PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS IN ARMENIA

Armenia is one of the most ancient countries of the world, which has rich culture and history. It is historical motherland of Armenians. Armenia lies in the northeastern part of the Armenian plateau between Caucasus and Asia Minor. The history of Armenian ancestors goes back to the history of primitive man (about 1,5 - 1 million years ago). The sports programs organized during the pagan celebrations had much in common with programs of ancient Greek Olympic Games. Thanks to it Armenian athletes had an opportunity to participate in Olympic Games. It is known that Armenian king Trdat III Arshakuni became the winner of 265th Olympic Games in 281. During his reign in 301 Christianity was adopted as state religion in Armenia. Trdat III Arshakuni Armenian king Varazdat Arshakuni became the champion in boxing at 291st Olympic Games held in 385.

Armenian sportsmen have been taking part in the Olympic Games since 1952. Up to now, Armenia has had 13 champions.

SO THE BEAR ALSO MET THE COLLECTIVE OF THESE SPORTSMEN,WHO WIIL INTRODUCE ARMENIA IN

LONDON in2012 OLYMPIC GAMES.

Summer Olympiada will be propagated in 2012 since June 27 until August 12 ,in the capital of Great Britain. Armenia will be introduced by Norayr Bakhtamyan(shooting), Andranik Hakobyan (boxing), Arsen Juflakyan (Greco-Roman wrestle), Mihran Jaburyan (free wrestle), Artur Davtyan (sports gymnastics).These sportsmen have had a number of successes during world championships and international competition and so they won the right to participate in the Olympic Games. There will be eleven comprised sportsmen, who haven't hurt, in excellent sportive condition in the Armenian delegation.
