OILS AND LUBRICANTS FOR INDUSTRY

Page 2: OILS AND LUBRICANTS - Paramo

Joint-stock company PARAMO, with its more than hundred and thirty year tradition of producing powerful lubrication oils, is inseparably linked to the history of the production of the MOGUL oils. In the Czech Republic, the MOGUL brand has become a synonym to the word oil during the many years customers have been able to buy the MOGUL products. The current MOGUL oils

are not only comparable to the best oils of other world manufacturers, but their parameters often surpass them.

Brand value

Tradition, innovation, quality, favourable price and availability - those are the key success factors of the MOGUL brand. Based on independent researches, MOGUL is the most famous and used lubrication brand on the Czech market. PARAMO is maintaining an approximate 25% of the market share in the area of final lubricants, including its

main retail brand MOGUL. The overall company export amounts to more than 50%. PARAMO focuses on cooperation with successful motor

sport teams. Quality of this line was confirmed by, for example, the Czech national team at the International Six Days Enduro in Germany in 2012. PARAMO was awarded the prestigious PETROLawards prize in the Product category for its MOGUL MOTO line.

In 2014 and in the following years, PARAMO was awarded the CZECHSUPERBRANDS prize for its MOGUL brand. The prize is awarded by the Brand Counsil

based on strict and exactly defined criteria. All oils of the MOGUL brand comply with the strict criteria of

the applicable international standards, including car manufacturer standards (such as the VW, Ford, MB and other groups). PARAMO provides free business and

technical presale and post-sale service for all its products. The service is focused on the selection of proper lubricants and their correct application. PARAMO also provides

consultations to its customers, advising them how to properly use oils and how to monitor the given quality parameters during operation. MOGUL oils are designated for customers who take care of

their own cars and machines, but also for large transportation companies, car repair shops, industry and agriculture.

Socially responsible conduct

Developing and producing products with minimal risks of negative impacts on the environment is the priority of PARAMO. That is why the company has, since 1993, spent

more than 60 million crowns on liquidating old environmental burdens caused by bombing during World War II and by environmentally harmful behaviour of the state-owned company prior to privatization. PARAMO claims its responsibility for observing the

Responsible Care in Chemistry program. PARAMO is the fifth company in the Czech Republic that received the Sustainable Development Prize for fulfilling the principles defined at the UN Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The company is also a holder of certificates that confirm a proper application and utilization of the given quality management systems, environmental management and occupational health and safety.

Brand and numbers

The company currently produces more than 150 types of oil

In 1931, MOGUL made an appearance in the legendary Powder and Petrol movie by the famous couple

Voskovec and Werich

Jarek Nohavica as well as Ivan Mládek used the word MOGUL in their songs

The annual production of the one-litre oil packages placed side by side could border the entire road from Pardubice to Prague

INDUSTRIAL OILS

Industrial lubricants are classified based on the given viscosity classes and performance standards. ISO VG viscosity classes specify the median viscosity value in mm2/s at 40 °C. In most cases, this viscosity is included in the oil marking, usually as a number at the end of the oil trading name. A letter code is usually before this number. It characterizes the oil performance. The first letter usually marks the type of oil based on its main usage area pursuant to standard ISO 6743 or DIN 51502. The remaining letters usually determine what refining additives the oil must have. Alternatively, they can specify its use in more detail.

HEAT-CONDUCTING OILS

24

OILS FOR THERMAL PROCESSING OF METALS AND HEAT-CONDUCTING MEDIA

Thermal processing of metals is a process, during which the given item is subjected to one or multiple thermal cycles for the purpose of achieving the required material characteristics. It consists of heating to a certain temperature by a given speed, from a holding period, i.e. period when it is kept at the given temperature, and from cooling by a specified speed, usually to the regular temperature. An integral part of the process is formed by a cooling environment, which is most important in the hardening period. The hardening intensity, i.e. heat discharge speed, is significantly different. Hardening environment needs to be assessed based on the speed the heat is being discharged within the range of 650 °C and 550 °C, when a high cooling speeds are required, and within the range of 350 °C and 250 °C, when the cooling speed should be low. The usual cooling environments include water, acid solutions, soap water, machine oils, hardening oils and also air.

MOGUL TERM 32 32 6.1 228 11.2 ISO 6743/12 QC

Highly powerful heat-conducting oils for heat-conducting systems with forced circulation. They are particularly suitable for indirect heating of reactors, distillation devices, dryers, production device (such as bituminous mixtures facilities), etc. They are especially designated for enclosed heat-conducting systems up to 300 °C. The maximal temperature of the oil film should not exceed 320 °C. *

MOGUL CLEANER 180/40 °C 22.6 210 - ISO 6743/12

It helps to release and remove carbon sediments, oxidation products and resins from heating units, pipelines and technological containers during long-term or demanding operations, thus improving effectiveness of the given heat-conducting system. It is also used preventively during regular operation. *

HEAT-CONDUCTING OIL EXCHANGE PROCEDURE Heat-conducting oils in individual systems are exposed to high thermal and oxidation loads. Oxidation products, sludges, carbon, resins, etc. are formed in the oil. These substances clog the entire system and especially heating devices, thus preventing perfect heat transmission. We recommend chemical cleaning of the system prior to every exchange of a heat-conducting oil. Add 1.5-4% (depending on the volume of the sediments in the system) of the MOGUL CLEANER system cleaner prior to

exchanging the heat-conducting oil. Let this cleaner circulate in the system under normal operation for at least 14-30 days. The entire system is subsequently drained and mechanical dirt particles are removed from the tank, heating system and filters. In some cases (excessively clogged system), rinsing of the entire heat-conducting system is recommended. MOGUL CLEANER

can be also used preventively during the operation of heat-conducting systems by adding 1 - 3% of the product.

CONSERVATION AGENTS

27

CONSERVATION AGENTS

In the case of mechanical production and product transport and storage, it is very important to prevent spontaneous and gradual disintegration of metal and nonmetal objects by external factors (corrosion). Targeted conservation is conducted for this purpose. The process consists of applying a protective layer with a conservation effect on the given material surface. PARAMO, a.s., offers conservation agents for short-term interoperation protection as well as medium- and long-term conservation. The conservation agents do not contain silicone. The expected protection against corrosion depends on the packaging and storage manner and on climatic conditions.

MOGUL KONKOR 305 2.0 55 90 0.2 ISO 6743/8 RFF

KONKOR 305 is an evaporable conservation product. Isoparaffin is the diluting component. Its conservation effect is based on a mixture of corrosion inhibitors, components that displace water and a barrier formed by a high-viscosity oil. It is designated for corrosion protection of a wide range of machinery products. It can be used for interoperative conservation of workpieces from ferrous and nonferrous and precious metals, as well as for protecting final products prior to being packed in their packages. The product is known for an excellent ratio of the achievable protection time and a very low consumption rate. The product can be applied by painting, soaking or spraying. Since the film is very thin, traditional procedures can be used for de-conservation, for example, rinsing by a warm solution of detergents in water (alkali washing) or organic solvents.

MOGUL KONKOR 315 2.2 60 84 0.3 ISO 6743/8 RFF

KONKOR 315 is a protective conservation and lubrication product with an evaporable component (isoparaffin). Its conservation effect is based on a selected mixture of corrosion inhibitors, components that displace water and a barrier formed by a high-viscosity oil. It is designated for medium-term corrosion protection of a wide range of machinery products. It complies with the requirements for the conservation of long and short guns (blackened and varnished). KONKOR 315 has been primarily proposed as a final conservation agent for conserving guns for shipping. However, apart from that, it is also usable for cleaning and lubricating bicycle chains and for additional lubricating of the Al shaping processes.

MOGUL KONKOR 350 28.2 40 45 3.1 ISO 6743/8 RFF

KONKOR 350 is a evaporable conservation agent based on a suitable corrosion inhibitor, oxidised esters, paraffins and mineral spirits. It is designated for conserving machines, individual machine parts, tools and individual metal materials when stored outside, and for conserving parts stored in seaside areas and transported on seas. Once the solvent evaporates, a flexible layer remains on the conserved material. We recommend to stir the product prior to its use when it has been in storage for more than 6 months. De-conservation can be executed by rinsing using cold detergents, mineral spirits, kerosine (diesel oil), chlorinated hydrocarbons or in a water steam flow.

MOGUL KONKOR 612 12.5 65 45 1.2 ISO 6743/8 REE

KONKOR 612 and KONKOR 622 are high-quality conservation mineral oils that contain suitable, complex corrosion inhibitors, effectiveness of which is supported by oxidised petroleum jelly and an evaporable component. Once KONKOR 612, 622 evaporates, a continuous oil-Vaseline protective film remains on the surface of the conserved part. This film withstands the impact of corrosion environments. KONKOR 612, 622 does not lose its protective anticorrosion characteristics even when the temperature changes at a high relative humidity.

MOGUL KONKOR 622 23.5 56 35 2.8 ISO 6743/8 REE

Conservation oils of the KONKOR 612 and KONKOR 622 lines are designated for medium- to long-term anticorrosion protection of products made of ferrous and nonferrous metals (especially bearings, tools, measuring devices, shafts, cogged wheels, joint materials, sheet metals, etc.). The conservation film is applied by soaking, spraying or painting. It is recommended to let the excess oil drip off from the surface after the application. The protective film easily dissolves in lubrication oils and does not have to be removed when additional conserved parts are applied. If necessary, the protective film can be removed using standard alkali degreasers and organic solvents.

PLASTIC LUBRICANTS

30

PLASTIC LUBRICANTS

Plastic lubricants are divided into consistency levels (classes), which are usually stated directly, as a part of the marking of every PL. The basis for determining consistency of any lubricant is its penetration (i.e. hardness degree), which can be measured accurately. It usually applies that soft plastic lubricants of classes 000, 00, 0 and 1 are most often used for lubricating gears or central lubrication systems with long transport routes (grease lines), while lubricants with a consistency of 2, 3 and 4 are used for lubricating rolling and sliding bearings. Products with a higher consistency are suitable as additional sealing (and possibly lubricating) agents for labyrinth and other sealings, taps, valves, etc.
