OMNITRACKER GIS Gateway

In the current day-to-day business, incoming orders and ac-tivities have to be allocated and disposed fast and efficiently. With the OMNITRACKER GIS Gateway, an extensive Route planner is available. Therefore, field staff can be disposed ideally according to geographic criteria as well. The connec-tion of OMNITRACKER with a so-called Geographic Informa-tion System (GIS) makes that possible. This system provides OMNITRACKER with all required data in order to display the route and its optimization.

The area of use are almost unlimited. With the integration in OMNITRACKER IT Service Management Center or Project Management Center, e.g. routes can be planned and opti-mized. Information about the length of a journey can be saved in OMNITRACKER and further executed.

Another example is the integration with address information out of the master data, which enables the caller to identify the nearby traders, service stations etc. Subsequently, a map section can be sent to the customer via E-Mail.

Integration in OMNITRACKER

OMNITRACKER GIS Gateway can be integrated in OMNI-TRACKER quickly and without much effort. All additional functions, like Route planner, are immediately available for the user — independent from the respective OMNITRACKER Template.

For example, an integration in OMNITRACKER IT Service Management Center enables linking activities or incidents as route. The dispatcher in charge can plan the route directly in the dispatch view via Drag & Drop. Furthermore, with the integration of the OMNITRACKER Dis-patch Center, the supervision of field staff is possible. Inter-faces to other components like OMNITRACKER Mobile Gateway are also available.

The Dispatch View

The dispatch view is an extension of the time line view, in which chronological as well as geographical information about objects and resources is displayed at the same time. This can be reached through the combination of the time line with a map, in which also the geographical position of objects or resources is displayed. In this way, it is possible to dis-pose the orders of e.g. a team of technicians for the next day, based on

the chronological information about the orders (start time and length) combined with the working hours of the tech-nician as well as

the geographical position of the technicians´ sites of op-eration and their home.

The dispatch view includes:

Time line view

Map view

List view

map view, underneath: list view

With the combination of search and filter forms, users can systematically search for orders or e.g. only have them dis-played open orders.

The route planning can be executed either in the time line or directly in the map via „Drag & Drop“. Orders are automati-cally adjusted to the predecessor or successor while the travel times are considered.

Route planning in the time line view

Route planning in the map view

The „Drag & Drop“ function can also be used between components. For example, an order can be moved from the list view into the time line via „Drag & Drop“.

Additionally, the dispatch view of the OM-NITRACKER GIS Gateway provides a so-called „planning mode“. The planning of ac-tivities and orders is executed in the „planning mode“ until the required result is achieved. Meanwhile, the server is not loaded. Only when switching to the „immediate mode“, the data will be trans-ferred into the data base of OMNI-TRACKER.

Basic functionality of the OMNITRACKER GIS Gateway

The basic concept of the dispatch view are routes. A route is a series of objects (orders) which are connected with each other through the predecessor/successor relation. In the time line, the objects of a route are linked with a black line. In the map, the same route is displayed via con-nection lines between objects, whereas the arrows over the lines indicate the „driving

direction“. Compared to the time line, the route in the map contains an additional journey point, the home of the resource (e.g. the technician). This is indicated with a red flag and forms the start and end point of the route. The travel times to an order and back home are calculated automatically.

OMNITRACKER GIS Gateway also consid-ers time limits of a resource. In OMNI-TRACKER, resource-specified working times calendars can be created, whereby the individual availability of a resource can be traced and indicated in the time line view.

Warning: The order violates the available time window

Also required skills to execute an order can be indicated, which can be reached through the allocation of specific skills to a resource or employee. If special skills are needed for the execu-tion of an order, valid resources are high-lighted optically. If the allocation is invalid, the user receives a warning that the re-source does not meet the requirements needed for the execution of the order.
