Introduction

The English Language subject is compulsory for PMR and SPM. The curriculum has been

set up by the Ministry of Education carefully as to prepare students to the real world. Lately,

there has been much discussion on the issue of students being unable to master the English

Language. The Ministry of Education is very serious in handling this issue. The most important

thing is to instill the importance of English language in daily life.

Teachers should create interest in students towards the language. Variety of activities and

emphasizing the usage of the language are ways to ensure that students speak in English. We

also need to provide ample reading materials in English to increase their interest to read books

written in English.

The English Language Panel had been developed together with the school since 2002. Since

then, a lot of activities and plans had been carried out by the previous and former leaders of the

panel as to ensure the school’s vision and mission can be achieved successfully.

Currently, we have six experienced and dedicated teachers to carry out this challenging task.

We hope all the plans and activities to be held throughout 2012 will be successfully done and

give benefits for all students.

THE ANALYSIS OF 2011 PMR RESULT AND PMR TARGET FOR 2012-2014.

Figure 1

The graph above (Figure 1) shows the comparison of the PMR result for the last

3 consecutive years. As an overall overview, the percentage stands at 75.42%. It shows

a slightly decreasing trend about 1.88% in 2011 compared to 2010. There were only

135 candidates passed (Grade A - D), out of 182 total candidates while the other

24.58% or 44 candidates failed the subject (Grade E) and 3 students (1.65%) were

absent. (Please refer to Table 1.1).

11

Page 12: Operational Plan 2012

In 2011, there were only 8 candidates (4.47%) got grade ‘A’, compared to 20

candidates (8.1%) in 2010. The panel still needs to put on serious efforts as to improve

the students achievement from time to time.

The analysis over the past 5 years result is shown on the radar graph (Please

refer to the Figure 3). From the graph, we can conclude that the results are within the

range of 70% – 80%. Based on the statistics, we have identified most of the strengths,

weaknesses and suggestions as to overcome the problems. We have also set the

targets of the PMR for the next 3 consecutive years (Please refer to Table 1.2 and

Figure 2) as to achieve our vision successfully.

The key improvement programmes are very important in order to achieve the

targets (Please refer to Figure 4). But to make it becomes a reality, not only the

programmes, all members of the panel should also cooperate as a team to carry out the

responsible together with the school administration, students and parents.
