Arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your audition time for costume measurements and check – in. Casting is based on technique, maturity, musicality, and acting.

Audition times on September 11, 2016:

• 9:00 - 10:00a Ladies ages 7-9 for Party Girls, Lead Lamb, Lead Soldier, Star Lights

• 10:00 - 11:30a Ladies ages 10 – 12 for Clara, Party Girls, Lead Lamb, Snow Fairy, Chinese Tea Lead, Marzipan Shepherdess, Ballerina Doll, Harlequin, Russian Ribbons, Spanish Cocoas (Beginning/Inter Pointe dancers may be called back to attend 11:30-12:30pm and 3:30-5:00pm)

• 12:30 - 1:00p Boys ages 7 to 13 for Nutcracker, Fritz, Party Boys, Lead Soldier

• 1:00 - 2:30p Acting Call Back for students who attended the 10:00a audition

• 3:30 - 5:00p Intermediate / Advanced Pointe and Men ages 13+ for Sugar Plum Fairy, Cavalier, Snow Queen, Arabian Coffee, Snow Fairy, Rose,

Spanish Cocoa Lead, Chinese Tea Lead, Marzipan Shepherdess, Ballerina Doll, Harlequin, Russian Ribbons, Spanish Cocoas

• 5:00 - 5:30p Pas de deux Call Back for students who attended the 3:30 audition

• 5:30 - 6:15p Teen/Adult female and male actors for Herr Drosselmeyer, Party Scene Mothers, Party Scene Fathers, Maid, Mouse King, Mother Cupcake What to Bring:

• 2” x 3” photo which will not be returned • Performance fee paid by check made out to San Jose Youth Ballet. • Snacks and water in case you are called back to audition longer. • Ladies: hair up away from the face in a secure bun (no ponytails); color leotard colors, pink tights, pink ballet shoes / Boys: Tight fitting white t-shirt, black tights,

and black ballet shoes. Mandatory Participation Requirements:

• Volunteer a minimum of 16 hours or $280 volunteer buy-out • Sell a minimum of 10 performance tickets per student • Attendance for studio run – through on Nov 19, 20, 27 • Attendance for theater staging rehearsals Nov 28-Dec 2 and Dec 8 • 2-6 performances depending on the role held on Dec 3, 4, 10, 11 • Soloist and demi-soloist roles rehearse outside of weekly Ferla Ballet School classes at DTI beginning September 24th

Performance Fees and Information

Group Dancers • No audition required. No need to attend audition on 9/11. • $195 group performance fee per student includes:

• 15-35 rehearsal and performance hours outside of class time, • 1-5 costume rentals • theater costs

• Rehearse during DTI’s Ferla Ballet School classes • Group roles: Christmas Lights, Soldiers, Mice, Reindeers, Snowflakes, Frosted

Angels, Peppermint Drops, Candy Canes, Senoritas, Arabian Attendant, Chinese Tea, Lambs, Gingerbread Cookies, Flowers.

• No Performance fee for boys and adult actors. Donations welcome. • Scholarships are available.

Soloists and Demi-Soloists • $295 Soloist & Demi-Soloist performance fee per student includes:

• 9/11 audition • group roles • 20-45 rehearsal and performance hours outside of class time • 2-6 costume rentals • theater costs • Pas de deux roles have additional fees. Fees not included

• In the event that a student is not cast as a soloist the $100 difference will be credited.
