It’s wonderful to live in a

neighborhood where we have op-

with each other. While we have to

wait until next September for

Es maravillosovivir en una vecin-

dad donde tenemos oportunidades

para reunirse y tener trato el uno

con el otro. Aunque tenemos que

esperar hasta el próximo septiem-

peramos ver a todos en octubre

para la reunión general. No habrá

premios de Bingo, pero ¡si infor-

Community Standards Update

A huge Glenbrook Valley THANK

YOU to the many neighbors that

have demonstrated tremendous

pride in their homes and neighbor-

hood by correcting overlooked

problems on their properties.

Often times we become so accus-

tomed to seeing something, it

doesn't register that it needs cor-

recting. For example vines grow-

ing out of control on and over a

house. It not only becomes un-

sightly, but it can cause damage to

your roof and fascia boards, not to

mention the paint. Look at your

home from the curb across the

street. You may be surprised at

what you see.

We are continuing to send re-

minder letters to home owners.

Unfortunately a few are not step-

ping up and making the necessary

corrections. Where city ordi-

nances are in violation, the prob-

lem has been referred to the ap-

propriate department. A few viola-

tions have been referred to the

club's attorney for resolution.

Actualización de estándares de comunidad

Unas GRACIAS TREMENDAS

Glenbrook Valley a los muchos

vecinos que han demostrado su

orgullo enorme en sus casas y la

vecindad por corregir problemas

antes pasados por alta en sus pro-

piedades.

pintura. Mire su casa desde el

bordillo al otro lado de la calle.

Puede ser que se sorprenda lo que

vea.

Continuamos a enviar cartas de

recuerdo a dueños de casa. Des-

afortunadamente algunos no están

dando pasos para hacer las correc-

ciones necesarias. Cuando se vio-

lan ordenanzas municipales, el

problema se tiene que referir al

departamento apropiado. Algunas

violaciones se han referido al abo-

gado del club para resolución.

October is Fire Prevention Month

Do You Have A

Fire Escape Plan?

Unfortunately the number of fire

fatalities increase when a proper

plan of escape during a fire is not

in place. The Houston Fire De-

partment continues to stress the

importance of having a fire escape

plan in place and to practice that

plan every month with your fam-

ily. Every possible member of

your family needs to know what

to do in the event of a fire. Every

escape plan should include: know

two ways out of each room and

the home, have a meeting place

outside the home, how to call 9-1-

1 and what to tell the operator. A

major contributor to the fire death

RECUER-

DE: Cuando logras salir para afue-

Can you help? Be a good neighbor!

We have 2 project that need to be

tackled. One is working on the

Block Grant project and the sec-

We'll gather on the lot at Glen

Dell Ct and Stony Dell Ct for the

clean up, fence repair, and plant-

ing. Join us there Saturday, Octo-ber 20 at 9 a.m.

The second is a "neighbors help-

a request from a senior neighbor

unable to maintain their flower

beds. They have requested

"neighbor's help" in getting the

beds back in manageable shape.

Please call Jamie at 832-459-0328

Holiday Decoration Planning

It’s not too early to plan your yard decorations for the Holiday Season. In keeping with our tradition of

over 50 years, the Glenbrook Valley Civic Club will be presenting awards for yards judged “Most Beautiful,”

Most Original,” and “Honorable Mention.” The judges will be looking for an overall theme, creativeity, and

how much thought and effort went into the presentation.
