Setting up the data infrastructure
Each player selects a set of coloured counters
One player picks 1 data tile & places it as open data
Each player randomly pick 2 data tiles each
Pick 1 tile to play as closed data next to middle tile
Put one of your counters on your data tile
Roles
Each player randomly pick a role cardDon’t show other playersThis determines how you play and how you win
Each player is dealt 3 tool cards to start Playing the game is about using data to build tools!
Tools
Release and reuse data
Take a data tile at random (no peaking)Try to build tools by releasing and reusing data setsTrade tools and data tiles or “do deals” to open dataYou can reuse open data to build your toolsYou cannot reuse other players closed or private data
Events
Each turn an event occurs impacting environment, society or the economy (changes the dashboard)After building tools, player draws 1 event card and follows the instructionsIf any item on the dashboard reaches -4 you’re in a crisis! Work together to avoid it!
CRISIS! Emergency response
Player begins turn with -4 dashboard need to respond to the crisis!Work with everyone to trade and make deals that result in tools being built to restore the dashboard above -4Any tools built are worth 2 impact pointsAfter a third crisis, the game ends, everyone loses!
Get some more tools
End of your turn you can optionally discard any of your tool cards for anotherPick up tool cards to keep 3 in your hand at the end of your turn
Ending the game
The game ends when someone reaches 10 points - that person is a winner
If your Role’s dashboard score is highest when the game wins, you are also a winner!
If everyone’s dashboard score is +4 at the end of the game, then everyone wins
If the dashboard reaches a crisis a third time, then everyone loses!
