The Most Holy Trinity June 7, 2020

My Dear Sisters and Brothers,

I have received notification from the Diocese of Orange that Bishop Vann has authorized parishes to begin celebrating the Eucharist in our Churches starting with the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, June 13th and 14th. I am looking forward to seeing your faces at Mass, of course with your face masks on.

Bishop Vann continues to lift the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays to all Catholics in the Diocese of Orange. It is strongly recommended that if you are 65 years of age or have any form of compromised im-munity that you continue to stay home. You are still at a very high risk of suffering grave illness because of the Covid-19 virus.

In preparing for a return to celebrating Mass publicly there are many concerns that we need to address before we open the Church.

• We will be limited to only 100 people in the Church for any of our services. This includes the priest, deacon, altar servers, lectors and ushers. For this reason, we are considering celebrating Mass either in the Hall or out on the field.

• We will need to control entering the Church, seating, going to Com-munion and leaving the Church or Hall. We need to ensure that people do not cross over each other.

• Everyone will need to be wearing face masks, no exceptions. If you cannot wear a face mask because of breathing problems, you should stay home.

• You will need to sanitize your hands upon entering the Church. We will provide hand sanitizer.

• You will not be able to choose where you would like to sit. Seating will begin at the front of the Church and fill in behind each open pew to the rear of the Church.

• After each Mass, both for Sunday and weekdays, anything that could be touched will need to be wiped down with sanitizer.

• All the missalettes and song books will be removed from the Church. • Because of the extra time that will be needed to wipe down the

Church/Hall, the following schedule will be enacted.

+Saturday: 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM (Spanish) +Sunday: 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM (Spanish), 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM (Spanish)

• If we need to have extra Masses in the Hall, the Masses will be at the same time.

• You will need to make a reservation to attend Mass on Sundays and weekdays. Please use the reservation feature on our parish website: www.saintjustin.org, or call the parish office at 714-774-2594 Mon-day through Friday from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.

• Consideration of having Mass on the Field will depend on attendance and the weather.

We will need extra help to be able to ensure everyone’s safety. If there are not enough people to assist at the Masses, we will not be able to move forward with opening the Church for Mass.

When we can come together for Mass, the following practices will need to be adhered to:

∗ You will need to have your face mask on for the entire time you are on Church property, including the parking lot.

From the Pastor: Returning to Public Celebration of the Eucharist:

When you first arrive at the gates near the Church entrances, you will be greeted by our hospitality ministers, who will ask for your reserva-tion confirmation, how you are feeling, if you have knowingly come in contact with anyone infected with the Covid-19 virus and your tempera-ture will be taken.

You will then proceed through the passageway between the Church and the Rectory to the main doors facing Ball Road. Entrance into the Church will only be by the Ball Road doors. Exits will only be at the side doors. ∗ No physical greetings of any sort. No hugs, no handshakes, no kiss-

es. ∗ No crossing over of people in the pews. Everyone will need to enter

a pew from the same side and leave out of the other side. If for example you decide not to receive communion, you will still need to exit the pew so that those who are going to communion will not have to cross over you.

∗ No holding of hands at the Lord’s prayer ∗ No physical touching at the sign of peace. ∗ You may briefly remove your mask to receive communion in the

hand. Communion will be received by the minister dropping the host into your hand. Please do not endanger the minister or other parish-ioners by insisting to receive Communion on the tongue. Yes, you have a “right to receive on the tongue,” but since air passageways (mouth and nose) are where the coronavirus dwell and infect the lungs, please do not expose the priests or Communion ministers to the possibility of infection. The common good take precedence over your piety.

∗ There will be no collection of your support for the parish during Mass. Please continue to use or sign up for on-line giving or text to give that are found on our parish website. You may also use your bank’s electronic checks or bill pay service to send your donation to the parish. We will have baskets at the entrance of the Church for you to deposit your donation to the Church.

∗ You will leave by the side doors towards the front of the Church. You will be invited to follow the directions of the hospitality ministers.

I am sure some of you may be thinking that these rules are strict. I am being strict because I care very deeply about you. I have served you as pastor these 12 years. I take my responsibilities very seriously. I have and will continue to look for the best for all our parishioners. I hope that you will be as concerned for all our parishioners as well.

We have all had to make sacrifices these last few months. I believe these sacrifices were worth it in ensuring that people did not get infect-ed with the Covid-19 virus. The death by this virus is by asphyxiation as a person’s lungs fill up with fluid. To me it seems to be a very fright-ening way to die. If the closing down of the Churches prevented this virus from spreading to one person, it was worth it to me. If by follow-ing these rules we can prevent people from being infected, it is worth the sacrifice. I know of your goodness and I trust that you will be as careful as you possibly can as we enter this new phase of the pandem-ic.

Fr. Joe Robillard

GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked ourselves at times? Complain-ing . . . impatient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Ac-cordingly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s forgiveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoic-ing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Spiritual communion

The Holy Father invites all those watching or listening to the liturgy of the Mass to make a spiritual commun-ion. He uses the prayer composed by St. Alphonsus di Liguori:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if you were already there, and I unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Food Distribution Our St. Vincent DePaul volunteers give out food on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the back parking lot.

Our next dates are June 13 and 27

This is drive-through distribution of pre-packaged food.

Confessions Are Back! Confessions will resume with safety measures in place. They will be taking place in the shelter area and the parish center patio. Marks on the wall will be placed to maintain social distance. Please wear a facemask. New confession schedule: Saturdays 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM Confessions will be English and Spanish.

Drive-by Blessings

Blessings will take place in the large parking lot between 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please follow the signs.

• June 7th, for Rev. Alejandro, 1st priestly blessing as a newly ordained priest.

We will also have the following blessings (time to be determined)

• June 21st, Father’s Day Blessing • June 28th, Farewell to Fr. Joe & Fr. Manuel.

As we reopen the church for Mass, the follow-ing safety guidelines need to be followed:

• Facemasks must be worn during the entire time in all church property and buildings—parking lot included. You may briefly re-move facemask when receiving commun-ion on the hand to consume.

Before entering the church building for Mass: • Be prepared to have your temperature

checked. • Put on hand sanitizer as you enter the

church—entrance will be by Ball Road doors.

• Sitting will start at the front to the back, as directed by hospitality volunteers.

• If not receiving communion, please also exit the pew to avoid anyone crossing over each other.

In the Parish Office: • We will be admitting one person at a time

(or two if from the same household).

In the parking lot: • Please practice social distance and enter/

exit the property swiftly.

Missalettes available for purchase

We have the Ordinary Time missalettes that are generally in the pews available for a dona-tion. To avoid shared touched objects, we will not have any in the pew. Instead you can pur-chase one to take and bring with you when attending Mass. They will be available beginning June 13-14 in the shelter area. You can pick one up and drop your donation in the box.

Suggested donation $5.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY, HEALTH OF THE SICK DURING THE CORONA-

VIRUS PANDEMIC

O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, united with Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this mo-ment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. He who took our suffering upon Him-self, and burdened Himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas — we who are put to the test — and deliver us from every danger. O glorious and blessed Virgin. —Pope Francis, March 11, 2020 © Libreria Editrice Vaticana
