO OTTIMALE

Se la luce ambientale e eccessiva, coprire Parea di apphcazionedel sensore con del materiale opaco. Trascurare tale misuraprecauzionale potrebbe provocare misurazioni non accurate.Sorgenti luminose che possono influenzare le prestazioni dellostrumento, comprendono le lampade chirurgiche (in modoparticolare quelle con sorgente luminosa alio xenon), lelampade per foteterapia, fluorescenti, a raggi infrarossi e anchela luce solare diretta.

Qualora la perfusione sia debole e renda difficile le misure, siconsiglia di usare YOXISENSOR R-15 che permette dieffettuare rilevazioni dalParteria etoide del setto nasale

anteriore, un'arteria alimentate dalla carotide interna. Questesensore permette di ottenere misure anche quando laperfusione periferica e relativamente debole. In caso di unaperfusione sanguigna periferica bassa, si tenga presente lapossibilita di utilizzare anche il NELLCOR RS-10, che vieneapplicato sulla fronte o alle tempie, aree non soggette avasocostrizione periferica.

Se i movimenti del paziente rendono problematico Pimpiegodello strumento, controllare che il sensore sia state applicato inmodo appropriato e sicuro, spostare il sensore in un'area menoattiva, o usare un altro sensore di tipo adesivo.

Per pulire la superficie dell*N-20/N-20P, usare un pannoinumidito con uno dei prodotti detergent! reperibili incommercio, di tipo non abrasivo. Non nebulizzare o versarealcuna sostanza liquida direttamente sullo strumento o sui suoiaccessori. Evitare che sostanze Uquide: entrino in contetto con iconnettori o gli interruttori o penetrino nello strumento.

DETERMINAZIONE DELLA VERSIONE DEL SOFTWARE

A conclusione del test di autodiagnosi, la versione del softwarecompare nel display della SATURAZIONE di OSSIGENO (peres. 100 significa versione 1.0.0).

Ognisecondo rN-20/N-20P invia molte volte raggi di luce rossasm e infrarossa nel punto di appUcazione del sensore e ne

determina Passorbimento della luce. Le misurazioni effettuate^ durante la pulsazione arteriosa riflettono quelle ottenibili sumf sangue arterioso, sangue non pulsatile e tessuti. Le

misurazioni effettuate tra le pulsazioni riflettono^ Passorbimento dovutoal sangue non pulsatile ed ai tessuti. Nelm correggere Passorbimento "durante la pulsazione" e quello Ktra

le pulsazioni'', l*N-20/N-20P determina Passorbimento di lucew rossaed infrarossa da parte del sangue arterioso pulsatile.m Poiche Pemoglobinaossigenata e quella non ossigenata

Calibrazione automatica

Saturazione misurata e calcolata

Quando la saturazione viene calcolata da una misuraemogasanaUtica della pressione parziale di ossigeno (P02), talevalore potrebbe differire da quello ottenuto tramitePN-20/N-20P. Cio deriva dai fatto che la saturazione calcolata

potrebbe non essere corretta ai fini delle variabili cheinfluiscono nella relazione tra P02 e saturazione: owero

temperatura, pH, pressione parziale di anidride carbonica(PCO2), concentrazione di 2,3-DPG e emoglobina fetale.

1. L'apparecchio non reagisce alia pressione del tastodi misura.

• II coperchio di accesso al vano portabatterie potrebbenon essere state chiuso bene.

• Le batterie sono probabilmente scariche o posizionatein senso errato.

2. Uno o piu segmenti del display non si accendonodurante il test di autodiagnosi.

• NON utiUzzare l*N-20/N-20P; contattare il personalequaUficato di assistenza tecnica o il distributoreNellcor.

3. L'indicatore RICERCA del POLSO rimane acceso perpiu di 10 secondi.

• Consultare le istruzioni per Puso del sensore al fine distabilire se e state usato il sensore adatto e se e stato

applicato correttamente. ControUare i connettori delsensore e quelU del cavo. Provare il sensore su un'altrapersona. Utilizzare un altro sensore o un altro cavo.

La perfusione potrebbe essere insufficiente perpermettere alPN-20/N-20P di rilevare il polso.Controllare lo state del paziente. Provare il sensore suun'altra persona. UtiUzzare un altro sensore.

Movimenti eccessivi del paziente possono impedire aliostrumento di rilevare il polso. Assicurarsi che il sensoresia steto appUcato in modo sicuro e sostituirlo senecessario. Cambiare il punto di appUcazione delsensore. UtiUzzare un tipo di sensore che tollera megUoi movimenti del paziente (per es. un sensore adesivo).

II sensore e troppo stretto, c'e troppa luce neU'ambiente,o il sensore e state appUcato su un arto dove si trova unbracciale per sfigmomanometro, un catetere arterioso ouna Unea endovenosa.

* L'attivita di ricerca del polso puo essere impedita daeccessivi movimenti neU'ambiente o da interferenza

elettromagnetica.

4. L'indicazione RICERCA del POLSO compare dopouna misurazione riuscita.

* Controllare lo steto del paziente.

* La perfusione potrebbe essere insufficiente perpermettere alPN-20/N-20P di rilevare il polso. Provareil sensore su un'altra persona. Posizionare il sensorealtrove. UtiUzzare un altro tipo di sensore.

* Movimenti eccessivi del paziente possono impedire aliostrumento di rilevare il polso. Assicurarsi che il sensoresia state appUcato in modo sicuro e sostituirlo senecessario. Cambiare il punto di appUcazione delsensore. UtiUzzare un tipo di sensore che tollera megUoi movimenti del paziente (per es. un sensore adesivo).

* II sensore stringe troppo, c'e troppa luce neU'ambiente,o il sensore e state appUcato su un arto dove si trova unbracciale per sfigmomanometro, un catetere arterioso ouna Unea endovenosa.

5. Sul display compaiono dei trattini.

• Verificare il sensore o i connettori del cavo. Provare unaltro sensore o un cavo diverso.

6. II messaggio ERR seguito da un numero compare suldisplay.

• Annotare il numero e fornirlo al personale quaUficatodiassistenza tecnica NeUcor o del distributore Nellcor.

7. N-20P: II messaggio PR ERR viene visualizzatodurante il test di autodiagnosi.

• La stampante non e in grado di funzionare, ma 1"N-20Peseguira lo stesso le normali misurazioni. Contattare ilpersonale quaUficato di assistenza tecnica o ildistributore Nellcor per riparare la stampante.

8. N-20P: Ora o data errata.

• L'orologio potrebbe essere rotto. Aggiornare Pora e ladate. Se Pinconveniente persiste, contattare ilpersonale quaUficato di assistenza o il distributoreNellcor.

9. N-20P: La carta avanza ma non viene stampata.

• La carte e state montata in modo errato (per es. lafacciata inferiore del rotelo di carte termica e rivolta in

su).

10. N-20P: La stampa e poco visibile.

• Contattare il personale quaUficato di assistenza o il ^Distributore NeUcor per la regolazione dell'intensita distampa. w

11. N-20: Inceppamento carta.

a. Se la carta si inceppa, tentare di estrarla tirandola ^deUcatamente e cercando di muoverla avanti e indietro.Se la carte si strappa ulteriormente, interrompere il ^tentativo. ^

b. Se PN-20Pe acceso, premere il pulsante —> posto suUa s#parte superiore dello strumento e ripetere quindi ^Poperazione spiegata al punto a.

c. Se PN-20P e spento, accenderlo (premendo il pulsante ^di misura posto sul pannello frontale delPN-20P) eripetere Poperazione di cui al punto a. ^

Se questi tentativi non consentono di eliminare ilproblema, rimuovere lo sportellino di uscita della cartaesercitandovi pressione con entrambe le mani espingendo al contempo in avanti il retrodell'apparecchio (vedere Figura 11), Fare attenzione anon strappare ulteriormente la carta. SoUevare quindi s»lo sportellino per staccarlo dall*N-20P. Ripetere leoperazioni da a) a b). "*
