One yes, has changed my life

Really some ‘yes’ have power to change our whole lives.

Since my childhood days I love to speak on stage. Once I got a chance to represent my school in debate. It was a tough decision to say 'yes ' because I was offered that opportunity one day before the competition as one candidate denied to participate and for debate 2 participants are compulsory from each institution.

I accepted the challenge. Now the question was how to prepare? Material, speech style, practice all in a short span of time. Generally a debater starts preparing for the competition before 10 or 15 days and I was supposed to be prepared for that in 8 hours. I have prepared to the best of my level.

If you believe it will work out, you’ll see opportunities.

If you believe it won’t you’ll see obstacles.

I presented my speech in front of my principal. She was not at all satisfied and was saying that if you are not prepared you must not go and her harsh words made me cried in front of everyone. Actually the school has no option but to send me as the other girl with me was a strong candidate.

I respect those who tell the truth to me, no matter how hard it is.

The competition time was in front of me. I was so much frightened. There was a chit system there, with every chit my heart bit was getting faster and faster. Finally my name was announced, my brain was saying that don’t go but my heart said go and face whatever the situation is.

I went to stage, the first 2 lines were messed up, and after that the flow was good. Overall my speech was average and the other girl with me has won the competition. That competition day has taught me various new things and I have decided that I will improve my presentation skills. Next day I was called on school stage and the principal has appreciated me for representing our school.

After that I started working on my skills. I have joined an institute, improved my English. I used to spoke in front of mirror for hours. My hard work has given me the gift of “Best Debater” title next year. After that I achieved many prizes in Speech and presentation and today 'public speaking' is my top most interest.

It is said that one person can change your whole lives, that person should be you.

Today I think that if I have said “No”, that day then I would never have realized my hidden potential. It might be a situation that I become a stage fearing person. Today also I'm not perfect but much better than that day.

Really it’s true that we should never say ‘No’ to an opportunity.

In our professional lives also it happens that we get annoyed when our boss and manager assign us new and different tasks. Sometimes we also say ‘No’, but actually we do not realize that what we might lose because of this ‘No’.

Yes, it’s also true that we should understand our priorities and work accordingly but before saying ‘No’ we must think twice. It might happen that this small word ‘No’ can become a hurdle to our future career, a hurdle to the path of becoming CEO of a company.

So take challenges and face them.

Person who try to something and fail are infinitely better than those who tries nothing and succeed.
