    TRACK AND FIELD 2013 Coach o the Year honors went to Coach Ford Mastin

    while Adam Godwin and Akela Jones were Mens and Womens Most Valuable Athlete

    Dr. Albert ChenProfessor of Physics | Ph.D., Baylor University, Physics

    Dr. Chen, who has been with OBU or 27 years, oten conducts research in partnership with

    NASA. His recent projects include dust simulation studies and researching the design o high

    altitude diusers or Space Shuttle main engines. He also has designed and tested prototype

    hardware and simulation sotware or the U.S. space program. Many o Dr. Chens students

    have been accepted to the nations top engineering programs.

    Dr. Christian GeorgeAssistant Professor of Religious Education | Ph.D., University of St. Andrews, Scotland, Theology

    As a highly respected author, Dr. George contributes to journals and magazines worldwide. His

    passion or evangelism has taken him to more than 30 countries or mission work. His most

    recent undertaking is analyzing and transcribing 1,300 unpublished sermon pages rom theearliest ministry o Victorian preacher Charles Spurgeon. Georges classes are innovative and

    interactive. He is passionate about teaching in a way that inorms the head and transorms the

    heart. He devotes time to mentoring, encouraging and praying or his students regularly.

    Dr. Contessa EdgarAssistant Professor of Biology | Ph.D., Mayo Clinic College of Medicine

    Dr. Edgar has just completed her rst year on Bison Hill. She previously served as a lecturer

    and teaching assistant in immunology at the Mayo Graduate School. Most recently, she

    conducted research at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Her interest and research

    ocuses on the auto immune disease Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. Dr. Edgar is aprime example o the high level o scholarship OBU seeks when hiring aculty.

    Dr. Louima LiliteAssistant Professor of Music

    D.M.A., Voice Performance and Literature,

    Eastman School of Music

    Dr. Lilite has taught, lectured and coached

    in the United States and overseas. He is

    the coordinator o the annual North Haiti

    Music Camp in Limb, Haiti, his home

    country. His students have been invited

    to and accepted at prestigous schools

    including Eastman School o Music,

    Juilliard and the University o Illinois.

    The BisonBeore OBU was established, Bison Hill was well-known bison

    territory. Bison provided ood and clothing to the Native Americans.

    OBU chose the bison as the Universitys mascot, in the hope its

    graduates would also help meet the worlds needs.

    The WalkThe Walk represents a students ull journey at OBU. Conducted the

    night beore your rst day o classes and the day you graduate, it

    begins at the Oval and ends at Raley Chapel.

    The Green & GoldIn the early days, Oklahoma wildfowers provided a sea o green and

    gold on Bison Hill when they bloomed in the spring. Thus, green and

    environment. We promise that our Tri-Ws will make you eel at home at

    OBU by the end o the week.

    Tri-Ws (Welcome Week Workers) are upperclassmen who return to

    campus early just to show you the ropes. Youll eel welcomed rom the

    moment you pull onto Bison Hill as they descend on your car, unload all

    your earthly possessions and carry it all to your new room. Your parents

    will be particularly glad about that!

    For the next our days youll be engaged in high-energy activities and

    meaningul experiences that will teach you everything rom how to go

    with Ka-Rip and how to serve Shawnee, to how to pursue scholarship

    through a Christian worldview.

    January term (J-term)A three-week mini-term is oered in January, right beore the spring

    semester begins. J-term is mandatory or new reshmen, but you would

    want to take it anyway. Housing is ree i you lived in a residence hall

    during the all semester, and some J-term courses are tuition-ree. OBU
