Little Coin Boxes Deliver Big Outcomes

Saint Vincent DePaul, a French Catholic priest was a champion of the poor in the seventeenth century. The work of your local Saint Vincent De Paul Society conference emulates his care and compassion to this day. Although the problems facing our neighbors are markedly different from his time, we answer calls that come in to the Ministry of Care office at the parish, neighbors with limited options, some seeking help with rent, food, utility bills— the basics.

The 28 members of your conference cheerfully accept this assignment of outreach to the poor, serving as instruments of God’s mercy in these challenging times. Members arrange meetings and travel in pairs, visiting with struggling single parents, the elderly poor and individuals facing a variety of health challenges; situations that make it almost impossible to make ends meet.

The Lenten tradition asks each of us to follow the practices of prayer, almsgiving and fasting. You can help us reach our $15,000 goal by filling this year’s coin box that carries a famous quote from Saint Vincent de Paul, “Don’t think it’s a small thing to be devoted to the relief of those in distress.” These little boxes will add up to big outcomes, the hope and dignity of the most vulnerable in our community.

We ask that you prayerfully consider financial support of our work.

We will communicate about when and how the coin boxes should be returned.
