ICT sector has evolved over the year and has presented manychallenges to the operators, manufactures and users.The change is driven by desire to improve service offeringand value addition to the existing products in order to remaincompetitive and relevant.Oriolec Africa LTD has recognized the need to offer servicesthat are in sync with the changing technological and serviceenvironment.To this end, Oriolec Africa LTD has undertaken a deliberateeffort to develop capacity in areas that focus on new servicesand value addition on its existing service portfolio.

Summary of Activities:Soft TRX Upgrade Done for Platinum Cluster (Nairobi) cells

There was improvement on TCH Blocking Rate in the cluster .There was also improvement in HR Utilization in the cluster where softupgrade was implemented.Significant reduction in the count of cells outside Baseline in all CapacityKPIs.

Upgrade /Optimization done on Top Worst Blocking cells in the PlatinumCluster

Blocking cleared for all re-current out of baseline Nairobi cells. Newcapacity sites requirement were identified and recommended in areaswhere existing site were already fully upgraded.

New Parameter Feature Trial – Dual Threshold Dynamic PDCH Parameter Feature trialed andImplemented in All Nairobi BSC’s.The BSC’s have shown improvement in TCH Blocking while maintaininggood PS performance.

Split cellsSplit cells have been implemented with several capacity gains beingrealized.Both CS/PS traffic has increased for the split cells.All split cells parameters standardized ( matched with mother cell).Neighbor optimization has been in progress and has show improvementin both CS and PS drops optimization.3G-2G neighbor optimization completed for the clusterCongestion reduced(power and code).Performance monitoring and acceptance ongoing.

BBU swapBBU swaps carried out to redistribute lower version BBUs to areas withlow utilization and higher version BBUs to areas with high utilization.Performance monitoring and acceptance ongoing.

This approach assigns a group of sites in the same geographical areato Oriolec Africa LTD with a view to undertake optimization.It gives ownership and accountability to the service provider, in thiscase Oriolec Africa LTD.

Turnkey network managementThis approach give the operator time to focus on strategic issues ofthe business while allowing the services providers to plan ,implement and maintain the network.
