The 2015-2016 season is shaping up to be a big one

for Newcastle University Boat Club (NUBC),

marking the 55th year since the clubs foundation in

1961. In the coming year we look forward to

participating in a number of exciting events

including Australian University Championships, to

be held in Adelaide in September. We also look

forward to co-hosting the Head of the Hunter

Marathon, with Newcastle Boat Club. In order for

the club to continue to grow and be able to take

part in these endeavours, we are looking to the

community for financial support to help achieve

our goals over the coming year.

This year NUBC faces a number of large expenses

that present considerable challenges for a small

club. These include a variety of new equipment

purchases to keep pace with the clubs expansion

and the extra requirements that are associated with

a more competitive squad.

The recent interest from club members in rowing

smaller boats places a large demand on the few

doubles and pairs we have, and NUBC is seriously

lacking options for elite level rowers. A major goal

for this year is the purchase of new riggers to allow

flexibility in the use of our elite small boats, at a

cost of up to $1000. NUBC are also very

interested in the purchase of a new double, which

could cost up to $12, 000.

We also face considerable expenses in maintaining

our existing fleet and turning over equipment to

facilitate competition and training at all levels.

Contained within this package is an outline of our

events and the possible marketing and advertising

opportunities they present, as well as an outline of

the sponsorship packages we have put together. We

are more than willing to discuss any ideas you

have, and are happy to be flexible and put together

a package that best suits the needs of your business.

Thank you for taking the time to view our 2015-16 sponsorship prospectus.

Founded in 1961 by Godfrey Tanner, Newcastle University Boat Club (NUBC) represents an important part of the

University's history. As a student run club NUBC prides itself on its innovative and fresh approach to rowing. Within

this environment students have the opportunity to enjoy a team sport, gain skills through participation in the running

of the club and boat maintenance and maintain balance in university life.

In 2015, NUBC is looking to build on

seasons past and perform even

stronger this year. The most highly

anticipated event on our calendar is

the annual Australian University

Rowing Championships. Competition

is immense and members invest a

great deal of time in effort in their

preparation. 2013 was NUBC’s most

successful Championships ever,

coming away with two silver and one

bronze medal. We had a solid

performance in 2014 with some

highly commendable results, however

we are hoping to build upon these

results come October when we head

down to Adelaide.

Local regattas run by

the Central Districts

Rowing Association

(CDR A) p ro vide

excellent competition

and are a great

o p p o r t u n i t y t o

introduce our new

members to racing. We

plan to field strong crews to claim the

Sweep Oar Point Score Championship

and The Throsby Gift Relaying

numerous other CDRA Championship

events.

NUBC also has a strong presence at

Rowing NSW regattas and travels to

Sydney regularly throughout the

season. A testament to the quality of

the club, NUBC have attended the last

five National Championships, with

fantastic results in A Finals including

a gold and silver medal in 2013.

Each season, NUBC hosts two

regattas attracting competitors from as

far as Port Macquarie and Sydney,

providing a great opportunity for

sponsors to market their brand. This

coming August, NUBC, Newcastle

and Endeavour Rowing Clubs will

host the annual Hunter Marathon, a

fantastic off-season event and great

training tool in preparation for

University Championships.

Competition aside, we

are a very active social

club and hold a number

of events throughout

the year. Our trivia

night and annual dinner

are club favourites and

well attended by club

members, family,

friends, the rowing

c o m m u n i t y a n d

NUsport dignitaries.

With our continued growth and strong

performances on local, state and

national stages, NUBC presents a

fantastic opportunity for sponsors to

support a community club and gain

exposure through their sport.

As you receive this sponsorship prospectus we are well into our pre-

season training and preparation for the racing season, which begins

in September. NUBC will be hosting the following events over the

2015-2016 season:

This year will be a particularly busy one

for the club as we work hard to

fundraise for the University Games

team. We are hosting a

range of events, as well as our usual regattas and have

included some details to give a better idea of what NUBC does.

HEAD OF THE HUNTER MARATHON The Hunter Marathon begins in Newcastle Harbour and winds its way 46.5km up the

Hunter River to finish at our shed at Berry Park. Re-introduced to the region in 2011,

this has been a very popular event over the past four years and is seen as a great

introduction to the racing season.

PRE-IV REGATTA Hosted by NUBC in September as a warm up for the University Championships, Pre-

IV is the first regatta of the racing season . This event usually sees a diverse range of

rowers competing in over 50 races. The event is attended by not only Central Districts

Rowing Association affiliated clubs but also a number of clubs from Sydney and other

districts.

NUBC REGATTA In October NUBC hosts our second regatta. With approximately 50 races and a raft of

competitors from the CDRA and other districts, it is always an exciting day. As our

regatta with the highest level of attendance, NUBC will be encouraging sponsorship of

races, allowing exposure for sponsors to a large range of attendees from both local

clubs and attendees from farther afield.

NUBC TRIVIA NIGHT The NUBC Trivia night is our biggest fundraising event of the year. It is well attended

with support from families, friends, university students and the local rowing

community.

NUBC ANNUAL DINNER Held at the end of November, this event sees both current and past club members come

together to celebrate the successes of the year. It is a time for recognizing the

achievements of club members and contributors.

presence at NUBC events. Sponsorship

packages are divided into Gold, Silver and

Bronze, however individual packages can be

tailored to suit the marketing needs of your

organisation. Separate sponsorship of club

uniform and the boat trailer are also

CLUB UNIFORM Choosing this sponsorship option will give you

the opportunity to put your business logo on an

item of club uniform. This ranges from club shirts

and jumpers, worn as mandatory club uniform at

all regattas of the season, to caps and bags.

TRAILER SPONSORSHIP Sponsorship of the NUBC trailer offers a unique

marketing opportunity for your business. The

trailer is used to transport club boats to all

regattas and provides wide exposure at these

events.

Sponsorship would include the placement of two

large advertisements, one on either side of the

trailer.

RACE SPONSORSHIP Race sponsorship allows for great exposure at a

minimal cost. Race sponsors will be recognised

on the regattas call for entries form posted on the

Rowing NSW website, and will be thanked for

their sponsorship by the commentator over the

P.A. system as the sponsored races are coming

down the course.
