SCHOOL NOTICES MARAE VISIT 28TH OCTOBER

We will be visiting Otawhiwhi Marae on 28th October (week 3 of Term 4). It will be a full day of fun, including a shared lunch together. Can you please complete the attached form and return to school. This will provide permission to attend, and also lets us know if you can help with transport and supervi-sion on the day.

TEAM EAST WHANAU MEETING Please come and join us on 19th October at 1.30PM in the school staffroom for our Term 4 Team East Whanau meeting. We will be looking at our successes and efforts for Term 3, and looking at what Term 4 looks like for our students and our school. All welcome.

KAPAHAKA TUTOR Our School needs a new Kapahaka tutor. Our tutor needs to be fun, firm, fair and kind, have lots of enthusiasm, and the ability to lead our beautiful tamariki in waiata and dance. This is a paid position for 1.5 hrs a week. Time can be negotiated and will require a police check. If this sounds like you we invite you to write a letter (address to our Principal Emily) of interest outlining your skill set, experience and availability.

WANTED—2ND HAND CHILDRENS CLOTHING We would love to receive your good quality second hand chil-dren’s clothing to pass onto others. Donations much appreci-ated, please bring into the office.

HELP NEEDED Artistic people are needed to help Room 2 paint the Bike con-tainer. Please let Mr. Gurnick or the office know if you can help. Thanks.

WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 31/2015 14 October 2015

Kia ora,

Welcome to term 4. It is lovely to have our tamariki back at school– enthusiastic and ready to learn. This

week we welcomed our new senior school deputy principal Rachael Coll. Rachael will be teaching in Room 3.

Supporting Rachael during her leadership release, we welcome back Renee Stewart. Welcome to our kura ladies!

I’m sure you have all noticed the beautiful school grounds as you came in the school gate. A massive thank

you to Ross for making our kura look amazing and to David Dixon for painting the bike container in readiness of

the Year 6 paint job.

As part of our newly reviewed Sunsmart Policy– all students are to wear a school hat during terms four and

one. We are giving our students one weeks grace to find their hat. From next week, no hat means play times

under the kai shelter. Sharon has a huge supply of hats available for sale at $9 a pop. As always name your

uniform, these hats become a hot item for students to ‘borrow’.

What are you doing on the 28th of October? How about you join us for a day’s outing at Otawhiwhi Marae.

Lots of cool activities are currently being planned and we look forward to participating in a powhiri/welcome on

arrival. If you can help, particularly with transport, please let us know. For a safe and fun outing, we do

appreciate having whanau attend to help with supervision. Team East Whanau are supporting this venture by

helping with the partial funding of a bus. We thank this group for being so generous.

Goodness me, we were so excited to crack the $2000 mark in our fundraising for LifePods. We are now

moving onto fundraising for a second pod as well as the occasional fundraiser for school activities. Our lovely

Anne Marie is leading the LifePod fundraising and our next project is a Twilight Gala on Thursday 19th of

November. If you are keen to help, please come to our planning meeting on Tuesday 20 October in the staff

room. A third Life Pod has been generously donated by a Tauranga resident once we have raised $4,000. This is

a stunning donation from outside our community.

Lastly, have you planted your pumpkin seed? Seeds are still available in the office if you would like to

improve your chances. I can’t wait to see who will be our champion next year.

Nga mihi nui, Emily Hargreaves ([email protected])

KIDS PAGE

On daylight savings me and my Poppa are going fishing in the night and I hope I

get a snapper and a trevally and a kahawai. I am going to ask my Dad if I can

sleep at my Nana’s house. But I need my pyjamas and a bag but I need dinner and then I am going to sleep.

I am going to tell you how to be a good friend. Encourage oth-

ers. If you are hurt she will come and help you. Share your toys

or pets. If you are lonely a friend will come and play with you.

If you hurt someone they won’t want to be your friend. If you

want a friend be nice. I just told you how to be a good friend. I

hope you were listening because if you listened and you do all

this your will have lots of friends.

In the weekend I woke up so early because I went to Auckland to Jeff and Julie’s. We were having a shared lunch. We had strawberries and marsh-mallows and corn chips and heaps of other things. It was yummy. We played hide and seek. It was fun. Braydon got an early birthday present. It was a nerf gun. I got one as well and then we went home. It was night by then. I felt tired but happy. By Kayla B, R8, 6yrs

I went to Rainbows End and I went on the train rollercoaster and I went

on the police motorbike and my friend Quinn went on the car and I went

on the swing and the plane and the truck and on the horse merry-go-

round then I went outside and I looked for the pirate ship and I looked for

the log rollercoaster then I went inside. I played on the playground then I

went to Tina’s to have dinner.
