This presentation will focus on the importance of understanding the Prudent Investor Rule from an in-vestment perspective and will discuss the duties and responsibilities a fiduciary has to its clients. There are several areas of fiduciary responsibility that can never be fully abdicated to outside parties. However, if stat-utes and trust provisions permit, the fiduciary may delegate certain decisions to professional managers, in-vestment advisors, and/or consultants. Understanding the Prudent Investor Rule provides the parties involved with the necessary guidelines for meeting their fiducia-ry responsibility. This expert panel will review and highlight the legal and practical issues attendant to this choice and the administration of the estate or trust.

Roger Cook is one of the most gifted and pro-lific songwriters in the world, having written and produced numer-ous hit songs recorded

by countless recording artists.

Born in Bristol, England, in 1940, he has spent most of his professional songwriting career in Nashville, moving her in 1975.

Inducted into the Nashville Songwrit-ers Hall of Fame in 1997, Cook is the only British songwriter ever to gain that honor. Among his other honors, Cook was named UK Songwriter of the Year for 1970-71 and 1971-72; 1978–BMI\Song of the Year\Talking In Your Sleep; and 1995–PRS\Lifetime Achievement Award.

Among the many artists, crossing mul-tiple genres, who have recorded songs penned by Roger Cook are Elton John, Ray Charles, Bing Crosby, Johnny Cash, Culture Club, Deep Purple, Neil Dia-mond, the Drifter, Tom Jones, Brenda Lee, Bette Miller, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, and many more.

Many of his hits have been written in collaboration with Roger Greenaway, whom he met originally when they were members of the close harmony group, The Kestrels. They had a brief but successful recording career of their own between 1965 and 1967 as David and Jonathan. The two penned their first hit as songwriters for others in 1965 with “You’ve Got Your Troubles” for The Fortunes, which hit #7 on the US charts and #2 on the UK charts.

Among his major hits as a co-writer were “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” (The New Seekers), “Something’s Got-ten Hold of My Heart” (Gene Pitney), “Gasoline Alley Bred” and “Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress” (The Hollies), “I Was Kaiser Bill’s Batman” (Whistling Jack Smith), and many more.

After the move to Nashville, he had more hits including “Talking in Your Sleep” (Crystal Gayle 1978, first re-corded by Marmalade), and “Love Is on a Roll” (Don Williams).

In 1977 he produced The Nashville Album, a record by Chip Hawkes, who had recently left The Tremeloes. Cook also opened a publishing com-pany with accomplished songwriter Ralph Murphy named Pic-A-Lic.

Later he turned to writing for the stage, and has worked on two musicals, Beau-tiful and Damned, based on the lives of Jazz Age author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, in collaboration with Les Reed; and Don’t You Rock Me Daddio, set in 1957 at the height of the skiffle age, with Joe Brown.
