Oberammergau Including France, Austria & Switzerland with Christ the King Church September 14, 2020 Depart USA for your overnight flight(s) to Frankfurt. September 15 Upon arrival in Frankfurt, you will be greeted by your Tour Manager before transferring to Strasbourg, France. In Strasbourg, we will have a guided visit of the city, followed by a tour and Mass at the Cathedral. We continue onto Sankt Peter, an absolutely spectacular area of the Black Forest where we will be guests for the next three nights at the beautiful Haus Maria Lindenberg. Overnight Sankt Peter, Germany September 16 Following breakfast we will participate in a Mini-Retreat, then onto Freiberg for a guided tour of the city and Cathedral, followed by Mass. Next, we make our way to Glottertal and the Roter Bur Winery for winetasting and dinner. Back to Sankt Peter to close out the day. Overnight Sankt Peter, Germany. September 17 Following breakfast we will participate in a Mini- Retreat then onto the Abbey of Saint Peter in the Black Forest. While at the Abbey of Saint Peter, a former Benedictine monastery we will participate in Mass and have a guided visit. We will then go to the Black Forest, a mountain region of densely packed forest that offers a fantastical experience. There are many well-marked hiking trails and scenic views. The forest is famous for its exported wood, which has been used to build ships but more famously to build cookoo clocks, which we will see when we visit Triberg and the Catholic church of Maria in der Tanne. Overnight Sankt Peter, Germany September 18 Following check out we depart for Einsiedeln, Switzerland for a guided tour and Mass at the Einsiedeln monastery. Next, we make our way to Lucerne for a guided visit; among the places we may see are the Chapel Bridge, Water Tower, Jesuit Church, Franciscan Church, Water Spike, Spreuer Bridge, and Musegg Wall. From this point on, you will have free time to spend at your own leisure. You can do some shopping, visit the Lake, or take the world’s steepest Cogwheel Railway to the top of Mt. Pilatus. Overnight Weggis, Switzerland September 19 After breakfast we will board our bus for a tour of Vaduz (capital of Liechtenstein), and then on to Innsbruck. The tour will include guided visits to the Annasaule, little golden roof, Helbinghaus, Cathedral of St. Jacob for Mass, the Hof Kirche, and Maximilian Mausoleum. Check-in to your Hotel, dinner. Overnight Innsbruck, Austria September 20 Performance Day After breakfast we will participate in Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of St. James followed by our departure for Oberammergau and the world-famous Passion Play Theatre. Enroute we will visit Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where the 1936 Winter Olympics were held. Following arrival into Oberammergau we will attend the performance of a lifetime, the 42nd Oberammergau Passion Play. Oberammergau’s Passion Play only happens once every ten years! Be part of the mission of the 13 days September 14 – 26, 2020 Passion of Christ, the greatest story ever told and spread the Gospel! Share His message of faith and love! The Passion Play begins with Christ’s entry into Jerusalem, followed by His trial, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. The play is held in a beautiful open-air theatre that is praised for its superb acoustics and comfort, and it can accommodate up to 4,500 people. The Play is approximately five and a half hours long and is performed in two acts. Act I : 1:30pm - 4:00pm Intermission: 4:30pm - 6:30pm; enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Act II: 7:00pm - 9:30pm. Overnight Fussen, Germany September 21 Morning at leisure. Today we will have a guided visit and Mass at the Pilgrimage Church of Wies (Wieskirche), an oval church and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later we will visit the impressive and romantic Neuschwanstein Castle, which is the castle that inspired the Disneyland castle. If time permits, we can enjoy time at leisure to shop and explore the local area. Overnight Fussen, Germany September 22 After breakfast we will visit Ettal Monastery for a guided visit and Mass. Next, we return to Oberammergau to visit the beautiful parish church, the passion play museum, as well as spectacularly painted houses including the famous “Little Red Riding Hood” painted house. Next, we take a cable car trip from Oberammergau to the top of Mount Laber for spectacular views. We cap the day with a visit to Linderhof Palace. We will be able to see some of the many beautiful gardens, expert stonework and sculptures, and the creative fountains. Overnight Fussen, Germany September 23 Today we will have a guided visit and Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting. A healing miracle and an extraordinary image of the Virgin Mary triggered a pilgrimage movement to Altötting in Bavaria more than 500 years ago, which is still undertaken today. Around a million pilgrims a year come to see the “Black Madonna” in the Shrine of Our Lady, in the hope that she will hear their pleas and prayers. This area of Germany is also the area where Pope Benedict XVI lived and grew up. Overnight Altotting, Germany September 24 Today we will have a guided visit of Munich. We will also visit and participate in Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady. There will also be time to see some of the impressive architecture such as the Glockenspiel Tower, Karlsplatz (Stachus), and Neue Rathaus. Dinner at the Hofbrauhaus. Overnight Altotting, Germany September 25 After breakfast, we leave Germany for a day trip to Salzburg, Austria; where the “Sound of Music” was filmed. Here, we will have a guided visit of the city and the Salzburg Cathedral. We will cap out our pilgrimage with a closing Mass at the Cathedral. Farewell dinner.
