Eucharistic Adoration — Refection by St. Alphonsus Liguori
Loving souls can find no greater delight than to be in the company of those whom they love. If we,
then, love Jesus Christ much, behold we are now in His presence. Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament sees us and
hears us: shall we, then, say nothing to Him? Let us console ourselves in His company: let us rejoice in His
glory, and in the love which so many enamored souls bear Him in the Most Holy Sacrament. Let us desire that all should love Jesus in the Holy Sacrament, and consecrate their hearts to Him: at least let us consecrate all
our affections to Him. He should be all our love and our whole desire. Father Salesius, of the Society of Jesus,
felt consolation in only speaking of the Most Blessed Sacrament; he could never visit it enough. When called
to the parlor, on returning to his room, when going about the house, he always profited by these occasions to
repeat his visits to his beloved Lord; so much so, that it was remarked that scarcely an hour of the day passed
without his visiting Him. At length he obtained the favor to die by the hands of heretics while defending the
truth of the real presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
Oh, had I but the happiness to die for so noble a cause as the defense of this Sacrament, in which, 0
most amiable Jesus, Thou hast taught us the tenderness of the love which Thou bearest us! But since, my
Lord, Thou workest so many miracles in this Sacrament, work this one also: draw my entire self to Thee. Thou
indeed desirest that I should be all Thine, and Thou dost also indeed deserve that I should be so. Give me the strength to love Thee with all the affection of my soul. Give the goods of this world to whomsoever Thou willest. I renounce them all: I sigh after and desire Thy love alone; this alone do I now and will always seek. I love Thee, my Jesus; grant me the grace always to love Thee, and grant me this alone. Ejaculation. My Jesus, when shall I really love Thee?
The Sisters of St. Joseph will be selling chances the weekend of October 26/27 after all the Masses.
Chances support the retired sisters. A chance cost $1 each and a book of six for $5. First prize is $10,000 and there are eight prizes of $500.

Increased Offertory Appeal As announced in the Stewardship Report given at all
Masses by Father Dan on September 28-29, St. Mary of the
Lakes is launching an increased offertory appeal. The objectives
of the appeal are:
1. to encourage all parishioners to use the envelope
system weekly;
2. to introduce and reaffirm the concepts of Christian
stewardship;
3. to request a reasonable weekly increase in the
offering by all parishioners.
If you have yet to respond using the special stewardship
envelope enclosed in the second letter, please use the enclosed
special stewardship envelope to indicate your new level of giving.
Then, in succeeding weeks, return to your regular
envelope packet to make your gift and track your attendance.
Egivers are asked to go to www.smlparish.org, click ABOUT, then
click PARISH GIVING and make changes to indicate your new
level of giving. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

through our baptism to be part of the Church’s missionary efforts, through prayer, self-sacrifice and support
of missionary vocations through material aid. Remembering that we are baptized and sent as a Universal
Church of Christ on mission in the world, we can… PRAY for the Church’s worldwide missionary work .

Eagle Scout Project Dear Parishioners, My name is Luke Denn. I am a parishioner and a Scout working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. I am required to do a project that benefits the community. I chose to do my project at St. Mary of the Lakes. I was baptized and confirmed here and I attended SML School. This church community is a big part of my life and I want to give back to the people who have spent so much time mentoring me. After speaking with Fr. Dan, he requested a patio/fire pit where everyone can hang out. This will benefit all parishioners and ministries. The fire pit will be located on the southwest corner of the church grounds, facing the Emmaus Center. We anticipate installation later this fall, but it does require fundraising. I am asking you to consider donating to my project. All funds will go directly into the cost of the project. The total cost is estimated at $2,000. Much of the actual installation will be done by volunteer labor. If you are interested in supporting this worthy cause, you may drop off a check at the Parish Office, written to St. Mary of the Lakes, and with a note “Luke Denn Eagle Project.” Thank you for your consideration, Luke Denn [email protected]

Some people argue that faith has no place in politics. However, some of the most important movements in our history — the abolitionist movement, the civil rights movement— were born as religious movements. Defending the inviolable sanctity of human life from conception until natural death is at the top of our Catholic morals convictions. It is time that Catholics shine a bright line of separation between themselves and all the politicians who defend the abortion rights regime of Roe v. Wade.
Prayers, sacrifices, awareness, and example are needed on a daily basis.
Come join us at the CHWC 500 Kings Hwy. N. in Cherry Hill. We pray the rosary there every Tuesday from
10 a.m. until noon. The blessings are yours!

PRAYING THE ROSARY FOR HOPE
Each day we as American’s ask, what can we do to end the hatred and despair that is plaguing America? The Blessed Mother gave us an answer; PRAY THE ROSARY. The message given to the three children at Fatima during the first apparition on May 13, 1917 was: “Say the rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and the end of the war.” We are still living in times of war, unrest in our communities and country. Therefore, in conjunction with Father Dan and our parishioner’s pilgrimage to Fatima and in recognition of the rosary Rally at St. Mary of the Lakes on October 12 (pictured above) on behalf of America Needs Fatima, we urge all parishioners to say the rosary daily. To assist in this goal, the Legion of Mary has prepared packets of rosaries for those who do not have them or wish to give them to someone in need. The packets include rosaries, rosary prayers and instructions on how to say the rosary. These packets will be in bins located at the Parking
Lot and Jackson Road entrances to the church.
