About
Founded in 2000, Obscura Digital is an interactive design and technology company thatcreates immersive environments, experiences, and products that bring brands into the
future. Our work is driven by a human factor: we strive to help people see things in new
ways and create environments and experiences that bring people together.
Innovation
Obscura Digitals history is steeped in invention and creation. We ve introduced the
world to technologies like immersive projection, architectural and object mapping,
ground-breaking interactive mediums, real-time holographic displays, and large-scale
multi-touch.
Our team
We are an interdisciplinary team of graphic, interactive, and industrial designers,architects, engineers, developers, technologists, and strategists.
Our Approach
Our innovative approach to technology is systemic: context, design, and engineering
play equal roles but are tied together with thought and intention to create a holistic
experience. We fuse the virtual and the real, technology and creativity always
incorporating a seamless, inspiring element of magic.
Our Story
Obscura Digital was founded in 2000 by Travis Threlkel and Chris Lejeune. Travis was
experimenting with surround cameras and new types of projection and Chris was
exploring innovative ways to use Buckminster Fullers timeless geodesic dome. Whatstarted as an adventure in immersive media and a few technological inventions has
expanded today to a company of sixty and a compelling portfolio of intellectual property.
Our Core Practices
ARCHITECTURE AND RETAIL
Obscura Digital creates unique, powerful, and captivating ways to immerse customers in
a brand. Weve worked with Hard Rock Caf, Nike, Nokia, and world-renowned
architects to design and implement interactive installations and innovative experiences.
MARKETING AND ADVERTISING
We design interactive and all-encompassing methods of communication for events and
semi-permanent installations. Obscura Digital has covered entire neighborhoods andiconic buildings like Frank Lloyd Wrights Guggenheim Museum in projection using
proprietary building and object mapping for Google and YouTube. Weve partnered with
the UN to visualize a ton of CO2 for the Copenhagen Climate Conference and we
pioneered one of the first interactive motion-based billboards for Adobe in 2007.
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Obscura Digital advises clients in a consulting role or engages deeply with companies to
bring the most innovative products to market.
