the scoop OCTOBER 31 2012 Thank you everyone for another marvellous Myross Bush community Pet Day! The weather came right and it was wonderful to again see our community coming together to celebrate what is a special part of our school's life. A huge thank you to Bronagh Hegan, Kaye Tuffley and the massive team of other parents who stepped up to help ensure that all parts of our Pet Day came together for your enjoyment. Together we raised around $3700 which will go along way to helping the Board fund the work they have done in getting our eighth classroom up and running this year. Your contribution in time (and sometimes money) is incredibly important in helping ensuring the ongoing innovation and success of our school. Thank you. A special thanks to Wayne Ellis (ASB Bank) for supplying their brand new community barbeque and helpers (including himself!) for the day. We were the first community group to make use of the trailer bbq and it did a great job of keeping the food rolling! Recently the school swapped its banking to ASB and Wayne and his team have been incredibly helpful and supportive so they are worth a look if you are looking at your banking arrangements! Thank you Wayne - and yes, we have already booked it for the Year 6 leavers evening on December 13! Next week we begin our Keeping Ourselves Safe programme with support from our Police Education Officer - Martin Lohrey. Martin conducts some of these sessions in each of our classes over the next two weeks. Further information around this programme is available in the office in the booklet 'Keeping kids safer'. Over the last 3 days we have had the ERO team around our school. They have enjoyed learning about how we do things around here, and seeing the teaching and learning in action and being part of our community Pet Day. They finish tonight with a debrief to the Board and we would like to thank them for the reflection they bring which helps us identify how we can further improve our successful school. Remember that the Year 6 camp forms are due this Friday with the camp meeting for all Year 6 parents next Wednesday night at 7.30pm. Thank you everyone for another marvellous Myross Bush community Pet Day!

Pet Day:!!

Thank you: It was great to see such a big community crowd at Pet day on Monday. Thanks to everyone who donated goods to sell and a special big thanks to the many volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. Pet day made around $3700 which will help support the Board to fund the recent redevelopment of the administration area to create the additional classroom. We are keen to hear your feedback / ideas re what to change for next year - either at the term four FOS meeting at Blue River Dairy on Wednesday 14th November or let Bronagh Hegan (2304 775) or Kaye Tuffley (217 9672) know.

Country Cafe: I would like to thank all my helpers and amazing community bakers that helped make our Country Cafe the most profitable one yet. I have awarded Nicky Carter with the most outstanding cake and slice award. Well done Nicky with 9 awesome cakes and numerous yummy slices, you have set the bar high for next year. Kinds regardsTina Schuck

Waikiwi Kindergarten:Thank you to the Staff and Parents for inviting us to your Pet Day. We loved it. The children are still talking about the animals they saw. Some of the highlights were: shrek the sheep, a cow doing wease, lambs in clothes and they loved the bouncy castle.Congratulations on a great day. We could see what a lovely community you have there and all the children and Families looked so proud and happy. We have a nature programme at our kindergarten where we play in the bush so it was fantastic extension to see animals close up that many children view from the car window as they whizz past. The conversations and art work that have followed show us that there is so much learning from what is around us.We would love to come againCarol Wilson

Parents invariably get left holding the dog! Sammie prepping her lamb for the drinking race. The Country Cafe served up some amazing food and great coffee.
