Picking the Right Chair for Your Office

A sedentary lifestyle can be one of the most dangerous elements in your life. Unfortunately, sometimes it can’t be avoided. Regardless of whether you are a freelance writer or an office clerk, you’ll sometimes find yourself sitting in a chair for hours on end, staring at the monitor, and hammering away at the keyboard. One day, you are gripped by terrible pain in your back and realize that you have chosen poorly.

What Materials to Pick?

The selection of materials for an ergonomic desk chair is broad, but the one thing you should definitely watch out for is the fabric. A breathable fabric will allow air to circulate freely. This helps prevent sweating and generally improves the quality of your working life. Furthermore, the chair should be properly padded, including the back, the seat, and the area under your knees.

Rigid or Adjustable?

Definitely adjustable. Rigid chairs are made with the average user in mind. Since very few people fit the bill, buying an average, rigid chair is a good way to end up with back problems. At minimum, you should be able to adjust the height of the seat, arm rests, and the back.

Is It Really Important?

While most conditions occurring as a result of a poorly chosen office chair tend to go away after a bit of rest and exercise, they tend to return with a vengeance at future dates.
