Aug. 12-1319th Sunday in Ordinary TimeWhen Peter gets out of the fishing boat to meet Jesus, he is certainly leaving his comfort zone! Being a disciple calls us to places that will stretch us. Don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone by joining a jail or prison ministry team; writing or talking with a legislator; studying Catholic teachings that make you uncomfort-able; allowing a poor person to befriend you; becoming a foster family. Jesus sends us to proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth; sometimes that might not even mean leaving our town or city. How is Jesus calling you to leave your comfort zone?

Ser un discípulo nos lleva hacia situaciones que demandan mucho de nosotros. No tenga miedo de dejar sus zonas de comodidad uniéndose a un equipo de ministerio para encarcelados; escribiéndole o hablando con un legislador; estudiando enseñanzas Católicas que lo incomodan; permitiendo que una persona pobre se convierta en su amigo(a); convertirse en un hogar de cuidado temporal para otros –Foster Family en inglés-. Jesús nos envió a proclamar el Evangelio a los confines de la Tierra; a veces eso no significa ni siquiera salir de nuestra ciudad o población ¿Cómo está Jesús pidiéndole que deje su zona de comodidad?

Religious Education for Students K-12th Grades will begin: Sunday, Sept. 24th; Monday, Sept. 25th; and Wednesday, Sept. 27th.

• • • • • • • • • • • •Reconciliation & First Communion Preparation - Traditionally chil-dren celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession) and First Communion in the second grade. For their preparation, children attend Religious Education for two years (1st grade & 2nd grade). The first year is traditionally 1st grade and the second, 2nd grade, is continued preparation for the sacraments and the celebration. Older children who have not celebrated the sacraments and need to prepare participate in the RCIA for Children Program. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacraments.
Reconciliación y Preparación de Primera Comunión - los niños celebran tradicionalmente el Sacramento de la Reconciliación (Prim-era Confesión) y la Primera Comunión en el segundo grado. Students who attend their 8th and 9th grade years will enter into the Confirmation Preparation Program in their 10th grade year. If a student did not attend 8th grade, the RE Staff will work with parents to place the child in appropriate classes. These guidelines are in accordance with the Diocese of Austin. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation.

Dear parishioners,
Tuesday, August 15 is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This celebration is a holy day of obligation and the times for Holy Mass are printed in the bulletin.
After the Ascension of Our Lord, Mary remained on earth in order to give birth to the Church. And, just as she nourished the infant Jesus, even so she nourished the infant Church. During that time, Mary communicated the facts of the Incarnation, infancy and childhood of Jesus only she had witnessed and which came to be recorded in the Gospels. From her words, the apostles received counsel sweeter than honey, calming their souls, ordering their life and filling their noble minds with the brightness of heaven.
In those early days of the Church, the words of the Song of Songs (8:13) came to be fulfilled: “THOu THAT DWELLEST IN THE GARDENS, THE FRIENDS HARKEN: MAKE ME HEAR THY VOICE.”
Let us enter into the heart of the beginning of the Church by gathering around the Blessed Virgin Mary and listen to her words so that we may be directed to her son, Christ the Lord.

Queridos Feligreses,
El martes, 15 de agosto, es la Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María. Esta celebración es un día santo de obligación y el horario de la Santa Misa se ha imprimido en el boletín.
Después de la Ascensión del Señor, María permaneció en la tierra con el fin de dar vida a la Iglesia. Y, así como alimentó al niño Jesús, así también ella alimento la infancia de la Iglesia. Durante ese tiempo, María comunicó los hechos de la Encarnación, la infancia y la niñez de Jesús, que sólo ella había presenciado y que llegaron a ser registrados en los Evangelios. De sus palabras, los apóstoles recibieron los consejos más dulces que la miel, calmando a sus almas, ordenando sus vidas y llenando sus mentes nobles con el resplandor del cielo.
En los primeros días de la iglesia, las palabras del Cantar de los Cantares (8:13) vinieron a cumplirse: “¡Oh tú que habitas en los huertos!, tus compañeros prestan oído a tu voz, haz que yo también la pueda oír.”
Entremos en el corazón de los principios de la Iglesia reuniéndonos alrededor de la Santísima Virgen Maria y escuchemos sus palabras para que podamos ser dirigidos a su hijo, Cristo nuestro Señor.

This year’s RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Program begins on Thursday, September 7. There’s no cost, no obligation, no commitment necessary. In a series of friendly, informative and spiritually exciting classes we will explore the major things Catholics believe and why. We will learn more about the Mass and what is happening and why. Learn about prayer, scripture, sacraments and Church history, and much more.
