LADY COLONELS LACROSSE

The Oldham County Varsity Girls Lacrosse team is 6-6, and recently lost in the semifinals of the Braveheart tournament held at Sacred Heart. During the Braveheart tournament OC beat South 6-4 and lost to North by 1 in the semifinals. The girls are improving and becoming very competitive.

The JV girls have also been improving. They look stronger as they play better defense and have had a variety of girls score goals. We've recently incorporated 9 middle school girls onto our freshman team that have been able to play in a few games. 6 Girls come from Oldham County Middle School and 3 girls come from East Oldham Middle School.

We are very appreciative of the fan attendance at our games, especially our home games. We had over 100 sold tickets at all 3 home games and have posted a 3-0 home record this season! We have great concession food items, and will be having a special item being sold specifically for senior night! Come check out and support your Lady Colonels Lacrosse team!

The OCHS Soccer season is almost upon us! The first parent meeting was Thursday, May 19th at 6.30 pm in the OCHS library. Coach Morel and Coach Cummings will gave out an outline of what to expect for tryouts, pre-season practice, and expectations for players. The same details will be posted on the OCHS soccer website after the meeting for those who were unable to attend. We have a strong soccer program at OCHS; to keep it that way, and to build the program, we have basic requirements of all players who want to earn a place on the roster. Returning players, players who have worked on their game who were cut last year, and incoming freshmen will all be assessed on the same basis.

Tryouts are Friday, July 15th, 7.00-8.30 am and 7.00-8.30 pm. Saturday, July 16th, 7.00-9.00 am, and

Monday, July 18th, 7.00-8.30 am and 7.00-8.30 pm.

The roster will be posted July 18th, at 10.00 pm. There will be two-a-day practices weekdays and Saturday mornings

until just before school starts.

Our priorities are: Family, school, soccer, always in that order. If you have family commitments which coincide with tryouts, your family commitments come first. We will arrange individual three day tryouts when you let us know, in advance, that you will be back in town. We expect every player to show maximum effort, a positive attitude, fitness, good first touch, an ability to strike the ball properly, and to make good decisions on and off the field.

The Colonels Baseball regular season wrapped up on Thursday, May 19th for Oldham County High School. All 3 levels were able to accomplish some great things that has the future of Colonel Baseball looking bright.

The Freshman team finished the season with a record of 24-5, which is the best season since the graduating class of 2011.

The JV team finished the season with a record of 25-5, which is the best season that the JV team has had over the past 11 seasons.

The Varsity team finished the regular season with a new OCHS record of 26 wins and 6 losses. There were many team and individual school records that were broken this season at the Varsity level.

The Varsity Colonels went on to compete in the District 29 tournament at Carroll County High School, placing as runner-up, but qualifying for the Regional Tournament.

After the disappointing loss at Districts, the Colonels started their quest toward the 8th Region title by taking down the reigning champions, Collins, in a 6-0 one-hit shutout!! They went on to WIN the Regional Title by beating Simon Kenton 4-1 to become Eighth Region Champions! This is the first time since 2005 the Colonels have won the Regional tournament. Scott Gerlach and the Colonels move on to the state tournament in Lexington next Friday where they will face Bullitt East.
