INTEGRATED HEALTH/SCIENCE, COURSE B Approve the new middle school special education course, Functional Academics: Integrated Health/Science, Course B. This course outline reflects the LBUSD Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives. This course is designed for students who receive Specialized Academic Instruction. An integrated approach to science and health will support application and generalization of essential science and health skills, which can be applied to real-life situations. 2. APPROVE NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION COURSES: CORE

Approve the new special education support courses, Core Content Support 6, 7 and 8, for middle school students who require additional support in math and/or English Language Arts. Approve the new high school regular status world language course Italian for Spanish Speakers 1-2 for Millikan High School. The new course outline reflects the Linked Learning guiding principles and the LBUSD Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives. This course is an intensive introduction to Italian emphasizing communicative-based competencies and Italian language culture. The course focuses on the three modes of communication: interpretative, interpersonal, and presentational and builds upon the linguistic skills and cultural knowledge speakers of Spanish bring to the classroom. The course is proposed for foreign language high school graduation elective credit. In addition, this course has been submitted for approval by the University of California Office of the President for elective ‘g’ credit. 4. APPROVE NEW HIGH SCHOOL WORLD LANGUAGE COURSE: MEDICAL SPANISH:

HEALTHCARE/PATIENT CARE Approve the new high school regular status world language course, Medical Spanish: Healthcare/Patient Care, for Wilson High School. The new course outline reflects the Linked Learning guiding principles and the LBUSD Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives. In this course, using Spanish as the medium of instruction and learning, students demonstrate an understanding of the issues and considerations that apply to this industry sector, and undertake practical research that enables them to map their interests and skills in the healthcare/patient care career sector. The course is proposed for high school Foreign Language or elective graduation credit. In addition, this course has been submitted by the University of California Office of the President for Language Other Than English “e” credit. 5. APPROVE NEW HIGH SCHOOL INTERDEPARTMENTALCOURSE: LINKED

LEARNING STUDENT AMBASSADORS 3-8 Approve the new high school regular status interdepartmental course for Cabrillo High School, Linked Learning Student Ambassadors 3-8. The new course outline reflects the Linked Learning guiding principles and the LBUSD Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives.
