Allison Joy Bloom, 1968-2021

Allison Joy Bloom, age 53, of Williamsburg, VA (formerly of CT) passed away peacefullyon Wednesday, December 29, 2021 with those who loved her by her side, following aprolonged illness.

Born on July 12, 1968, in New York City, she was the daughter of Robert and LoisMasket Bloom. A graduate of Fairfield University and Quinnipiac University, School ofLaw, Allison was admitted to practice law in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, theUnited States District Court (CT), and before the United States Supreme Court. During acareer of more than 30 years, Allison served as an EMT, an attorney, a consultant,

coach, author, and educator. She was extremely proud of her certification as anEmergency Medical Technician and had served as EMS Chief of Service, Director ofTraining and Personnel with Easton Volunteer EMS in Easton, CT.

From 2015 to 2020, Allison served on the Board of Directors with the National EMSManagement Association (NEMSMA) and was a Fellow in the American College ofParamedic Executives (FACPE). Allison was instrumental in the development of acredentialing program for EMS Managers and worked with industry experts and tradeshows to advance the program. Most recently, Allison co-founded her dream company,Cambridge Consulting Group where she served as Vice President, General Counsel, andExecutive Advisor.

In addition to her beloved parents, Robert and Lois of Williamsburg, VA, Allison leavesbehind her cousins, Laird and Sara Bloom, of Boston, MA, Bard and Vicki Bloom, ofWestchester, NY, and Marc and Debbie Masket, and their daughter, Jaclyn, ofOwingsmills, MD; as well as other family members and her many close friends, all ofwhom will cherish the years of joy, laughter and friendship.

On Saturday, January 8th, friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Lesko & PolkeFuneral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. A funeral procession led by theEaston Volunteer EMS will proceed to Aspetuck Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.Additionally, a reception to celebrate Allison’s life will be planned for this coming springand will be announced.

Obituary: Sara “Sally” Davis Factor,82

Sara “Sally” Davis Factor, of Easton, passed away January 2, 2022 at St. Vincent’sMedical Center with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband,Robert. Sally is the last surviving child of Dr. Thomas and Sadie Bannon Davis ofFairfield Center.

A former teacher with a MS from Fairfield University, she was active in the local schooland library literacy programs. She was former chair of the School Volunteer Associationin Bridgeport, as well as serving as a member of the Easton Library. Sally alsovolunteered during elections with her husband, Bob.

Sally was a loving aunt and friend, whose unmatched compassion and generosity will bemissed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by five lovingnieces and nephews and their families; Thomas and John Davis of Fairfield, GregoryDavis of Manchester, Laura Soule of Granby, and Sharon Scott of Stratford; as well asseveral grandnieces, grandnephews, and a great-grandniece. She is also survived by twostepdaughters and a stepson and their families; Susan Dorr of Maine, Ruth Stitt ofTexas, and Jeff Taylor of Fairfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 1 0a.m. at Notre

Paul Rowberry

Paul “Christopher” Rowberry, devoted husband, beloved father, passed 55 years youngon December 26th, 2021 at his home with his family by his side in Easton, CT.

Chris was born in Salt Lake, UT and moved to Arizona. He went on to receive his BSCum Laude in Finance at ASU. He was also a CFA charterholder. He retired as co-founder of Intrinsic Research Systems, an investment software company.

He loved traveling the world, and relaxing in Maui with his family. He had a passion forfly fishing in Chatham, MA and Montauk, NY. An avid skier since he was a kid in Utah,he loved skiing with his sons and wife. He walked five miles daily as routine exercise for20 years, enough to travel around the globe at least once. Chris enjoyed cooking andbaking delicious cookies and brownies. He had a love for discovering new foods, frozenmargaritas, and coconut martinis.

Chris is survived by his wife, Kathy Rowberry, his two sons, Parker Rowberry and FosterRowberry, his mother, and his two sisters.

Obituary: Bryce H.Rathbone, 84

Bryce H.Rathbone

Easton resident Bryce H. Rathbone, 84, passed away after a short illness on Sunday,Oct. 24, at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of Robert Charles Rathbone, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer,and Mildred Huntly Gordon. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Mr. Rathbone spent hisyounger years in the Northwest Territory of Canada before his family moved to theUnited States in 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Gretemeyer Rathbone, and his two children: BrittRathbone and his wife Sue of Chevy Chase, MD, and Laura Mestre and her husbandRuben of Falling Waters, WV. He has his four grandchildren: Shannon Giles, Tyler Giles,

Michael Giles and his fiancée Olivia Zura, and Huntly Rathbone. He also has severalnieces and nephews, many of whom reside in Canada. Two special family members –Siamese cats Sir Galahad and Morgan le Fay – made him smile on a daily basis.

Bryce was predeceased by his brother, The Reverend Canon Bruce Rathbone, and sisterJoan Cooley.

His career spanned 46 years, beginning with Arbitron where he served as VicePresident, Station Sales. He then joined the ABC Television Network where he initiallyworked on the ABC News Advisory Service before his promotion to Vice President,Station Relations. These positions enabled him to visit 48 of the 50 states in the U.S.After leaving ABC, Bryce spent nine years with Gemstar/TV Guide as a consultant anddistribution specialist.

After retiring, Bryce spent 17 rewarding years as a volunteer with AARP/CT. In 2004 hewas appointed statewide coordinator for the Benefits Outreach Program. Shortlythereafter, he became a member of the AARP/CT Executive Council. In 2010, he wasrecognized by AARP/CT as its volunteer of the year.

Bryce always considered himself a very fortunate person. He loved his wife, cherishedhis family, and adored his friends. He enjoyed every job he held in his career, and feltparticularly fulfilled by the work he did with the staff and fellow volunteers at AARP/CT.He will be remembered for his affability, light-heartedness, generosity, and optimism.

Obituary: Ann Holt, 97

Ann Holt

Ann Edwardson Holt passed away on October 10, 2021 in Charlottesville, VA at the ageof 97. Ann grew up with her brother Lauren Edwardson on a twenty two acre farm withtwo barns in Kensington, Connecticut that her parents, Lawrence and Julia Edwardson,rented for $30.00 a month.

She married Cayford Holt and moved to Easton, Connecticut where she was an activemember of the Episcopal Church being a choir member and helping with many of theChurch functions and bazaars. She also helped out with events at the Easton SwimmingPool and Holiday Events at the local Grange Hall.

After raising three children, Ann worked at the University of Bridgeport and received aMaster’s Degree in Counselling. Her degree led her to a job as a Counselor at Goodwill.

She later moved to Charlottesville, VA where she worked a while at J.C. Penny beforeretiring to spend time browsing antique shops, reading, and generally relaxing.

She spent her final years dealing with dementia in a memory care facility inCharlottesville. She is survived by two daughters, Ann Rekhi, Janet Holt, one son, MarkHolt, a son-in-law Kanwal Rekhi, three Grandchildren, Raj-ann Rekhi Gill, BenjaminRekhi, Robert Fitzgerald, a Grandson-in-law Pavan Gill, and two Great GrandchildrenRumi Gill and Aries Fitzgerald. A memorial will take place in the spring inCharlottesville, VA.

Obituary: Deborah Cleaves Scott, 84

Deborah Cleaves Scott

Deborah Cleaves Scott passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital in S. Weymouth,MA at the age of 84 on October 7, 2021. She was known and loved as a powerful andkind woman who exhibited a genuine fascination with the human condition. Deb touchedthe lives of many and will be fondly remembered for her unique soul and open heart. Sheinspired everyone in her orbit to live an authentic life, leading the way with spontaneousenthusiasm.

After graduating from Cornell University with a BA in English, Deb went on to receive anMS in Social Work from Columbia University and the title of LCSW. She spent manyyears fulfilling her passion by working in forensic services with the Connecticut MentalHealth Center and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. In the final decade of anaccomplished career she held senior leadership positions at two Departments of MentalHealth, first in Connecticut and finally in Massachusetts.

Sunlight glinting off the waves and the fresh aroma of ocean brine nourished her soul.After moving from the seaside community of Guilford, CT, Deb and her husbandpurchased a home in Hull, MA. In retirement, they enjoyed sharing their time between

Hull — overlooking Boston Harbor — and her beloved family home perched aboveMuscongus Bay in Browns Cove, ME.

Deb was predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Herbert Cleaves, her stepmotherMadolyn Cleaves, her first husband Robert Herron, her husband Blake Haskell and herbrother Craig Cleaves. She is survived by her son Nathaniel Herron, and his twochildren Hunter and John Herron, her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Peter Farrell,her sister-in-law Sara Cleaves and countless nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Deborah Cleaves Scott (Herron) and her family lived on Center Road in Easton. She wasactive in several organizations and charity groups in town. Deb truly made a differencein the lives of everyone she met. Her love for life, kind soul, and humble wisdom will bedearly missed.

Obituary: Blake T. Haskell, 68

Blake T. Haskell

Blake T. Haskell passed away peacefully at the age of 68, on September 30, 2021, withhis loving wife Deborah at his side.

Born to Philip and Evelyn Haskell of Easton, CT on March 31, 1953, Blake was known tomany as a prankster. His colorful imagination afforded him a joke or story for everysituation, good and bad. He kept in touch with many friends over the years, andgenuinely enjoyed making people happy. He will be forever remembered as a man with akind heart and a caring soul.

Blake began his career at Boston EMS as an EMT, and one of the firsttelecommunicators that co-occupied the Boston Police Department, “Turret”, in the1970’s. It was there that he learned the skills that would provide him with a successfulcareer as a telecommunications consultant. He went on to work for the City of New Yorkoffice of Telecommunications, MetroMobile, and AT&T. In 2000, Blake opened his owntelecommunications consultancy, J.D. Hunter Inc., named after his grandchildren.

As a mentor, Blake gained the trust and friendship of many in the 9-1-1 profession. Hewas a proud member of APCO, as well as a dedicated and thoughtful supporter of manylocal and national police and fire departments, and emergency medical services. Known

to some as K1BTH, Blakes passion for telecommunications extended to a love for HAMradio.

Blake is predeceased by his mother and father Philip and Evelyn, and his siblings, PhilipJr., Beth, and Greg. He was loved deeply by his friends and family and was survived byDeborah’s son Nathaniel and his children Hunter and John Herron, his siblings Ann,Richard, and Leigh, and many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

Blake grew up in the family’s home on Center Road, Easton. He was an active member ofthe Easton Volunteer Fire Department and the Easton Ambulance Association.

Toby B. Knapp

The brilliant, talented and creative character, Toby B. Knapp, passed away unexpectedlyat the age of 70 on Monday, Sept.. 27, 2021. Toby was raised in Easton, Connecticut andmost recently resided in Southbury.

Toby was born on April 22, 1951 to Richmond L. Knapp, Sr and Rosemarie (Osberg)Knapp. Toby attended school in Easton and Joel Barlow High School in Redding. Tobywas a gifted artist who attended the Goddard College and Tufts University School of theMuseum of Fine Arts. He spent many years creating paintings, watercolors, sketches,and sculptures. Toby was also a talented musician, playing the guitar, piano, mandolinand violin, often at the request of his father when guests arrived at the house. At thesame time, he was always fascinated with how things worked and started tinkering withbicycles at first and later cars. At the time of his death, Toby had an active businessrestoring classic cars and motorcycles in Seymour.

Toby was a passionate person about everything. He deeply loved his family and friends,going out of his way with generosity, kindness, stories, and friendship. He loved books,food, music, art, nature, cats, tortoises, cars, and motorcycles. He went out of his way tohelp a friend, cheer someone up with food or a fancy car, or perhaps he met your catwho he playfully entertained. One way or another, Toby had a meaningful impact on thepeople in his life. He has left us an empty space.

Toby was preceded in death by his father, Richmond (Bud) and Rosemarie (Peany)Knapp, his brother, Timothy, and his nephew, Richmond Knapp, Illinois. He is survivedby his brother Richmond Knapp, Jr (Terrie) of Park Ridge, Illinois, sister Martha Leonard(Bill) of Avon, Connecticut., niece Carling Harper (Charlie) of Collinsville, Connecticut.and his step-mother, Vera Knapp of Imperial, Missourie. Toby is also survived by severalcousins and several members of his step-family.

Thomas Alan Cable, age 79 of Easton, Connecticut, passed away on Saturday, July 3,2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Mr. Cable was born in Hastings, Nebraska, andwas the son of the late Marvin Cable and Evelyn (Sieckman) Cable.

After his service in the Navy, Tom moved to Connecticut and worked as an installer forWestern Electric and AT&T for 32 years. His early retirement, at age 52, blessed himwith time to delve into his passions. Tom approached everything with kindness and asense of humor. He enjoyed cooking up a delicious meal, tinkering on anything frommachinery to vintage cars, and gardening. He explored all the world had to offer on hismany traveling ventures to six continents with his wife, Roberta. He always lookedforward to the annual family vacations in Cape Cod and Florida.

Tom was a loving husband, and dedicated father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his love and support. Whether it was campingwith Andy’s Boy Scouts troop, pulling his daughter Marni in her treasured wagon, orcoaching Marvin and John’s sports teams, his focus was always on family.

Tom was also devoted to community youth and organizations. He coached Girls Soccerand Boys Tennis at Joel Barlow High School, winning two state championships. Amongstmany accolades, he was Connecticut Coach of the Year for Boys Tennis. Tom was atreasured member of his community and looked up to by many. He also served as a Park

and Recreation Commissioner for the Town of Easton for over 20 years.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta (Jacobs) Cable, devoted children, AndrewCable and his wife, Kristen of Monroe, Marni Soss and her husband Jeffrey of Oxford,Marvin Cable and his wife Jana of Florence, Massachusetts, and John Paul Cable ofSalem, Massachusetts. He leaves his brother William Cable and sister Peggy Graff, bothof Texas, and also his adored grandchildren, Rachael, William, Emily, Monica, Chloe,Hannah, Eliza, Alexander Thomas, and his great-granddaughter, Maeve, and manynieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Marvin and Evelyn Cable, hisbrother Richard Cable and his granddaughter Bridget Grace Cable.

Services and celebration of life will take place on Friday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. at TheAbraham L. Obituary: Clifford J. Stueck, 89

Clifford J. StueckFebruary 28, 1932 – June 18, 2021

Born at home in Queens Village, NY, Clifford Joseph Stueck was brought into the worldby Arthur and Florence Keenan Stueck. He was the firstborn of five, followed by hissiblings, Arthur, Patricia, George, and Francis.

Cliff was a decorated Korean War veteran, who was awarded the Combat InfantrymanBadge, two Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star Medal with “V” for Valor, for hissignificant bravery as a 1st Lieutenant leading a combat platoon for the 25th InfantryDivision.

Shortly before leaving for Korea, Cliff met the love of his life, Lois Elaine Hillicke. Loiswrote to the young lieutenant every single day while he was in combat, and it wasthrough those letters that they came to know each other and fall in love. They weremarried in 1956 and had six children, Eileen (Ken Leech), Clifford (deceased), Kathleen,John (Jill Feinberg), Paul (Peggy Harlow), and Flo (Jen Chotiner), and five grandchildren,Catherine (Nicolas Dovetta), Stephen, Clifford III, John Jr., and Kieran.

Cliff attended Our Lady of Lourdes, Brooklyn Technical High School, St. John’s

University, and received an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He spent morethan 30 years as a senior executive in information systems with Emery Worldwide,retiring as Senior Vice President, North America. While at Emery, Cliff was an innovatorin computer programming, developing a talking computer and one of the earliestpackage tracking systems, and was famous at the office for promoting women to seniorpositions.

At home in Easton, Connecticut, Cliff was an avid gardener and arborist. He took anactive role in childrearing, advising his children on how to weather life’s inevitable trialsand tribulations. He was no stranger to the kitchen, specializing in killer margaritas andnachos, and creating the still famous dinner-for-breakfast meals accompanied by thetheme from Star Wars played at top volume. Cliff also enjoyed his role as a politicalhusband when Lois became the first woman elected as First Selectman of Easton. Laterthey lived in Ridgefield, CT, and Sierra Madre, CA.

Cliff was a world traveler, visiting Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and other exotic locales.For many years, Lois and Cliff followed their bliss, driving their small RV many timesacross the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and spending as much time as possible in the U.S.Virgin Islands. His family was his first and abiding love, but Cliff’s life-long passions alsoincluded photography, language, and writing, as evident in his soon-to-be-publishedmemoir, Queens Village.

A memorial service and reception will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church,Pasadena, July 5 at 3:30 PM.
