Explore early San Diego with your class. These programs are designed to engage students and assist teachers by offering activities that enhance and enrich the historical and cultural goals set out by the California Content Standard.
Our tours specifically re-enforce and support California Content Standards in Social Science & Literacy.
Students will gain an understanding of the early history of California from before the Spanish arrival in the mid-1700s, through the Mexican period of the early 1800s, into the Mexican-American War, through the Gold Rush, and finally into the early American frontier town that would eventually become the San Diego of today.
Our approach to teaching history is based on the concepts of participation and interaction with our docents, historic buildings and artifacts to give students a hands-on, first-person appreciation for the people, events, and material culture of the past.
