Dear Friends,

It’s now almost 50 days since Easter and we will soon celebrate Pentecost. This Christian Holiday has its roots in a Jewish Festival when people living in regions around Jerusalem gathered in that ancient city 50 days after Passover to commemorate the giving of the Law by God through Moses. It was during the Pentecost festival, in the time after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus,

that God poured out the Holy Spirit on the followers of Jesus.

We will be celebrating Pentecost this next Sunday, May 15th. It is our tradition for people to wear something red to church on Pentecost, symbolizing the flame of the Holy Spirit. On this day, we will partake in the Lord’s Supper in w orship, and then continue our time of celebration with a Pancake Feast provided by our Boy Scout troop.

It was this time, last year, that Cindy and I arrived in Redlands and I become your pastor. It is our honor and joy to serve you. On May 22nd we will have members from our National Association of Christian Congregational Churches w ith us to celebrate our first anniversary and pray for God’s blessings on our ministry as pastor and people. I hope you will be here to welcome members from our extended fellowship as they confirm my installation as your pastor.

See you in church,

Yours in Christ,

Steve Rev. Dr. Steven Jay Davis
