HE NAMED ME MALALA Talking Points for Screenings
Introduce yourself and thank everyone for coming to the event. Now is your chance to explain why you are passionate about the issue of girls’ education. Make sure to give your attendees a brief background of the Malala Fund as well as an outline of how the event will run and what to expect.
Hello everyone!
Thank you for attending this screening of HE NAMED ME MALALA, my name is _______
and I am hosting this screening because there are currently over 60 million girls around
the world that don’t have access to education. The Malala Fund, led by Malala Yousafzai
herself, is an organization working to change that.
The Malala Fund works to ensure that more girls have access to education no matter
where they live by amplifying girls voices, investing in local leaders and organizations
on the ground, and advocating for more resources and policy changes needed to enable
girls to receive safe, quality secondary education.
In an effort to inform students about the challenges that many of their peers around the
world face in gaining access to education, the Students Stand #withMalala program
offers students and educators in the United States complimentary DVDs and education
licenses to screen HE NAMED ME MALALA in schools and classrooms.
We believe in their mission and that’s why we are standing with Malala by hosting this

screening. Not only is this screening to learn about Malala’s story, it is also about
understanding that girls and women around the world are positive change-makers in
their communities, and about what we can do to create a world where all girls have
access to education. Following the film we will be leading a discussion about girls’
education and what specific actions you can take to be more involved with the Malala
Fund. Thank you again for being here and enjoy the film.
