Fall Creek Elementary is a No Place for Hate Campus!

We all at Fall Creek Elementary are committed to eradicate harassment and bullying from our

school, and ensure FCE is a Safe School Zone for all of our students. With the help of our great

student body and their supportive parents we believe that we can make Fall Creek Elementary

your child’s Home away from Home!

The Texas Education Code defines bullying as engaging in written or verbal expression, expression through

electronic means, or physical conduct that occurs on school property, at a school-sponsored or school-

related activity, or in a vehicle operated by the district and that:

Has the effect or will have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a student's property, or placing a student in reason-

able fear of harm to the student's person or of damage to the student's property; or

Is sufficiently severe, persistent and pervasive enough that the action or threat creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive

educational environment for a student.

[Act of June 17, 2011, 82th Leg., R.S., H.B. 1942, § 7 (to be codified at Texas Education Code § 37.0832)]

Conduct is considered bullying if it…

exploits an imbalance of power between the student perpetrator and the student victim through written or verbal expression or

physical conduct; and

interferes with a student's education or substantially disrupts the operation of a school.

[Act of June 17, 2011, 82th Leg., R.S., H.B. 1942, § 7 (to be codified at Texas Education Code § 37.0832)]

If you feel like your student is a victim of bullying please help us to identify and stop the actions. We all need to work to-

gether to make this goal happen!

Additional resources, as well as our Student-Complaint-Form to report bullying are available from a link on the main page

of our web site.

Early Release Day October 30th and October 31st are Early Release Days. Students will be dismissed at 12:00pm. Kindergarten

car riders will be dismissed from the front driveway. Lunch will be served on both days.

One in 8 women will be diagnosed with

breast cancer. Many of our teachers,

parents and students have seen the

disease in their family or friends. So

this year, Fall Creek Elementary is par-

ticipating in Passionately Pink for the Cure which is a pro-

gram of the Susan G. Komen Foundation that raises money

to fight breast cancer.

We will be joining the fight on October 17th

by wearing

pink. We encourage you to join with us by allowing your

child to wear pink on this day. Get creative and

have fun by helping raise awareness.

Donations of any amount can be given to the

classroom teachers.

Fall Creek PTO Cultural ARTS presents

“Exploring Brazil through Capoeira”

Brazilian Arts Foundation

Friday, October 18th

8:30 and 9:30 am

Transport your imagination and spirit to Brazil – to the

Afro-Brazilian lifestyle, culture and history of a diverse and

amazing region located in South America. Through dance,

music, and acrobatics performers from the Brazilian Arts

Foundation expose students to Capoeira and its deep

roots and heritage that has contributed to the rich culture

of modern day Brazil.

Here are a few ideas you can discuss at home prior to the

performance. Find a few interesting facts and photos

about Brazil on your search engine. Look up "Capoiera”

and how to say "Hello" in Portuguese. Talk about Brazil

and where it is located on the map. Discuss rain forests

and why this ecosystem is critical to our world's well-

being.

Book character

Pumpkin Painting

Contest

Calling all students! Let’s have some fun!

Beginning October 21st – October 25th, bring any size

pumpkin decorated (not carved) as your favorite book

character to the library. All pumpkins will be displayed

during the Book Fair October 28th

– November 1st. Judg-

ing will take place October 31st and winners announced

November 1st.

VISION AND HEARING

SCREENING

All newly enrolled FCE students as well as all 1st

, 3rd

, and 5th

graders must be screened or have a professional examina-

tion for possible vision and hearing problems based on the

Texas Department of Health Services requirements. The

screening this year will take place on Thursday October

17th. If your child wears glasses, please make sure that

they bring them on those days – thank you!

I want to remind all parents about the Fall Creek and Hum-

ble ISD PE dress code (Pages DM 11-12 in the parent stu-

dent handbook). I know when the weather changes our

attire changes. This is a reminder that all students must

have tennis shoes to participate in PE. Boots, slip on shoes,

Crocs, sandals, flip flops, and dress shoes are not allowed

because of safety reasons. We do not want any of our stu-

dents to be unsafe in our PE activities.

If a student comes to PE without tennis shoes they will sit

out of the daily activities, sign the penalty book, and a re-

minder note will go home. Their PE grade will be affected

by improper footwear. Because their grade is based on

effort it is important that they participate.

We will also track the whole class and they will get a free

day when they have earned enough yards by not having

anyone sign the penalty book.

Don’t forget about dresses and skirts, too. They must have

shorts or leggings underneath their skirt or dress to partici-

pate. You can check on my webpage for more info. If you

have any further questions, please email me at

[email protected].
