Nuestra Señora de La Luz A Message from Fr....

2
Our Parish Mission — Nuestra Senora de La Luz(Our Lady of the Light) is a community that comes together to model Jesus to all peoples by addressing physical concerns and spiritual matters, and to do as Jesus did, giving everything to bring people into a closer relationship with God, in celebration. A Message from Fr. Marcel: I thank all of you for praying for me for journey mercies; the burial of my aunt was successful. I thank all the co-ordinators; Deacons, Parish councilors, Rel. Eds, etc for your effort to handle the affairs of the parish in my absence. God bless you all. We are also very grateful to the priests who helped us with masses- Frs Martin and Emmanuel . SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A Readings: Eccl.15:15-20, 1 Cor.2: 6-10, Matt. 5: 17-37 In the gospel of last Sunday, the Lord made a beautiful description of the vocation of his disciples as salt and light of the world. The Lords disciples are called Lightbecause their lives, presence, words and actions illumine the world- showing clearly to the world how to love and serve the Lord. As the Psalmist said last Sunday: the good man is a light in the darkness(Psalm 111:4). REFLECTION: An Authentic holiness. The readings of this Sunday focus on Gods determination to bring to fulfilment what he had began. What God began is vocation to freedom. The name of God means freedom from sin, fault, blame, etc. God is totally and always good. And because God is good and faithful what he does reflects goodness and faithfulness. The first reading says: he never commanded anyone to be godless…” (Eccl. 15: 20). God made a great gift to man, the gift of his law of love, which is a command to do good. God freely invites us to accept this great gift and live accordingly: If you wish, you can keep the commandments, to behave faithfully is within your power(Eccl. 15: 15-16). God assumed the responsibility of maintaining the gift of freedom. God commands only what is good; the command to sin in the work of the adversary. It can be said that Jesus added to the law of love and faithfulness what his audience never knew or imagined: But I say this to you: anyone who is angry with his brother is as guilty as a murderer(Matt.5:22); anyone who looks at a woman lustfully is as guilty as adulterer…” (Matt. 5: 27). These were dimensions and meanings of the law of love and faithfulness which men and women did not know or take into consideration. And when Jesus said:...if you are bringing your offering to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, go and reconcile with your brother first, and then come back and present your offering(Matt. 5:23), he means that God does not accept a love, a service, a worship that is in debt.. He who is not at peace with his neighbour is in debt. A man in debt is not free and an unfree man cannot reciprocate Gods love. A reconciled heart is more wholesome and purer than gold offering presented on the platter of a proud heart. Let us authenticate our holiness in order to make a saint.
