FROM OUR PASTOR Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him. The Book of Revelation reminds us that Jesus Christ will come again, and only with that coming will all things be fulfilled. As we struggle for justice and charity, we will be disappointed again and again, because of the power of sin and selfishness in the world. But we should never stop trying to live our Christian faith and striving to build a better world, for Christ will take our fee- ble efforts and establish the King- dom of God. Next Sunday, we begin the holy season of Advent, a time of prepa- ration for celebrating Christmas. I know there will be many parties and gather- ings, as our society gets it backwards: Christmas begins on December 25 and lasts 12 days, until January 6! But in the midst of all the hubbub, please take time to remember what we celebrate: the coming of Jesus among us in the Incarnation. Please join us for the Advent pen- ance service on Wednesday, De- cember 5, at 7:00 PM. There are also Advent penance services at the other parishes in our area if you are not able to join us here. December – Celebrating the Motherhood of Mary
We will pray a novena to the Immaculate Conception Novem-ber 30 to December 8. The novena prayer will be recited at the 8:00 AM weekday Mass immediately following Holy Com-munion (and at all the Masses on Sunday at the same time.) An altar to our Lady of Lourdes (who revealed herself as the Im-maculate Conception) will be placed near the pulpit with a pe-tition book and small votive candles for lighting. Should you not be able to attend, copies of the novena prayer will be at the back of the church for your private devotion.

Todo lo que pasa en este tiempo, incluyendo las fiestas bonitas de Guadalupe y las Posadas, debe ayudarnos a enfocar en la realidad de la Encarnación, el Amor de Dios hecho carne. Favor de venir al servicio de reconciliación miércoles, 5 de diciembre a las 7:00 PM. Si no se puede venir ese día, hay servicios en los demás parroquias y claro se puede confesar los sábados o hacer una cita para confesar.

Diciembre- Celebrando la Maternidad de María Rezaremos una novena a la Inmaculada Concepción del 30 de No-viembre al 8 de Diciembre. La oración de la novena será recitada en la misa de 8:00 AM de la semana después de la Santa Comu-nión (y en todas las misas del domingo al mismo tiempo). Se colo-cará un altar a Nuestra Señora de Lourdes (que se reveló como la Inmaculada Concepción) Cerca del ambo de monitor con un libro de peticiones y pequeñas velas. Si usted no puede asistir, copias de la oración de la novena estarán en la parte posterior de la iglesia para su devo-ción privada.

CHRIST IS KING
On the final Sunday of the liturgical year we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. It’s easy to understand today’s scriptures as events that happened long ago and far away, or predictions that will come true somewhere, some day. But they invite us to claim Christ as our King here and now. Jesus’ words to Pilate in the Gospel remind us that his king-dom transcends time and place. And the prophecies from Daniel and Revelation give us reason to be faithful to Christ our King right here and right now.
By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only King over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. No matter what nation we belong to or what language we speak, he “has made us into a king-dom” (Revelation 1:6)—one people united in love and peace for all eternity.
