seconds. Don‘t be overly concerned if your doctor asks for more tests, since studies show a very small percentage of mammograms lead to a diagnosis of cancer.

Mammogram Tips

Here are some things to consider when scheduling and preparing for your mammogram. Before scheduling yourexam, talk with your health care provider about any breast symptoms or problems you may be having, priorsurgeries, hormone use, and any family or personal history of breast cancer.

Schedule your exam when your breasts are not tender or swollen. This will help reduce discomfort and ensure agood picture. Try to avoid the week just before your period.

On the day of the exam, don‘t wear deodorant or antiperspirant as they

can interfere with the x-ray. Wear a shirt that can be easily removed since you will only need to undress from the waist up for the exam.

Mammograms, along with clinical breast exams, self-exams and general breast awareness, are the most effective ways todetect breast cancer early. When breast cancer is detected early, the survival rate increases significantly. Talk to yourhealth care provider to see if you are due for a mammogram.

Breast Cancer BasicsBreast cancer is a tumor that starts from cells of the breast. Every year thousands more women in the United States willbe diagnosed with breast cancer.

What Causes Breast Cancer? While the exact cause of breast cancer is not fully known, we do know certain risk factors are linked to the disease. A riskfactor increases a person‘s chance of getting a disease such as cancer. Some risk factors can be controlled, while otherscan‘t be changed. Since all women are at risk for breast cancer, review the chart below and take action on the risk f actorsyou can change in order to decrease your chance of breast cancer. Q

Domestic Violence in the MilitaryA study reported that almost one third of military women said they had been hit, kicked, slapped, punched, or sexually

assaulted by a domestic partner. Are you one of these women or do you know someone who is in an abusiverelationship? Unfortunately, not reporting a problem or getting appropriate and timely help can result in long-termemotional trauma for both the victim and the children involved.

Helping a Friend or Loved OneAbuse victims may be embarrassed or have low self-esteem. Most will not admit to being abused, even when the problembecomes obvious to others. Victims might not report a problem because they are worried that it could affect the familymember‘s career. If you think a friend or loved one is being abused, talk to them about seeking help.

Helping YourselfAsk yourself the following questions:

Within the last year, have you been hit, slapped, kicked, or otherwise physically hurt by someone? Are you in a relationship with a person who threatens or physically hurts you?

Has anyone forced you to engage in sexual activities that made you uncomfortable? Are you ever afraid of your partner?

If you answered ―yes‖ to any of these questions, it is important that you seek help.

Where to Get Help: All of these resources can provide help and guidance for people experiencing domestic violence:

Internet coupons:

The Exchange accepts online coupons. This change in strategy supports the Exchange Strategic Plan to develop alifelong emotional connection with our customers. Coupons are redeemable as a cash substitute for legal tender whenpurchasing the items specified on the coupon. The Exchange facilities will accept all valid coupons when redeemed inaccordance with the terms stipulated on the coupon, and ensure that the terms of the agreement printed on each couponare followed. After redemption, coupons become part of the facilities' overall cash flow and must be safeguarded andproperly accounted for.

REDEMPTION OF MANUFACTURER'S COUPONS We will accept one Exchange-issued online and one manufacturer's online coupon for the same item, unless

either coupon prohibits that practice. The following elements must be present for the coupon to be valid: The words "Manufacturer Coupon" A message to the retailer specifying the terms and conditions for accepting the coupons A scan-able bar code and an expiration date A manufacturer redemption address to ensure the coupon can be processed for payment Usage policies in small print containing standard terminology, such as "limit one coupon per item, per customer"

and "no copies permitted" A specially stated face value, e.g., "50 cents" or an "up to" or "no more than" value ("value no more than $5.00") For coupons with an open dollar value, cashiers must fill in the coupon with the Exchange sale price to qualify for

redemption. Coupons do not carry cash value. In situations where the coupon's value is greater than the sale price of the

designated item, the item's sale price becomes the face value of the coupon. Our cash registers are programmedto only take the value of that item, regardless if the coupon is more than the item itself.

experienced job seekers identify the top employers to target for civilians careers. ―It is an honor to once again berecognized as a top employer for those with military backgrounds,‖ said the Exchange‘s Senior Vice President of HumanResources, Susan Simone. ―It validates our team‘s tireless efforts to hire and train people who share our commitment tothe military communities we so proudly serve.‖ MVEs are selected annually based on employers whose recruiting, training and retention plans best serve military services members and veterans. Custom Uniforms now available throughMilitary Clothing. Military Clothing Sales Stores, which have now been rebranded as simply Military Clothing (MC),understand that everyone isn‘t a standard size. That‘s why through an agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency(DLA), MCs can special order any uniform to your exact measurements. ‗The way the ‗Special Measurements‘ programworks is a lot like visiting a tailor shop,‖ explained Tech. Sgt. Larry McCoy, the Air Force Program Manager for MilitaryClothing at the Army and Air Force Exchange Services HQ. ―An associate at the MC will take a series of measurements, depending on the item you are ordering, be a jacket, pants or boots,‖ McCoy said. The measurements are then sent off to DLA for production. Typical lead times are six to eight weeks. When the item iscomplete, it will be available for pick up at the store where you ordered it. Prices are the same for both Specialmeasurement and off-the-shelf uniforms. McCoy uses the Special measurements program himself and encourages otherAirmen and Soldiers to do the same. ―For me, because of my build, the standard size uniforms feel so constricting when Itry them on, so I usually have to custom-order a uniform that fits me just right. Along with being a coordinator of theprogram, I am also a very satisfied customer.‖

―Another key point to remember is that all items sold at the MC meet service standards for things such as IR [infrared] or other specifications. You might not get that guarantee if you buy something off post,‖ said McCoy.

What is S2S?

The Student 2 Student Initiative includes the high school Student 2 Student (S2S) and the middle school JuniorStudent 2 Student (JS2S) programs. Each meets very real transitioning student needs with:

Immediate peercredibility

Positive peerrelationships

Valuedinformation

A team from a school campus is trained to return to their home campus to provide leadership for training otherstudents on methods to support students who are transitioning to or from their school. The team is composed ofadvisors and students. The focus is student-centered, and is student-led, with close supervision. Thedevelopment of student trainers who can return to their home campus to train other peers is critical to thesuccess and credibility of the program.

Why do we have area team meetings?

The purpose of the area team meeting is to provide an avenue for S2S members/sponsors to share bestpractices between High schools and/or school systems. During the meetings, students glean from presentedideas and return to home schools hopefully utilizing what they have learned as a way to strengthen theirindividual programs. Students create and present the entire program from beginning to end!

Sponsoring schools

Sponsoring High School have been Middle College @ APSU and West Creek High for the 2010-2011 school year and theupcoming S2S area team meeting will be sponsored by Fort Campbell high.

Schools Present at 2010-2011 team meeting have been:
