The use of speakers in this image provides a great opportunity to include some form of volume control. This could be incorporated into the image, via using the right speaker to increase volume and the left to decrease volume.

This particular image conforms to a certain theme, for instance, due to all the guitars and drums, this provides music that would only be appropriate for rock bands.

Black, yellow and white connote a dangerous, or an intimidating feeling, which would be associated with perhaps gothic, or rock music.

This image leans more towards a rock theme, therefore it is very specific and doesn’t add much variety.

The main disadvantage of this image is that there isn’t a variety of instruments available, for instance, the only available instruments are guitars, drums and vocals.

Advantages & DisadvantagesAdvantages• Symmetry makes the image look clean, neat and

interesting.

• Specific colour scheme can connote the genre it represents, for instance black and yellow connote danger, which could be used to represent rock music.

• Vector graphics preserve image quality –no pixelation.

• Use of speakers provide the opportunity to include some form of volume control – i.e left speaker increases sound, right speaker decreases sound, etc…

• Interesting symmetrical design makes it easier for the eye to register.

• Simple graphic design implicate that it is easy to create and to edit.

Disadvantages:• Not much variety concerning instruments

• Could use more colours to help define different areas of the graphic.

• Appears very bland, which indicates that more variety needs to be added to it. An interface like this one could cause users to become bored very easily.

• Specific to only one genre. Incidentally, the guitars and the drums are the only instruments available, which means that the audience have very little to work with. This graphic would be suitable for rock music only.

Personal Opinion • What a like most about this graphic is that it is very simple to work with.

The symmetrical design makes it easy to work with, however, if I need to create a good interface that will keep the audience interested, then I need to improve on a design such as this one.

• I could add a lot more variety to this design. Consequently, by adding more instruments audiences have more of an opportunity to create their own music genres than simply just complying with conventions of just one specific genre.

• Also, this graphic shows that colours can help to represent themes and can connote genre. It is interesting to see how colours can be used as a major part of representation, yet on the other hand, I feel that this graphic needs more adding to it –whether this is more colour, instruments or variety, overall the graphic seems to be lacking.

Unfortunately there isn’t much variety concerning this image, more could be added to make it interesting.

This graphic is quite clean in the terms of appearance, for instance you can clearly tell that it is a vector graphic.

Vector graphics are perhaps the best format in order to preserve the quality of the graphic.

It is an interesting design, however, the colours are quite dark, yet the blue and the black background is blended nicely together.

Advantages & DisadvantagesAdvantages• Presents itself as a clean vector graphic

that preserves the image quality. Since the image is not a Bitmap graphic there is no pixelation when the image is enlarged.

• Colours blend together so it is not hard on the eyes.

• Provides a better use for vocals.

• The record included in the image could provide the opportunity to import or export sounds.

• Less specific to one theme, meaning there is more variety available.

Disadvantages• The colours might prove too dark in some

areas of the image.

• More instruments need to be included in order to provide the user with a variety. More variety means that it is more interesting.

• The graphic of the eyes covers up the bottom half of the main graphic, covers up some of the instruments and is not relevant to the theme of music.

Personal Opinion • I prefer this graphic better than the first mainly because it is

more interesting –the graphic of the eyes, for example, may not be relevant to the image, however it adds a unique feel.

• The colours are quite dark, however they are blended together nicely, giving the image a cleaner look.

• I feel that this image is more vocal based, and as for the variety of instruments, there is little to none at all. In order to make this more interesting for the users a lot of instruments need to be available.

Sounds issue from the musical instruments dotted around the collage. Moreover the sounds need to be mapped to the appropriate images.

Perhaps multiple sounds can be mapped onto the same image. For instance, when the guitar is clicked on once, it plays one guitar string, whilst when it is clicked on a second time it could play a different guitar string than the previous one.

Sound play on mouse click rather than when the mouse hovers over the interface. When mouse hovers over the interface, certain parts should flash to indicate that the interface is interactive

Since there is a collection of instruments scattered about the image, this indicates variety as it gives users a better option to create their own music, using individual sound clips. This includes the possibility of creating music of any music genre.

Sound will be mapped to the different images constructing the picture.

Advantages & DisadvantagesAdvantages:• A lot of instruments provide a

great variety in this image.

• The collage blends well, providing a good mixture.

• Different genres of music can be made out of this variety.

• Sounds can easily be mapped to images.

• Provides an easily interface to work with.

• Some of the images aren’t very clear, for instance the trumpet player in the background looks very faded.

• Could be displayed in a better formation, the instruments seem merely dotted about the place.

• A colour scheme could be added, the plain colours cause the image to appear very bland.

• Bitmap image means there is a chance of pixelation when the image is enlarged.

Personal Opinion • I think prefer this image out of the three that I have studied, simply

because this images provides more of a variety for the users so that they won’t become easily bored. Incidentally, I need to create an interface like this merely because it will keep the users on the website longer than it would if I didn’t include an interface with many instruments.

• However in order to improve this graphic, I feel that there needs to be more in terms of colours, for instance the white background makes the image look very bland. For the image to be properly presented their needs to be a consistent colour scheme.

• Admittedly the whole collage could be presented in a better way, for example the instruments could be placed in parallel to each other, similar to the symmetry in the first image.

What Type Of Sound Will Be Used? • Using different instruments in a combination usually depict

the specific genre being addressed, however I want to approach this project with a bit more variety.

• I want to include a lot of instruments in order to create a unique and interesting interface that will keep the audience entertained no matter how many times they visit the website.

• The main instruments that I will be using is guitar, keyboard, piano and drums. I will also include other instruments so that the audience can use different types of sounds.
