T he Ohio-Michigan Equipment Dealers Association (OMEDA) held its Ohio Power Show Jan. 28 to 30 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. The event featured new construction and outdoor power equipment from more than 600 companies. The exhibitors had their equipment, products and service on display in four buildings covering more than 300,000 sq. ft. at the Ohio Expo Center, including the Voinovich Center, Celeste Center, Coliseum and Bricker Building. Along with all of the products and serv- ices at the show, educational seminars and demonstrations also were offered through- out the three-day event. Courses covered everything from home design to small engine care and maintenance to cooking demonstrations. A daily drawing also was held, awarding $1,000 dollars to a lucky attendee each day. see OMEDA page 6

Thompson Auctioneers conducted an auction Jan. 25for Mainline Road & Bridge Construction at its facil-ity in Beavercreek, Ohio. Up for bid were excavators,

backhoes and an assortment of other equipment used by theoperation. Highlights of the sale included Cat 420D backhoe,4 x 4, with extend-a-boom that went for $23,500 and a Cat426B backhoe sold for $13,500.

The auction drew bidders predominantly from Ohio,Indiana, and Michigan. The auction drew a good size crowdof enthusiastic bidders. Based in Fairborn, Ohio, ThompsonAuctioneers was started by Company President, SteveThompson, in 1982 out of his garage.

Operations for a pair of bridge replacement projects are setto begin next week on state Route 348 in Adams County,according to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9

Deputy Director Vaughn E. Wilson. The route will be closedfor up to six months.“With spring just around the corner, our 2011 construction

season will be getting under way soon and this is one of sev-eral projects that will take place to improve and enhanceAdams County’s infrastructure,” said Wilson.The department will close d Ohio-348 on Feb. 28, at the

route’s 4.81-mi. marker to begin the first bridge replacementproject. The project site is situated west of County Road 6(Cedar Mills Road), near Cedar Hill Drive, and work isanticipated to be completed within 90 days.Once this project is completed, S.R. 348 will remain

closed, and the contractors will move operations one-tenthmile east to replace a second structure that is located at the4.94-mi. marker. Replacement of this bridge, which is locat-ed immediately east of the route’s junction with Cedar MillsRoad, is also scheduled to take 90 days to complete.During the route’s closure for both projects, motorists will

be detoured by way of S.R. 125 and County Road 18 (BlueCreek Road).DGM Incorporated, of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a con-

tract in the amount of approximately $1.29 million to com-plete all work, and the scheduled completion date is Sept. 30,2011.
