3

THAT'S THE WAY TO START• The Buckeyes opened the year with a re-

sounding 85-64 victory over No. 10 Stanford

on Nov. 10.

• The 21-point victory was the second largest

win over a top-10 ranked team for the Buck-

eyes only behind an 88-58 win over No. 1 Tex-

as on Jan. 2, 1988.

26 REBOUNDS??? • Stephanie Mavunga set the OSU single-game

record by grabbing 26 rebounds in the sea-

son-opening win over No. 10 Stanford on Nov.

10.

• She broke Mary Sivak's previous mark of 25

set way back on March 3, 1979.

• Mavunga's previous single-game high was 17.

• She also added 17 points in the game marking

her 39th career double-double.

DOMINATING THE GLASS • The Buckeyes dominated one of the taller ros-

ters in the country in Stanford (average height

of over 6'0") in their 85-64 victory on Nov. 10.

• OSU won the battle on the boards 64-41 and

had 28 off ensive rebounds compared to just

nine for the Cardinal.

• The 28 off ensive boards led to 32 points

while Stanford mustered just two from its nine

o-boards.

• Stephanie Mavunga grabbed a school-record

26 rebounds and had 14 off ensive rebounds

herself.

MITCHELL PASSES KATIE SMITH • Anytime you move past a legend like Katie

Smith on a career chart, you know you've ac-

complished something.

• Kelsey Mitchell scored 30 points in the sea-

son-opening win over No. 10 Stanford and

passed Smith on the OSU scoring charts.

• Mitchell moved into second place, passing

Smith's career mark of 2,578 career points.

BUCKEYES PICKED 1ST IN BIG TEN• Ohio State was projected to win the Big Ten

Conference this season by both the coaches

• This is the fi rst time since prior to the 2010-11

season the Ohio State was projected to win

it all.

• The Buckeyes had a 15-1 mark in conference

play last season and claimed its Big Ten best

15th conference title.

MOST BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS• Ohio State has won 15th Big Ten championship

which is tops in the conference.

• No other team in the conference has won

more than nine championships.

Big Ten is Maryland at 947.

• Overall, Ohio State is 999-427 for a .700 win-

right out of the gate.

• Ohio State opened with an 85-64 victory over

No. 10/9 Stanford on Nov. 10 and will play No.
