KOREAN WAR VETERANS CLUBBy Ken Thamert, Interim Adjutant54 members of the Korean War Veterans Club had

breakfast together this past Monday and it’s great to seeeveryone enjoying the fellowship with one another. Ournext get together was on Wednesday, June 17th, 2015when we met at the American Legion at 11 AM for themonthly lunch they offer us.

One month ago many of our members attended thefuneral for Lyle Lubahn and on June 15th, 2015 hisdaughter came to our Monday breakfast and presented uswith a wonderful donation made in Lyle’s memory. It wasLyle’s duty to count all of the members taking part in eachactivity and at each meeting, so as I counted the membersthis past breakfast - Lyle’s memory was clearly felt. Wethank his family for the gift and memories of Lyle.

The Pine Island parade was held on Sunday, June 7th,2015 and many of us rode on the trailer or in the cars.Approx. 17 members took part and then met at theShelstad’s home afterwards for some snacks. Shellymakes a trip to the Hastings Veterans Home almost everymonth and informed me that George Kramer had donatedclothing including shoes, caps, and accessories to theVeterans Home this month. Thank you to both George andShelly for doing this for our Veterans. If any of you readingthis have excess clothing, please think of the Vets in theHastings home who can use them.

It was great to have Chris Fogarty, the principal atCentury High School, come to our breakfast this pastMonday. He thanked our KWVC members who go to hisschool by 7 AM to greet students one day each month. Thestudents have really enjoyed the smiles and greetings fromour members and our Vets enjoy interacting with thestudents so definitely a win-win for all.
