RoadmapComparative Perspective @BeDjango

What is your perspective?

Open edX and Moodle are two educative platforms which have been

designed for different objectives and needs. In other words, they cover

RoadmapComparative Perspective @BeDjango

Self-Definition: The Open edX platform is a

free--and open source--course management

system (CMS) that was originally developed

by edX. The Open edX platform is used all

over the world to host Massive Open Online

Courses (MOOCs) as well as smaller classes

and training modules.

Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web.

VS

Self-Definition: Moodle is a free, online

Learning Management system enabling

educators to create their own private

website filled with dynamic courses that

How important are the functionalities when they are enough to implement

your educational approaches, methods and techniques?

Open edX Vs Moodle

Both platforms are able to cover the needs for the different existing

approaches and their characteristics, however we are going to focus on those

characteristics where the differences can appear:

● Student-centered

● Content-centered

● Teacher-centered

● Massive-access

Functionality is not so important!

Both platforms are plenty of functionalities, activities, plugins and huge

communities supporting them. You will always be able to use them to cover

your needs, but choose the platform according to the needs of your

educational approaches, and also, your business model.

RoadmapComparative Perspective @BeDjango

It was borned in 2012 and it was created to evolve the digital philosophy of teaching and learning by implementing MOOC.(2012 edX -> 2014 Open edX)

It is mature enough to take part of the most important universities in the world and has a huge and important community behind.

If you want to get massive capabilities better choose this platform. Massive is usually incompatible with individualized attention.

VS

It was borned first in 2002, and it was created

for more general purpose educational

approaches.

It is a very mature platform with a “large”

tradition.

It enables a more individualized attention to

your students.
