Disassembling the door
1. Remove the 4 screws and bolts to remove the vent glass.
Remove the 3 Phillips screws that are located on the
original horizontal C-Channel. Also remove the old door
glass stops on the front and rear of the door glass.
Remove the old scrapers first to make removing the glass
easier. Take out the 1 Bolt that hold the old rear
vertical guide. Slide the original door glass all the
way up and out of the door. This should enable you to
slide the vent glass assembly away from its cavity. (Make
sure the 4 bolts are removed connecting the vent
assembly including lower door glass stop.) Pull back then
twist the vent assembly gently so you can slide it out
easier. (Watch out with the lower vent bracket so you
won’t get stuck.)
11
2. Remove lower vent
glass Bolt.
3. Remove 3 Pillar
screws from the vent glass.
12
4. Now it’s time
to remove the vent glass. With the door glass in
the down position and the old run channels out of
the door pull back the vent glass towards the
latch then slightly twist upon removal.
5. With the
vent glass frame out of the way the door glass
will slide out of the roller and out of the door
pretty easy.
13
Installing THE KIT
Cutting the brace between the inner and outer door skin:
1. Locate the
brace tab under the old vent glass, Simply
cut them with your saw and remove them.
2. You should
have a clear opening for the new door glass.
14
Installing the New X Bracket for the regulator.
3. You will
have to drill a 1” hole 5 ¾” from the center of the
Original Roller Stud.
4. Using a 1”
Hole Saw you drill this hole center of the regulator arm.
15
5. There will
be a short bracket and a long bracket. The
longer one with the roller is facing the
inside part of the door skin. The shorter
bracket with the roller facing the outside
of the door skin. The placement looks like
the one on the original regulator.
6. The Flat
side of the Aluminum gear is to the inside
of the door skin.
16
7. You will
have to use Loctite262 to tighten the center
pivot nuts. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, THE NEW
REGULATOR ARMS SHOULD HAVE FREEDOM TO SPIN
SNUG.
8. The
horizontal channel is in place along with
the shorter inner adjustment channel.
17
9. Install
Door glass Run Channel.
10. Around
the radius make sure the Run channel is
slightly stretched so there will be no kinks
along the edge.
18
11.
Because of the position of the motor for
powered units, it will be necessary to kick
out the lower rear vertical guide by 3/4 of
an Inch to make the glass clear in the front
next to the motor. Place the Spacer in
between the inside door skin and the rear
vertical guide.
12. This
is an inside view.
19
Installing the glass
13. You will tilt
the glass down in the front to slide it into
the door opening. With the Horizontal
channel already in place Bolt on the 2 10mm
20
nuts to the brackets that are glue to the
glass.
14. Install the
door glass from the top and bolt it down.
15. The 3rd
Roller that is facing the inside part of the
door skin will run on the channel provided
in the kit. You will have to find your sweet
spot by drilling a 1/4” hole along the ridge
21
of the access hole in the picture. Roughly
center of the access hole. Placement will
not always be exact due to tolerance changes
from door to door. This bracket is basically
your Level adjustment for the glass. As the
glass nears the top you can gauge if it is
Level to the Door Frame. Adjust this Bracket
and anchor it down with the second Bolt.
16. With the Glass in
the very up position you will be installing
the front vertical guide. It will already
have the rubber run channel in place. The
22
top mount should have a 1/4” 20 Nut with an
Allen head threaded stud for possible
adjustment. The lower is a telescoping
adjustment bracket.
17. This is a closer view of the front upper mounting
bracket.
18. This is the view of the front Lower mounting
bracket spaced out 3 ½” from the base of the
23
main bracket. Use LOCTITE ON THE NUT AND
BOLT
19. With the glass in the up position you slide
the. The Glass will slide between them motor
and the inside of the door skin. If the door
glass is rubbing on the motor adjust the
24
lower mounting point of the Front Vertical
guide by what is necessary to push it out
further.
20.
With the glass in the most upright position
you can see the placement of the mounting
points of the Vertical Bracket. Mark your
door Drill an elongated hole about 1/2 “slot
horizontally for adjustment. The Red Arrows
indicate hole position.
25
21. You will cut the run channel about 2 inches below the scraper line.
22. You will also have to miter cut the end leaving it long on the ends.
26
23. The Run Channel should tuck right into the door evenly on the sides. The
edge of the rubber should be between the front main bracket and door skin.
24. At this point you will be installing the outer scrapers using simple
black tek screws NO LONGER THAN ¼”. You will have to cut to
size since it is a little longer than the space between the run
channels.
27
25. You should space the screws about 4 inches. The inside scrapers
26. Here is what the run channel should look like around the
perimeter of the glass.
