HS Volleyball
The CIS High School Volleyball team is off to a smashing start this season!
The team went 1-1 last week, losing their first game of the season to Cayman Acade-my in a tight 3 set match. Later in the week the team re-grouped to defeat St. Ignatius in 2 straight sets. Monday was a quick re-match against St. Ignatius and CIS stood strong, defeating them again in 2 straight sets-but not without a fight. CIS was down by 7 points, but the team rallied behind strong serves from Natalie S and great setting by Marissa T to come from behind and win.
The next game is on Monday against Cayman Prep.

CIS Mission Statement: Cayman International School endeavors to provide each of our students the opportunity to achieve his/her academic and personal best within a U.S./International educational environment that encourages and in-spires leadership, character, and community service while embracing cultural diversity.
Describe yourself. (At least a few of your best and worst personality traits)
Best personality traits: Señor Blanco calls me ‘weird’, which I’d like to interpret as ‘quirky’. I enjoy helping people with things like homework
or studying (even if it looks like I’m just yelling at them), mostly because I’m flattered that they asked me for help.
Worst personality traits: I’m crazy and rude. I also shout a lot, according to Marissa.
Overall, I’m pretty great.
What is the greatest crisis we face as a world? Why?
-Hunger. Because Josette Sheeran said so.
Which is your favorite book? Why?
-Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, because the writing style is pretty much the exact opposite of Dickens.
Describe your favorite family tradition.
-Every half day, my dad takes me for lunch. I don’t know why but I really like that.
What has been your most rewarding community service experience?
-I used to volunteer every Saturday at the book loft. Working there gives you this choice ‘½ off everything’ deal. Very rewarding.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Why?
-If this isn’t a superpower, then it should be: adding an extra 5 or so hours on the end of every day for me and me alone. You don’t know how
much I need those 5 hours.
What is your background and heritage?
-I was born in Cayman. My parents are from opposite sides of Can-
ada. It’s all pretty bland.
Which countries have you lived in?
-I’ve only officially lived in the Cayman Islands. After Hurricane
Ivan I spent a month in Canada, but I don’t think that counts.
How long have you been living in the Cayman Islands?
-Born and raised, baby!
How many years have you been at CIS?
-Since grade 4. However many years that is.
