NATIONAL RESEARCH OGAREV MORDOVIA STATE UNIVERSITY
♦ Founded in 1931 (in 2011 celebrated the 80-year anniversary);♦ Incorporates 11 faculties, 7 institutes, 135 academic chairs, 2 affiliated campuses;♦ Teaching staff is 1593 people (19 academicians and correspondent members, 226 doctors and 1092 research assistant professors);♦ The University offers 74 Bachelor Degree programmes, 21 Master Degree and 79 5-year Diploma programmes of study. The total number of students is over 22 000;♦ Department of Graduate and Postgraduate Studies offers 103 fields of specialization and 18 – postgraduate areas of research (doctoral degree studies). University in cooperative with Autonomous Institution “Technopark-Mordovia”, JSC “Elektrovypryamitel”, The Federal State Unitary Enterprise “All-Russian Institute of Aviation Materials”, Fiber Optics Research Center of Russian Academy of Sciences created 2 small enterprises in order to implement innovative projects, as parties on the establishment and functioning of The Innovation Center “Skolkovo”:
1. LTD “Polikomponent”with the project “Development and implementation of the pilot manufacturing technology of metal matrix materials and their products for power electronics and converters”
2. LTD “Fiber-Optic”with the project “Establishment of an engineering center of fiber optics with small-scale production of optical fibers for laser and sensor technology”

The University is a basic scientific platform for the implementation of key projects within the territorial cluster: “Energy efficient lighting and intelligent lighting control system”, the production of optical fibers for laser and sensor technology.

These projects are being run together with Fiber Optics Research Centre RAS, Federal State Unitary Enterprise “VIAM”, Autonomous Institution “Technopark-Mordovia” and OJSC “Electrovypryamitel”.

The university graduates are global renown sportsmen in race walking (Elena Lashmanova, Sergey Kirdyapkin, Valery Borchin, Olga Kaniskina) and being Olympic champions they study and prepare for new records. Student's volleyball team twice became the winner of the European Championship.

Campus includes 28 academic buildings, laboratories, a major library, an extensive IT network, an Arts and Culture Palace, the publishing house, the chain of museums, the Botanic garden, student hostels, canteens, a health centre.The University’s Academic library named after the famous literary scholar and philosopher M.M. Bakhtin, is one of the largest book storage (2,5 mln of items) and information centres in Russia.

Much attention is given to sport and physical training of students. There are 4 sports halls, 2 sports complexes, 3 ski resorts and a university swimming pool. Our university has become the winner of the All-Russia Competition «High School of a Healthy Lifestyle» three times.

There are more than 350 foreign students at the N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University from more than 20 countries. The major number of students are from Tukmenistan, Sudan, Syria.Foreign students have a guaranteed accommodation while studying. Two more de luxe halls of residence have been recently opened to accommodate more than 1000 students.
