1.Introduction: DPH513 is next generation ONLINE pH Controller designed & developed by Global Electronics. It is a versatile instrument, which employs a unique “Dual Mark Space Automatic control algorithm” for control mechanism of pH. It also has powerful communication interface Modbus communication (Modbus protocol). 2. Description:

DPH513 is Micro controller based design with advanced fault tolerant design. It simultaneously displays pH or ORP and Temperature. It incorporates advanced calibration method through the software. User can select primary display for pH or ORP. This unit has a powerful communication interface using RS 485 multi dropping communication protocol which connects up to 30 Instruments to a Host Computer / SCADA system on a single pair of wires. 3. Salient Features: Microprocessor based design with `Self Diagnostics Program’ the system

checking itself, the electrode and temperature sensor for faults.

Truly versatile stand-alone instrument.

Extremely user-friendly keyboard and prompting display for easy operation.

Easy calibration from keyboard.

Display of pH with selectable mV display for ORP & Temperature.

6. Front panel keys operation:

ProGraM/Escape Key, Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

At “Power ON” if this key is pressed, it initiates “Configuration mode” & “Load Default”

During normal “Run mode”, if this key is pressed, “Program mode” is initiated Return from any mode without saving changes (Escape) Return back to previous screen (Back)

DOSE/SCROLL Key, Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

For manual dosing selection (in RUN mode “DOS?”). Select next function available in Configuration mode & Program mode. Select next digit when user is entering any numerical data (e.g. Password

entry, Calibration values, etc.)

HIGH/INCREMENT Key, Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

When manual dosing selected (within 5 sec) and instrument in Normal or

High control then use for High dosing selection (in RUN mode “HI?”). Increments selected digit during the data entry (roll over to minimum digit

after digit value reached to maximum).

LOW/DECREMENT Key, Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

When manual dosing selected and instrument in Normal or Low control then

use for Low dosing selection (in RUN mode “Lo?”). Decrements selected digit during the data entry (roll over to maximum digit

after digit value reached to minimum).

ENTER/ACKNOWLEDGE Key, Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default Program.

Display mV (if primary display is pH) Start dosing HI or LO dose, if HI or LO dose is selected. Acknowledge alarm. Goes into the selected displayed function. Accepts and stores displayed value or status. Accept and store program changes.

11. Front panel LED indications:

The Front panel display is having two rows with four 7- segment led’s on the upper row

and three 7-segment led’s on lower row. In addition, it has 11 LED Annunciation indicators.

1. HI limit LED indicates pH has crossed HIGH limit set point (even if control is OFF). 2. DOSE LED is ON while dosing (MARK).

3. LOW limit LED indicates pH has crossed LOW limit set point (even if control is OFF). 4. HALT LED indicates control is off.

5. COMMUNICATION LED blinks when slave is communicating with master. 6. PGM LED indicates Instrument is in other than RUN mode. 7. pH LED indicates instrument showing pH in first row of display. 8. HT LED indicates Temperature has crossed HIGH limit of Temperature.

9. mV LED indicates instrument showing milli volts in first row of display.

10. C LED indicates instrument-showing temperature in second row of display. 11. ATC LED indicates instrument is in ATC mode when it glows continuously,

in MTC mode ATC LED blinks.

RUN Mode: Displays pH or ORP & Temperature with visual status annunciation of limits and other functions / modes. Whenever the device is switched “ON”, it performs “Self Test” and if no key pressed during Power On, it goes into RUN mode, it remain in RUN until any key press.

RUN mode function:

Displays pH or ORP (as per primary display selection) & HI or LO limit with dose status.

Displays temperature, temperature compensation (ATC or MTC) type & HIGH temperature limit status.

If ENTER key press then instrument will display mV if it is in pH mode & remain until 1 minute or again ENTER key press.

Shows if instrument is in HALT (no control).

If control is activated & pH crossed any of limits as per auto control mark/space relays will switch ON.

If SCRL/DOSE key is pressed it will display dos? on the upper row and waits for 5 second for HI or LO key press otherwise display again pH.

If INCR/Hi key is pressed and if Instrument in Normal or High control mode it will display Hi? For 5 second or up to enter key press.

If DECR/Lo key is pressed and if Instrument in Normal or Low control Mode it will display Lo? For 5 second or up to enter key press.

If ENT key press then Instrument will dose for preset period as per Hi or Lo control.

►: In run mode when scroll key is pressed it displays doS? as shown. This is manual dose setting for pH. ▲: If instrument is in Normal/High control mode then only this key will activate & Hi? Will display on first line for 5 second. ▼: If instrument is in Normal/Low control mode then only this key will activate & Lo will display

on second line for 5 second or enter key press.

ENT: Start dosing HI. ENT: Start dosing LO.

PGM mode: To enter into PGM mode user has to press PGM key after power ON.

Note: The PGM mode is password protected. The display is as shown below. ENT: Prompts the user for password. PGM: Goes to RUN mode again.

To enter into program mode first user has to enter correct password. ►: Select next digit. ▲/▼: Increment / decrement selected digit by 1 for each keystroke. ENT: Enters into program mode if password is correct. PGM: Goes to RUN mode again.

If the password entered is correct, it will go to Channel Selection function. If user entered password is not correct then display is as shown. This screen will be there for few Seconds and returns to previous screen.

If the password is not correct, it will show the following screen:

If the entered password is correct, display will be as Shown. After entering PGM mode user has access to five sub modes.

Calibration Mode: In DpH-513 calibration can be done for pH and temperature. For pH, one, two and three-point calibration is possible where as for Temperature One, two-point calibration is possible.

Display shows it is ready for Calibration. ►: Enters into next mode i.e. LIMIT setting. ENT: Enters into pH CAL display as shown. PGM: Goes to previous screen.

PH Calibration: On this display, we can see that C annunciation LED is not glowing indicating that process of calibration is taking place.

►: If scroll key is pressed process will go to temperature calibration. ENT: Enter into 1 pt pH calibration. PGM: Goes to previous screen.

One Point Calibration: ►: Enters into 2-point pH calibration. ENT: Displays pH value set previously on upper screen with 1p1 on lower screen. PGM: Goes to previous screen. ►: Selects other Standard pH values i.e. 4.01,10.01 ENT: Display blinks alternatively with two values Actual value and calibration standard value indicating the process of calibration has started. PGM: Goes to previous screen

Single-point pH (Graph) calibration: In this mode any one of the standard pH value Can be calibrated i.e. 4.01,7.00 or 10.01 can be calibrated individually. This is also Called slope calibration.

►: Enters into normal pH calibration. ENT: Displays all zero’s 00.00 on the upper row With 1PH on the lower screen. PGM: Goes to previous screen. ►: If scroll key is pressed selects next digit and digit blinks. ENT: Enters into 1pt calibration. PGM: Goes to previous screen.

This screen appears when calibration is done wrongly and this will be there for few seconds and returns to previous screen.

LIMIT Mode: To enter into LiMit mode, user has to press ► key after calibration mode Screen. This limit mode setting is for Auto pH dosing control it’s having six limit settings Available in DpH-513 they are VH, HH, Hi, Lo, LL, and VL (Range –2.00 to 14.00 pH). Sets Hi and Lo limit for Auto dosing. For High and Low limit Relay 1& 2 will switch on Respectively.

SET MARK SPACE Mode: This mode setting controls the ON/OFF time for both pH control relays. The mark space timing for relays range from 1 to 250 seconds. Primary Display mode: Using this mode a choice can be made that either pH or ORP should appear on the screen. By default pH will appear on screen.

►: Goes to High temperature limit setting mode. ENT: Enters into selection of either pH or ORP. PGM: Goes to previous screen. ►: Selects ORP mode. ENT: Accepts and stores selected mode (pH or ORP). PGM: Goes to previous screen.

Error1 (er1) is displayed when ADC error occurs.

Error2 (er2) is displayed when error occurs due to wrong calibration CAL error.

Error3 (er3) is displayed when error results from storing and retrieving data from

nonvolatile memory EEPROM error.

Error4 (er4) is displayed when wrong password is entered PASSWORD error.

Error5 (er5) is displayed If pH calibration is done without temperature compensation

GLOBAL ELECTRONICS warrants its products, when properly applied and operated under normal conditions, to be free from faulty workmanship or defective materials for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of original shipment. Global products repaired or replaced pursuant to this warranty shall be warranted for the unexpired portion of the warranty applying to the original products. The liability of Global under this warranty shall exist provided that

a) Global is promptly notified upon discovery of such defects by Buyer; and b) The defective product is returned to Global, transportation paid by Buyer or at Global’s

discretion the said product is inspected and repaired at Buyer’s site; and c) Global’s examination of such product disclose that there was defect in Global material

or workmanship; and d) Global name plates and markings have not been altered or removed. e) The safety procedures mentioned in this manual are strictly adhered to. f) The unit is always used within the specifications and environment mentioned in this

manual and never misused. In the event the defect is determined to be within the terms of this warranty, Global agrees to repair the product or the defective portion at no charge to Buyer and to pay for transportation back to Buyer. This warranty does not apply to consumable items like electrodes, conductivity cells, temperature sensors, fuses etc. or parts which in Global’s opinion have been subject to misuse, neglect, altered or damaged by accident or abnormal conditions of operation or handling. Global reserves the right to make changes in design and specifications without notice and without any obligation of such changes on units purchased.
