We plan to watch a short excerpt or three from a talk Canadian clinical psychologist and professor of psychology Jordan B. Peterson gave recently about his new book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. The discussion of the first “rule” uses the neurology and behavior of lobsters as an example in explaining the formation of social hierarchies. International Literacy Day - September 8th is International Literacy Day. The American Humanist Association will gladly accept books in good condition on topics pertaining to humanism (also atheism, philosophy, science, social justice) to send to our inmate members and prison humanist groups. Please send them to AHA Emily Newman, Education Coordinator, 1821 Jefferson Place NW, Washington DC 20036.

Potluck Picnic for Peace:  In Celebration of International Day of Peace Date:              Saturday, September 15, 2018 Time:              12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Location:       George Washington Park, 700 Alder Street, at Gibson Avenue, Pacific Grove, CA Cost:               Free event. About the Event:The community is invited to join the Peace Coalition of Monterey County for a Potluck Picnic for Peace in celebration of International Day of Peace, (which is officially September 21).  Participants are asked to bring a potluck dish to share.  The event will feature live music by local talent.
