Stepping Outside The Box Let us get right to the heart of things. This is not sto-ry telling just for entertainment. What is the message of this tale of three kings from the orient, following a star, visiting and worshipping the baby Jesus, bringing him gifts? The hint is that they were from the East. They are not Jews. The message is that Jesus, his message, and his salvation, is shown to all people regardless of origins or nationality. These three guys were not actual-ly kings. They were star gazers. They were star trek-kers. They were barrier breakers, shattering false ethnic fences. Today’s feast declares an end to the idea of national or personal exclusive gods. Jesus is universal. We cannot even personally possess Jesus. He is not anyone’s personal savior. He is mani-fested, shown and revealed to everyone. Jesus is the light of the whole world. Life is full of what we can call, epiphany moments. These are a glimpse of the Almighty, shining among us, showing his Glory. Sadly, we tend to miss those mo-ments because we are “short sighted” or spiritually lim-ited. Our anxieties and concerns, occupy so much of our time, we can’t see or hear what God is revealing to us. We have to be spiritual seekers. Like the magi, those wise seekers, we have to step outside the box and step into a holy place, a place within ourselves in which God lives. We have to leave behind or get out of those boxes of our routine and conceded opinions and find our desire of the heart. Only then will our eyes be opened and we will give homage to our King. This story is not simply for entertainment. It is a challenge for us. If Jesus can be for anyone, regardless of who they are, or where they are from, can we? Can we be a light for those different from us?

Vocation Brief

All too often we forget to express appreciation to those in service-oriented jobs, including priests, sisters and brothers. We forget because we think, “It’s their job to help.” Priests and religious aren’t superhuman. They need genuine support from those they serve. Let them know how you feel.

Hosts & Wine for St. Justin Martyr

The honor of providing the Bread and Wine at every Mass, can be yours. The bread and wine are consecrated into the Body and Blood of Christ. The hosts are made by the cloistered Dominican

Those who would like to donate the Hosts and Wine for the Masses of each month are invited to do so. The hosts and wine could be given in memory of departed loved ones. The offering for the hosts for one month would be $270 and the offering for the wine for one month would be $150. To make this donation, contact Karen Rachal in the parish office, 281-556-5116. _____________________________________________

God our Father, you are the source of all goodness and of every blessing under heaven.

We give you praise and thanks for the gift of our Catholic faith and for more than 170 years of living and witnessing to that faith in Texas.

We ask for your blessings upon our effort to help secure the future of the Church in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Replace the eleven HVAC units attached to the church that are 30 + years old.

Install new LED light system in the sanctuary of the church.

The Total Campaign Goal for St. Justin Martyr is $907,414. We have the potential to keep $300,000 and even more for our parish if all of us participate.
