In the gospel of today, we see Jesus entering into Jerusalem. He had made this journey before many times, always walking like everybody. But today, things are different. From the Pastor’s Desk Palm Sunday Theme: “Jesus Model of Kingship” My dear brothers and sisters, today is Palm Sunday. We re-enact Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This episode ushers us into “Holy Week.” During the Holy Week, we recall Jesus’ love, how He showed His unconditional love for us. A good question to answer this week is: Will you be with Him every day of this week? Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we are not going to have our street Stations of the Cross. March 28, 2021 (Continúación de la página 1) La multitud tomó ramas de palmeras y fue a su encuentro, gritando, '¡Hosanna! Bendiciones para el Rey de Israel, que viene en el nombre del Señor ” La multitud y los apóstoles se sorprendieron. Esto nunca había sucedido antes. Desde hace unos tres años, han estado con él. Su vida fue muy fácil y sencilla. Le habían oído tantas veces decirle a la gente que no difundiera las curaciones y los milagros que había realizado. Un día, las multitudes incluso quisieron hacerlo Rey. Pero Él se había ido para que no lo encontraran (Juan 6:15) Y hoy, Él acepta todo esto, hasta el punto de montar un burro. Que esta pasando? ¿Por qué un cambio tan drástico? Los discípulos no pudieron entender esto. A diferencia de Él, Él recibe todos los gritos de júbilo de la gente: ¡Hosanna, rey de Israel! A medida que las cosas continuaban cambiando, los apóstoles iban a estar más perplejos y confundidos. Probablemente se hayan preguntado, “¿Será que ahora, por fin, ha aceptado ser nuestro Rey? ¿Significa que, finalmente, acepta el liderazgo de expulsar a los romanos? Unos días después, estarán aún más confundidos y muy molestos. Todo volverá a cambiar. Las multitudes que gritan en bienvenida, honra y aprecio por él pronto le gritarán y le dirán crucifícalo ... Una pregunta que quiero que reflexionemos en este Domingo de Ramos es por qué Jesús aceptó esta gloriosa entrada a Jerusalén, y luego la vergonzoso camino de la cruz por el que pasó? Quizás, quería mostrarnos el modelo de Kingship. No era del tipo que gobierna con fuerza y poder. No es el tipo de rey que depende de sirvientes y soldados. Su realeza fue gentil y humilde, montando un burro, no un caballo, o un avión precedente (Airforce 1) al que los presidentes estadounidenses y los gobernantes romanos están acostumbrados. Quería que entendiéramos que la gloria del Domingo de Ramos no es la última. Un día Él sería glorificado, verdaderamente, en Su resurrección y Su ascensión cuando las Escrituras nos digan que “Él fue elevado a la gloria”. Jesús es Rey en el sentido real, pero no a la manera del mundo. Él es el Rey de Israel y el Rey del Universo. Él es "el que viene en el nombre del Señor", no para salvar a su pueblo solo de los romanos, sino para salvar a todos los pueblos de todo tipo de pecado y esclavitud. Él es nuestro Rey y viene a liberarnos de todo lo que nos impide ser la clase de personas que Dios quiere que seamos. Al proclamarlo como nuestro Rey, ¿estamos listos para recibirlo en nuestra vida personal, familiar y comunitaria? ¿Estamos listos para darle la bienvenida de cualquier manera que venga? ¿Incluso cuando no parece un rey? ¿Incluso cuando no aparece con Su poder divino? ¿Podemos reconocerlo y aceptarlo como es, incluso cuando hace cosas que simplemente no podemos entender? Hay momentos, en nuestra vida, en los que Él permite que sucedan co-sas y nos preguntamos: “¿Por qué tiene que ser así”? Al entrar en la Semana Santa de mañana, recordamos cómo Jesús nos ha amado. Cómo ha mostrado su amor. De todos los que estuvieron allí el Domingo de Ramos, ¿cuántos estuvieron el Viernes Santo con Él?
(Continued from page 1) The crowds took branches of palms and went to meet him, shouting, ‘Hosanna! Blessings on the King of Israel, who comes in the name of the Lord” The crowd and the apostles were surprised. This had never happened before. For some three years now, they have been with Him. His life was very easy and simple. They had heard Him so often telling people not to broadcast the healings and miracles He had performed. One day, the crowds even wanted to make Him King. But He had gone away so they would not find Him (John 6:15) And today, He accepts all these, to the extent of mounting a donkey. What is going on? Why such a drastic change? The disciples could not understand this. Unlike Him, He receives all the people’s joyous shouting ‘Hosanna King of Israel! As things continued to change, the apostles were going to be puzzled and confused the more. They probably asked themselves, “Could it be that now, at last, he has agreed to be our King? Does it mean that, finally, he accepts the leadership of driving out the Romans? A few days later, they will be more confused still, and greatly upset. Everything will be changed again. The crowds shouting in welcome, honor, and appreciation of him will soon be shouting to him and will be saying crucify him… One question I want us to reflect on this Palm Sunday is why did Jesus accept this glorious entry into Jerusalem, and then the shameful way of the cross He passed through? Maybe, he wanted to show us the model of Kingship. He was not the kind who rules with might and power. Not the kind of King who relies on servants and soldiers. His kingship was gentle and humble kind, mounting a donkey, not a horse, or precedential aircraft (Airforce 1) that the American presidents and Roman rulers are used to. He wanted us to understand that the glory of Palm Sunday is not the final one. One day He would be glorified, truly so, in His resurrection, and His ascension when we are told by the scripture that “He was taken up into glory.” Jesus is King in the real sense but not in the way of the world. He is the King of Israel and the King of the Universe. He is “the one who comes in the name of the Lord”, not to save His people only from the Romans, but to save all peoples from all kinds of sin and slavery. He is our King and He comes to free us from all that prevents us from being the kind of people God wants us to be. As we proclaim Him our King, are we ready to receive Him, in our personal life, family, and community? Are we ready to welcome Him in whatever way He comes? Even when He does not look like a King? Even when he does not appear with His Godly power? Can we recognize Him and accept Him as He is, even when He does things we just cannot understand? There are times, in our lives, when He allows things to happen and we ask: “Why has it to be this way”? As we enter the Holy week tomorrow, we recall how Jesus has loved us. How He has shown His love. Of all those who were there on Palm Sunday, how many were on Good Friday with Him?

The Pontifical Good Friday Holy Land Collection
Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the Church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. This collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest, and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of Crisis, the Good Friday collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Good Friday collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. Please be as generous as you can!
