‘Recycling led waste management solutions to customers throughout the South West.’

Recycling makes a difference – by utilising a resource again & again. Segregated recycling is economically sustainable in the world wide markets.

Why Recycle ?

Landfill Tax Escalator - Landfill Tax (April 1) rose to £56 per tonne. The escalator sees the tax for landfill disposal rise by £8 per tonnes each year up to 2014, with Chancellor George Osborne having put a floor under the 2014 rate of £80 per tonnes up to the year 2020.

Carbon benefits – Recycling 1 tonne of paper, saves 1.32 tonnes of carbon (source Cpi)

Legal Compliance assured

Waste Regulations 2011 - The revised Waste Framework Directive places

greater emphasis on the waste hierarchy to ensure that waste is dealt with in

the priority order of: prevention, preparing for re-use, recycling, other recovery

(for example, energy recovery), disposal. The waste hierarchy is good practice

which businesses should adopt as a matter of course. The waste hierarchy was

implemented through Regulation12 amending the Duty of Care requirements from 28th September 2011.

Landfill Regulations 2002 - Pre-Treatment of waste came into force 30-10-07.Meaning all waste producers must pre-treat their waste in conjunction with their responsibility under the Duty of Care regulations. The easiest solution for most

companies is to recycle.

Cardboard is then recycled into new packaging and various other products.

Polythene is then recycled into new packaging and various other products.

The recyclable material is taken back to one of our depots within the

Southwest. Bagged polythene is segregated and baled separately.

Then full 25 loads are sent to UK mills ready for recycling

Perrys Recycling then arrange

collection, either weekly, fortnightly,

monthly or at customers request

Cardboard is stored in the 1100 litre bin &

polythene / shrink-wrap is bagged using

our knapsack bagging system

Cardboard & Polythene Recycling

LCA (life cycle assessment) - Large volumes

Cardboard recycled into new packaging and various other products.

Polythene is recycled into new packaging and various other products.

Some grades are exported to established and EA approved mills in other countries. Utilizing existing transport logistics and reducing the

carbon footprint.

The recyclable material is then taken

back to one of our depots throughout the Southwest for baling , or direct to UK Mills

Somerset residents can now raise money for local charities and voluntary groups by recycling their newspapers and magazines in a new paper bank scheme set up jointly by Perrys Recycling and Somerset Community Foundation.

Perrys Recycling supports Somerset charities with paper bank scheme

Perrys Recycling is providing and maintaining the paper banks to recycle newspapers, magazines, junk mail and telephone books. The paper is processed at its depots and then sold to Aylesford Newsprint in Kent to be made into new newsprint, with £10 per tonne going to Somerset Community Foundation.

Somerset Community Foundation is a local independent charity that raises funds and awards grants to a wide range of community projects and voluntary groups which benefit local people. Supporting children, youth groups, and older people, those with special needs or disabilities, sports groups, and art and drama projects, it aims to build stronger communities for the benefit of everyone throughout Somerset www.somersetcf.org.uk

Completing the Cycle

Office waste paper, is processed at one of our depots into 25 tonne loads. These are recycled into the Evolve & YoYo range of printing papers.

Cardboard , is processed at one of our depots into 25 tonne loads. These are then transported to mills such as St. Regis for recycling into more cardboard packaging.

Newspapers & Magazines , is processed at one of our depots into 25 tonne loads. These are then transported to mills such as Aylesford Newsprint for recycling into more newsprint.

Establishing a recycling system at work is the first step. Although once established, maintaining this level of staff participation can only be helped with recycling posters.

These posters can be purchased from Perrys displayed on bins, recycling station boards, notice boards and emailed memos. Promoting the need for recycling, as well as reducing the company’s waste disposal costs.

Educational Posters to promote recycling.
