OBSERVANCE OF VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

National Research Centre on Mithun observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th October,
2015 to 31st October, 2015. The theme of the Vigilance awareness Week this year was
‘Preventive Vigilance as a Tool for Good Governance’.
Commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week with administering of Pledge:
The programme began at NRC on Mithun office on 26.10.2015 at 10:30 hrs. Director,
NRC on Mithun, Dr. Abhijit Mitra addressed to all the staff members and highlighted the
importance of Vigilance Week. He also highlighted the measures taken up by the ICAR as well
as the Institute to prevent corruption. The pledge was administered by Dr. M. H. Khan, Vigilance
Officer of the Institute

Activities organized during Vigilance Awareness Week
1. Essay Writing
Essay writing on “How to Prevent Corruption in Public Office” was organized on 27th
October, 2015 at NRC on Mithun office that received wide participation from staff. A
total of 9 staff members were participated in the event. There was a greater enthusiasm in
students (staff children) for participation in various events. Therefore, we made separate
category for staff and staff children. 21 students participated in Essay writing
competition. Best three participants were judged both in staff and children category by
the committee.
2. Slogan writing
Slogan writing competition on ‘Anti corruption’ was organized on 28.10.2015 at National
Research Centre on Mithun office. 20 staff and 21 staff children were participated in the
event. Best three in each staff and children category were judged.

3. Drawing competition
Drawing of caricature or cartoons on ‘Anti-corruption’ was conducted on 29.10.2015 at
NRC on Mithun office. Only staff children were participated in this event. A total of 38
children participated. They have made beautiful cartoons and caricature on corruption as
well as to stop corruption. Best three participants were judged by the committee.

4. Extempore
Extempore was organized on 30-10-2015 at National Research Centre on Mithun office
in order to create awareness among the staff about vigilance and preventing corruption.
Almost all the staff members attended the programme. Six staff were participated and
spoke on topics given to them. This programme was highly successful. Best three were
judged by the committee.
5. Valedictory programme
Valedictory function of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2015 was organized on 31.10.2015
from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the conference hall of the institute. All the staff and staff children
were participated. Army officials from 37 Assam Rifles were invited as Chief Guest on
this occasion. Programme started with the address of the Chairman, Dr. Abhijit Mitra,
Director, NRC on Mithun who emphasized the need to create awareness about anti
corruption and also develop internal checks and balances to reduce corruption. A small
talk was also delivered on ‘Ways and means to prevent corruption’ by Dr. Nazrul Haque,
Principal Scientist, NRC on Mithun. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various
events organized during Vigilance Awareness Week.
