Twenty Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Everything You Always Wanted to Ask about Your Faith but were Afraid to Ask Contributed by Fr. Rey Sarmiento

Question:

“Why is praying the Rosary important?” Answer: It is impossible to describe adequately the profound spiritual benefits of praying the Rosary. This powerful prayer offers an opportunity for Christians to meditate on the twenty key events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. These events are called “mysteries,” because we can only understand a part of their meaning. These mysteries are divided into five joyful, five sorrowful, five luminous, five glorious mysteries, and are prayed on specific days of the week.

Pope John Paul II taught that the Rosary is one of “the finest and most praiseworthy traditions of Christian contemplation.” While encouraging everyone to pray the Rosary, the Holy Father made a special plea to families to take up the practice if they are not already doing so: “The Holy Rosary, by age–old tradition, has shown itself particularly effective as a prayer which brings the family to-gether.”

Devotion to Mary is a beautiful-and central-element of our Faith. The Church rightly honors the Blessed Virgin with special devotion in the liturgical feasts dedicated to her and by prayers to her, especially the Rosary. We pray with and to Mary. When we pray to her, asking for her powerful intercession, we are following the will of God the Father who wants us to honor the woman through whom He sent His Son to save humanity (CCC 971, 2679).

The fourth graders visited Levi Stadium for their first field trip of the school year. Many of these students went to the big, im-pressive stadium for the first time in first grade when the sta-dium was new. They returned now and tied their visit into sci-ence with an engineering tour of the place. Before starting the tour, they exercised like the football athletes do and it was a workout!

Catholic Answers Apologist Karlo Broussard returns to Queen of Apostles next Sunday, Oct. 29th!!!

You’ve heard him on Catholic Answers, seen him on Formed, and now is your chance to experience the real deal. In his talk “The Splendor of Hope in the Vale of Tears” Karlo responds to the age old question of suffering. From his website: “In this talk, I answer the problem of suffering in two parts. The first part consists of answering this problem from a philosophical perspective-showing that God’s permission of suffering doesn’t necessarily count against His goodness. In the second part, I highlight several dimensions of the Christian answer to the problem of suffering.” Queen of Apostles Church Sunday, Oct. 29th, 6:30 pm. Admission is free

PEACEMAKERS A Culture of Peace

In the coming weeks we will be preparing for the Annual Multi-Cultural Mass and Dinner. We hope to provide an oppor-tunity through this event to get to know our neighbor in the pews. We are many cultures at Queen of Apostles and we cele-brate that diversity. Through sharing Mass and a community meal, we meet families from many walks of life. We learn more about cultures and family history that is new to us. We even meet potential friends.

Sometimes we hear of the miraculous paths taken and are re-minded of our good God and his merciful ways. Let us cele-brate life, our differences and our sameness. Let us cherish our neighbors, our friends and know that it is through building this community that we are one. May God grace us all with peace.
