Upcoming Events
I am delighted to extend a very warm
welcome to all family members and
friends of SHCS to the following end of
year events. The Junior School will
celebrate the birth of Jesus at the annual
Nativity presentation (7.12.16 at 5.30pm),
and students will receive an award at our
Junior School Presentation Assembly
(30.11.16 at 1.00pm). The whole school
will finish the year at our Thanksgiving
Service (13.12.16), this year will feature
our string ensemble, some beautiful vocal
items, awards and some other surprises.
Everyone is most welcome to attend. Our
School is supporting the Bowral Family
Carols on Bradman oval (8.12.16) and I
thank two of our parents Irma Fourie and
Karyn Rusin for their work in partnering
with local churches to prepare this
fabulous community event.
School App
Next year will see the School launch its
own App. This App will be available on
both android and Apple products and will
allow families to access the School
calendar, newsletters, notes and other
information as well as receive alerts and
news items from the School. We will
launch the App in the new year and I
thank those who have contributed to its
customisation.

Each Monday, during our morning Staff
Devotions, I have been exhorting our staff
from the book of Ruth. In Ruth 2, Ruth
gleans from Boaz’s field and as a result of
his kindness is able to collect enough grain
to feed two people for five days.
Extraordinary given that one full work day
would usually only yield one day worth of
food. Therefore when Ruth presents the
food to her mother in law Naomi, the older
woman immediately acknowledges the
Creator’s hand at work and prays a blessing
over Boaz. This text and many others
encourage us that the older (read as
spiritually mature) should always lead the
younger by directing their focus on God’s
provision through Jesus. C.S. Lewis once
penned a thought, abridged by Dr Richard
Edlin, which says:
“We don’t spend all of our time looking at
the Sun,
but rather we look at everything through
the light that the Son provides”.
We celebrate the successes and
achievements this year and grieve the
disappointment and losses which some
have endured. I pray that we will be able to
see the glory of the Son of God, as we
remember the humble manner in which He
came to earth in order to restore our
relationship with a Holy God.
